I'm changing majors... should I even try to finish my online pass/fail class?
This is taken from how the Univ calculates GPA:
All grades received during a student's enrollment (except the grades of W, P, Z, and F in a Pass/Fail course) are included in the cumulative GPA. Grades from other colleges are excluded.
It states that in F does not effect GPA. So the class I am in will not transfer over to my other major, so there is no harm in failing this class right?I'm changing majors... should I even try to finish my online pass/fail class?

I am in an Algebra class right now and am the only one that knows what's going on. I am also the only male in class with about 10 ladies. Since the professor doesn't know how to explain things, they bunch up on me and ask for help. I have no problem helping out a bunch of women in need, you know what I'm saying? I am good at explaining things to individuals and now see that teaching women is my calling. Even though 2 or 3 of them were probably just flirting with me, I beleive that my message got through to the other 7 that were interested in learning. I just recently graduated with my associate's degree in human services and while I like people I just don't have an interest in becoming a social worker or crisis counselor etc. I would like for my bachelor's degree to be in a field that is challenging yet very versatile. however, I am somewhat hesistant about majoring in business because I don't have a strong interest in numbers, complex math, and talking in front of large groups of people. I'm a fashion design major and I'm planning on transferring to the Fashion Institute of Technology. I don't know if this is a good idea considering how bad the economy is right now. I looked up the ';hospitality'; major, and it appears that it is geared toward management of restaurants and hotels. While this is certainly a valid career choice, I question whether you might be better off going in another direction in your preparation.
A general management degree from a college, even a two-year one, would give you a lot more options. If you decide after training that you'd like to try something different, a more general degree would make it easier to make the change. And, your parents might feel better about paying for a management degree which would make you eligible for a lot more jobs. Just a thought.
In the meantime, I'm sure your parents will be more understanding than you think. Just lay out a clear plan, and they'll be fine. Good luck to you.

If they ask how school is, tell them that it's the same. if they ask how your cooking is going, tell them its going fine (with the thoughts of last nights dinner in your mind) don't avoid it, just don't bring it up. Unless they ask a direct question. then tell them that it doesn't interest you like you thoght it woudl and drop the subject. Just like it's not my dads business that I broke my bike. I need the exersize i get from walking anyways.

When you speak to them be sure to be calm and tell them that you'll excel in this choice because that's what you want, right? Now if you suddenly decided and thought '; Hey, Culinary isnt bad enough.'; give yourself a pat in the back because FINALLY you chose the right thing...(stop reading from this point if you chose the RIGHT thing). But if you are really some kind of adventurous, spoiled, shitty headed person, and still stick the Chef-Turned-Host/Hostess idea, I will spend some of my little time giving you some sermon:
1. Cook (after all, you're studying how to cook until you suddenly thought that its moar exciting to be hospitable) your specialty dish as a decoy for your parents. This will stabilize the mood of your parents, at least temporarily.
2. Talk about some happy things and have a good conversation. This is a good plan to manipulate them towards your actual point.
3. When you finish the food, the climax will begin. Talk about something that has relationship to your point. Ex: ';I have a friend who stupidly decided to change his major...'; Something like that.
4. Tell them your point. Tell them whatever reason you have. For some special effects, cry (cry only if you are a girl. Dont try it if you are otherwise. Instead, look them sharply in there eyes as you narrate them your reasons and the shitakes.)
5. Prepare for the worse. If you are stabbed in the lungs by your mother or trampled to comatose state by your father, still be happy. At least you tried, and most of all you had show them you can stand at your own point and be strong (stop reading to this point if you failed). But if the hell suddenly freezes over and your parents, for some unknown and uncomprehendable reasons, told you ';OK, we let you.';, pat yourself in the back...

I noticed the best thing to do when talking to your parents about college and the future, is seem overly confident. If you seem like you're unsure, they'll attack you with ';my way or the highway'; kind of stuff. Sit them down, or just casually mention it. Maybe talk to an adviser at school... see what they have to say and if they agree that you should switch majors, tell your parents that even your adviser recommended it. Tell them you've been doing alot of thinking and researching and realized you want to switch majors. Make sure you know what you're going to say before you talk to them. This may even sound lame, but come up with a list of questions you think they might ask.. or a bunch of things they might say, and come up with things to say back. This way, you'll be prepared for the argument if one ensues! good luck and remember.. it's YOUR future.. fight for what you want!

In an hour, after I have a small meal, I'm going to throw in another load of laundry, and work on a quilt I'm making for her son.

It's my first semester of my senior year, and I did a minimal major switch. I went from Entrepreneurship to Human Resource Management. The course work is closely related, and I will still graduate on time. I have no idea if I'll like HR or not. I just hated my previous major and HR was the easiest to switch to. so i am 19, and was pregnant, had a miscarriage....
and let me tell u i am an elementary education major, and its scary ....i almost wanted to change majors because of this, this is my 2nd miscarriage i have had. and no i am not trying to get pregnant... i am young and realize this....
but its very depressing... i have heard that if u keep having miscarriages that you are less likely to be able to have a kid in the future...is that true ? has anyone experienced difficulty in gettting preg?How to deal with miscarriage?
I had a miscarraige and got pregnant two months afterwards. I'm now 37 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby boy. Don't worry it will happen when the time is right. Also you need to trust your body. Many times your body will abort a baby that has serious defects, this often happens before 12 weeks gestation. Lots of woman have miscarriages before they even realize they are pregnant and they mistake it for a heavy period. Trust me it will be alright I know its SO dissapointing, but God will make it right.How to deal with miscarriage?

I got pregnant very easily almost 1 year to the date after I lost that baby. Get a good support system of friends and family. I find not talking about it alot helps me to not think about it all the time.

I am currently an education major and I am already considering changing majors. I am interested in the possibility of getting an art degree. How good are the job prosepects with an art degree? I'm studying in a fine art degree and to be honest I didn't care about the job prospects at the end, purely because art is my passion. Someone with any type of degree will be considered over job than someone without.
The talent you need in art really is fresh and different ideas (these are usually stimulated by experiences or help from peers %26amp; tutors).
Drawing and painting can be taught and there are techniques for getting proportions right. You learn the basic techniques in life drawing classes, so if you were worried that you were not good enough, look up on the internet or the phone book for life drawing classes near you.
The college art course I did included fashion, graphic design, photography, ceramics, art history, life drawing and so, so much more.
(art history is very good in helping these 'fresh and different ideas').
Graphic design is considered a good industry to get into for jobs, because EVERYTHING has a design to it, from cars and adverts to packaging and urinals! But I personally found it quite boring at times.
Art is very open and you can express anything you want to, projects we are given are normally very loose and open to interpretation. you are never wrong, but you have to make sure that you have a reasonable sized amount of work to back your ideas up. I would recommend anyone to an art course, but they have to be passionate about it, especially to get a good job.
A lot of art students become teachers.I know people who sell their work on the internet (ebay etc) and sometimes universities and colleges hold exhibitions for students work and sometimes work is sold. My lecturers put their work up in exhibitions all over the UK. There is nothing stopping a fine artist working as a photographer, or designer, but people who have studied those subjects individually may have a better suited portfolio to the job.

Are you here to learn or get your degree? I said both and she told me that I would end up being disappointed and probably get neither.
She told me that I could always learn at seminars, workshops and ';trade' schools. College was academic and training you in a skill was not their job.
Take all the photo courses you can whether art or photojournalism or what ever other courses they have where you can learn how to use your eye and camera in harmony. All the professional skills will most likely come from a different source like ASMP or other professional organization.

It isn't really a matter of being too old. You need to know that the field is VERY tough to get into (professionally) and make an actual living in after you graduate. Very few people end up working for National Geographic (or even seeing their work in its pages). You might want to minor in this (or just use it as a lifelong hobby). It's not impossible, but really tough to make this your career and not starve in the process!

I am about to transfer from a Jr. College to a 4 year university. I just recieved my acceptance letter from TCU on an English major. But i am looking at UTA and TSU b/c the major i want to do (business, i changed majors after acceptance) requires a 3.25 just to be ';considered';. I really want to do buisness at TCU should I hold out or just go to UTA or TSU where i no i'll be able to. Also, if i am accepted to TCU on Business i dont think i can compete with those 4.0 when currently (not final GPA) all i have is a 3.06. College is the best years to experience. You learn so much by doing rather than listening. You learn more knowledge and receive first-hand experience on real-life interships. College life will be enjoyable as long as you know how to balance studying and living. You will survive if you give yourself time for studies and friends. Yes you will survive. Just remember to breath in, breath out, and smile. It has always been my experience that whenever I have taken on something bigger than I thought I could handle, I have succeeded. Your potential probably far exceeds the limitations you place on yourself. Just take one step after another, and don't worry too much about all that stuff. I am 7 years out of my university years and looking back I realize there was never any need to feel anxious about anything I felt stressed about. Enjoy your college years while you are in them. Focus on graduating and spending your post college years further developing your interests and integrating into the work world.
TCU is an outstanding business program. Great entrepreneurship program there. You will be fine, don't sweat your GPA. In college, if you just go to class no matter what (even when you are sick), you will be fine. That is the best advice anyone ever gave me, and I promise you it will make your life so much easier. GO TO CLASS! College is easy if you go to class, do the work, and approach it with the attitude that you are there to learn.
I too was a transfer student from a Jr. college to a university and it was a big change. Yes, you will survive! It may overwelm you in the begining but you will get used to it.
College is the best years to experience. You learn so much by doing rather than listening. You learn more knowledge and receive first-hand experience on real-life interships. College life will be enjoyable as long as you know how to balance studying and living. You will survive if you give yourself time for studies and friends. Never be afraid of failure because it will lower your self-confidence. College is not just about GPAs and studies. People will be missing out on a big bulk of college by locking yourself in your dorm room. YOU WILL SURVIVE. Enjoy life in college because it will the best. Yes you will survive. Just remember to breath in, breath out, and smile. It has always been my experience that whenever I have taken on something bigger than I thought I could handle, I have succeeded. Your potential probably far exceeds the limitations you place on yourself. Just take one step after another, and don't worry too much about all that stuff. I am 7 years out of my university years and looking back I realize there was never any need to feel anxious about anything I felt stressed about. Enjoy your college years while you are in them. Focus on graduating and spending your post college years further developing your interests and integrating into the work world.

I need acts of violence that created major social change.?
We are doing a project of the 20th century and for every twenty year span, we are to write a paper about a topic. I chose violence.
Does anyone know acts of violence and how they changed the social climate in the United States?I need acts of violence that created major social change.?
mafia/mob (creating a slew of social laws)
race related crime (we implimented hate crime laws)
entitlement crimes in economic downturns (this seems constant, and the same situation occurs each ';crisis'; most recently seen during the race riots in CA, and during Katrina
kidnappings took a spike in the eighties, changing the way we alert people, to help find the victims, this also changed social behaviors the most (in my opinion) because when this crime again took a downturn (it is rare for a stranger to kidnap a child now) parents still sequestered their children (and still do)
and ritual abuse took a spike between the seventies and the nineties (cults, etc) {I am not sure if this caused a social change, as it appears that we went back to the Constitution on this one {militia outside the US government}
other crimes like murder seem to grow with the population, but stay comparatively the same
gang violence has been spiking since the eighties (not mafia, children, and adult gangs) (social changes in laws, and actual human behavior, from creating new laws and working on prevention, but also human social behavior has been affected, from acceptance and extreme fear, to moving out of affected areas)
women have been murdering for a long time on massive levels, but the defined examples are just now hitting the forefront of the media (research munchausen, munchausen by proxy) but so far this has not really changed social behavior that I have seen, as women are still seen as victims, rather than criminals...
for example:
Mary Ann Cotton was not considered a serial killer, but she murdered between 15 and 21 family members with poison
Beverly Allitt murdered four children, and tried to kill 9 more before she was caught, she was also not called a serial killer, and was defined under munchausen by proxyI need acts of violence that created major social change.?
Hate crimes ....um.....k.k.k. attacks.... um..... James Byrd ...(in 1990's he was a black man and his death was really tragic) even president clinton contacted the family ..and it changed a town and the nation a bit .. ....and... Columbine High school.... in 99.. the shooting
you could talk about spectacle lynchings (white men hanging black men) that happend in the early 1920s.
White men would hang black men in the center of town and entire city blocks would come out to see the hanging. It caused hundreds of race riots and lead to sundown-towns (google James Lowen and Sundown towns) and later segregation across the USA.
