I need major help! College Majors?

I am in the spring semester of my sophomore year and I have changed majors like 100 times! I can not decide on what I want to get a degree in. I tried to settle with Business...but really i dont understand that stuff and I could actually careless about it. I tried to do math but I learned math is just something I can do...i do not understand it at all! I tried to do teaching, but I have a heard time dealing with other peoples kids who have not been desciplined correctly. i have tried science, but I dont understand that either. So I really need help. I realize I have been negative all throught this so now I am going to tell you what I do like, and Maybe you could help!

I love kids, that I am able to desipline.

I love photography

I love fixing hair and doing make up(not cutting)

I love people

I love telling people how to run their lives

I love helping out people who are struggling in life and need help in situations

I love exercising

I love talking

I want a big family!

TYI need major help! College Majors?
Have you considered being a personal trainer? That's a good blend of exercising and getting to tell people what to do. Unfortunately, I suspect that you would need some science to major in sports medicine or whatever related field would work best for that - but if you are going to rule everything out as too hard and not worth working to understand, college may not be the right place for you.

How do i write a letter stating i'd like to change my major in college?

Well, I dunno ... every college is different. For my college we just go to the admission office and they have the paper out for you to fill out. You need signature from the department that you want to change major to and then turn it in the admission office. You can always ask the Department or your advisor. Good Luck. How do i write a letter stating i'd like to change my major in college?
are you writing a letter to let your school know you're changing your major? if so, all you need to do is fill out a change of major form. you can usually find these forms in the admissions office, I think.

Disapointment and change of major?

I tried very hard to maintain myself in junior college as a science major. I spent five years at JC, two years of which was to fulfill highschool level class since I took the GED after 9th grade. Finally I transfered to a university and now after only a year I am being dismissed for not meating minimum unit requirements. Now I am in a serious relationship, and also have to worry about my parents finacial situation therefor I've decided to apply to a state university and persue an accountancy degree. As much of a heartbreak as this is I know I'm doing the right thing. I just worry about the disapointment of parents and my mentor who worked so hard to get me here. I don't really know much about accountancy. Can anyone tell me what I should expect as far as the level of difficulty and how the job market is for someone with only a bachelors degree? What income should I expect? Eventually I'd like a cpa, but now I just want to finish school and work.Disapointment and change of major?
Oh my - you've come way too far to not finish out school. I've worked with many students in your same situation -- You need to decide if Accounting is what you want to do. It is a LOT of hard work and if you are so-so about it, then don't pursue it. Why not transfer into something more generic, like a BS degree in business. Then, if you fair well doing that, try to go for the accounting stuff. Without the degree, in accounting, you'll wind up being a payroll clerk or similiar. If you are looking towards a CPA, you need to get a bachelor's degree. Id meet with a good academic advisor at your insitution and tell them your dilemma and see what they can suggest. There might be options out there that you aren't pursuing or thinking of. Good luck.Disapointment and change of major?
Be Patience! It檚 difficult to find one檚 positions in this world. Accounting is a good major. It is a very rigorous and structure curriculum. I know a few accountants and I don檛 know any that gets paid less than 40 thousand dollars. You will have to take an exam if you want to be a public one. It檚 a hell of a lot of workut then again so is science.
you can still pursue a science major in a state university. I am a biological engineer and when i graduate i will have a bachelor's of science. Those degrees are still there, don't give up.

What will happen due to climate change?

When will the major changes of climate change occur i.e. food shortage

floods? How many years, decades ?What will happen due to climate change?
It depends on how much we reduce our greenhouse gas emissions. If we successfully reduce them, we can avoid the worst impacts from climate change like food shortages. If we fail, then we'll see things like increased heat waves, droughts, food and water shortages, desertification, large-scale species extinction, sea level rise, etc. As for when it happens, that's a very difficult question to answer. Most of the worst effects probably won't happen until mid-century at the earliest, but things like droughts and floods will happen increasingly frequently along the way.

See the link below for details. What will happen due to climate change?
not in our lifetime.
Actually, during the Medieval Warming Period the population exploded. The temperatures then were higher than they currently are. Food shortages come about during cold periods where the North can not grow enough food. As for floods, they happen every year no matter the temperature usually in the Spring.
One could always pay their climate change tax, and it will all magically go away!

But how strange the change from major to minor........guess the song from those few words?

I don't have to guess it, I know it very well. It's ';Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye';, an evergreen standard by Cole Porter. I think the definitive version was that sung by Ella Fitzgerald. This was one of my late mother's favourite songs and she often used to play it on the piano. Thanks for the memory, EJ.

EDIT: Reggie - if your first link is Ella, I'll eat my hat! The video maker should not be using her name in this way.But how strange the change from major to minor........guess the song from those few words?
It WAS lovely on the piano ..... Thanks, EJ.

  • Technological developments have changed the way warfare is conducted. What are the major changes since WWI ?

Technological developements have been in the following and other ereas:

    Infantry weapons, armour,airforce/airpower,navy, RISTA assets, etc. How have the developments affected the way defence forces conduct warfare;

from attrition to manoeurvre warfare, from traditional command of forces to mission command, lethality and accuraccy of weapons, speed of war, symmetrical and asymmetrical warfare, etc. I need the info for a paper I intend to present soon.Technological developments have changed the way warfare is conducted. What are the major changes since WWI ?
    3-37. Technology檚 presence challenges all

Army leaders. Technology is here to stay and

you, as an Army leader, need to continually

learn how to manage it and make it work for

you. The challenges come from many

    directions. Among them?br>
You need to learn the strengths and vulnerabilities

    of the different technologies that

support your team and its mission.

You need to think through how your organization

    will operate with organizations that

are less or more technologically complex.

This situation may take the form of heavy

and light Army units working together, operating

with elements of another service, or

cooperating with elements of another nation檚

    armed forces.

You need to consider the effect of

technology on the time you have to analyze

problems, make a decision, and act. Events

happen faster today, and the stress you encounter

as an Army leader is correspondingly

    greater.

Technological advances have the potential to

permit better and more sustainable operations.

However, as an Army leader you must remember

the limitations of your people. No matter

what technology you have or how it affects your

mission, it檚 still your soldiers and DA civilians?br>
their minds, hearts, courage, and talents?br>
    that will win the day.

3-38. Advances in electronic data processing let

you handle large amounts of information easily.

Today檚 desktop computer can do more, and do

it faster, than the room-sized computers of only

20 years ago. Technology is a powerful tool攊f

you understand its potential uses and limitations.

The challenge for all Army leaders is to

overcome confusion on a fast-moving battlefield

    characterized by too much information

    coming in too fast.

3-39. Army leaders and staffs have always

    needed to determine mission-critical information,

    prioritize incoming reports, and process

them quickly. The volume of information

that current technology makes available makes

this skill even more important than in the past.

Sometimes something low-tech can divert the

flood of technological help into channels the

leader and staff can manage. For example, a

    well-understood commander檚 intent and

    thought-through commander檚 critical information

requirements (CCIR) can help free leaders

    from nonessential information while

pushing decisions to lower levels. As an Army

leader, you must work hard to overcome the attractiveness

    and potential pitfalls of centralized

decision making that access to information will

    appear to make practical.

3-40. Technology is also changing the size of

the battlefield and the speed of battle. Instant

global communications are increasing the pace

of military actions. Global positioning systems

and night vision capabilities mean the Army

can fight at night and during periods of limited

visibility攃onditions that used to slow things

down. Continuous operations increase the mental

and physical stress on soldiers and leaders.

Nonlinear operations make it more difficult for

commanders to determine critical points on the

    battlefield. Effective leaders develop techniques

to identify and manage stress well before

actual conflict occurs. They also find ways

to overcome the soldier檚 increased sense of isolation

that comes with the greater breadth and

depth of the modern battlefield. (FM 100-34

discusses continuous operations. FM 22-51 discusses

    combat stress control.)

3-41. Modern technology has also increased the

number and complexity of skills the Army requires.

    Army leaders must carefully manage

low-density specialties. They need to ensure

that critical positions are filled and that their

people maintain perishable skills. Army leaders

    must bring together leadership, personnel

management, and training management to ensure

    their organizations are assigned people

with the right specialties and that the entire organization

is trained and ready. On top of this,

the speed and lethality of modern battle have

made mental agility and initiative even more

necessary for fighting and winning. As in the

past, Army leaders must develop these attributes

    in their subordinates.

3-42. To some, technology suggests a bloodless

battlefield that resembles a computer war game

more than the battlefields of the past. That

isn檛 true now and it won檛 be true in the immediate

future. Technology is still directed at answering

the same basic questions that Civil War

leaders tried to answer when they sent out a

line of skirmishers: Where am I? Where are my

buddies? Where is the enemy? How do I defeat

him? Armed with this information, the soldiers

and DA civilians of the Army will continue to

accomplish the mission with character, using

their technological edge to do the job better,

    faster, and smarter.

3-43. Modern digital technology can contribute

a great deal to the Army leader檚 understanding

of the battlefield; good leaders stay abreast of

advances that enhance their tactical abilities.

Digital technology has a lot to offer, but don檛 be

fooled. A video image of a place, an action, or an

organization can never substitute for the leader檚

getting down on the ground with the soldiers

to find out what檚 going on. Technology

can provide a great deal of information, but it

may not present a completely accurate picture.

The only way leaders can see the urgency in the

faces of their soldiers is to get out and see them.

As with any new weapon, the Army leader must

know how to use technology without being seduced

by it. Technology may be invaluable; however,

    effective leaders understand its limits.

Hello, I am in college right now and I am interested in becoming a plant breeder and I am currently aiming for a degree in Landscapes and ornamental. Am I stuck in this? I don't want to change major.. Can I still become one? What classes should I take? I took soil, plant propagation and plant ID courses. Any you think that I should take? how should I go about this?I want to become a plant breeder?
Consider going on for a master's degree at the University of California, Davis campus, or another university with a top agricultural department.I want to become a plant breeder?
talk to your college counsler. they can guide you in the right direction if you have any questions.

your college should have a program layed out with classes for each major.

    best of luck to you

I had a brainstorm! How about 2 major changes for elections-- 1)do away with the 2 party system and 2)?

make it illegal for candidates to use professional speech writers! Maybe then we'd see the real deal and know a lot more about these people! Opinions? It's ok- I've braced myself!I had a brainstorm! How about 2 major changes for elections-- 1)do away with the 2 party system and 2)?
Those are great ideas! People would be forced to vote for who they think would be the best candidate rather than who is leading their party's polls!I had a brainstorm! How about 2 major changes for elections-- 1)do away with the 2 party system and 2)?
    Ok.
George Washington suggested avoiding parties over 200 years ago, and he was ignored.
I like it. But how in the world would we do away with the 2-party system? Would we just do away with the concept of ';parties'; altogether, and force everybody to run as an independent? Hmm, maybe that would work out okay.
Your 1st idea is a great one but it would be totally impossible (making it easier for 3rd parties to enter primaries/causcuses might be a better way to go) %26amp; speech writers aren't the problem it's the special interests groups who give the candidates the money they need to hire the fancy speech writers that are the main problem. Get rid of the Special interests %26amp; you'd get much ';cleaner'; political candidates.
Lol That would be a riot! lol I'd bet they would still sound better than Bush!
i love you for this question, i agree

How did you decide on your career/major?

I am having the hardest time deciding what to do with my major, if I should keep it or switch to something else. So I want to ask everyone...How did you decide on your major/ or career? Do you regret what you do, and would you change your major and get a degree in soemthing else if you had the capability to do so? And do you know how I can decide on a major, because its my third year in college and I need help. And counselors dont work at my school bc its a community college and so you dont have one counselor you see for one thing, you go to whoever is availabe, which sucks...How did you decide on your career/major?
Honestly, sounds like you need to take a step back and take a look at the big picture.

If your schooling cost is causing you pains, then it's not worth it to ';force'; yourself into any major until you really know what you want to do. Perhaps you're just not ready to go after any major yet ... I'd suggest stepping out into the work force for a year or two to figure out exactly what it is that you want to do. A large place like a hospital with a multitude of different careers could be a great eye opener, and could even provide some financial support to lead you in a certain direction (ie nursing).

I have an electrical engineering degree from a very expensive private school, and I saw quite a few people at least try to get engineering degrees when it wasn't what they really wanted to do ... especially in something like medicine or engineering, you need to know for yourself that it's what you want. Definitely not worth racking up student debt while you're trying to figure it all out!

Take some time off, get an ';okay'; paying job somewhere, and the life experiences you'll have will naturally guide you into something ... don't force it!How did you decide on your career/major?
i would just like to say that it is a terrible suggestion to quit school. i just hope you didn't

Take the ASVAB test, sponsored by the military. It will help you learn what you are good at learning and compare it to your interests. It costs nothing to take and incurs no obligation to the military.

I enlisted in the Army to have financial independence and freedom, be my own man while I found what I wanted to do in life...it took me 16 years to figure it out...now I am 39, can retire anyday from the Army, and can start my new career. I actually am doing what I want to do, getting my resume padded and making my contacts for when I do retire.
it 'll be better if you choose based on your favorite things to do...or sometimes it isn't your most favorite but you think that this major can be more prospective..it depends on your own decision...good luck n hope you 'll find the best
yep been there going to comunity collage myself! no help from counselors! i picked mine based on what i was interested in which happens to be computers and things related to them but i also like art and graphic arts so gen tech was major minor was graphic arts! and realisticly i can get a good job in a field relating to either of those things. so just look at what you want to do as a career and your interests and find something that balances the two!
SO let me sum up. Three years in and you have no clue what you want to do with your life? Why are you asking us? We don't know what you're majoring in, what career you've chosen, what job would make you happy. How we chose is not any concern either because you are not us.

You need to stop relying on and blaming others. You need to stop and think then make a decision then stick with it. So think hard and make the right one so you choose the right path for the rest of your life!
someone told me when I was having the same trouble --that she (as an adult) didn't know anyone hardly that went into the field they studied in school. She told me to just do what I enjoyed. So here's what I did: I went through the college catalogue and circled all the classes I would LOVE to take. then I went back to see if there was a theme. and then if there was a major I could take that fit that theme. and there was: American Studies.

    so that's what I did.

    best of luck to ya!

and take some classes of stuff you really enjoy.
yes it is pathetic if someone or the condition is not helping us to get the clear picture of our interest.

My suggestion is, you try to look from your side, think what you like you want to be.

It means try to be really you, don't be what other people want you to be. After you know what is your interests, then you can decide what kind of career you want to take. Then you can decide the major to take.

Of course there is a lot of choices, that's whay we need some counselors to consult to.

If they are not available for us, then we can ask some people around us. Ask their experience of choosing major/career.

Hopefully it they can get you better understanding for the better future.

a little bit share to choose career.

if you are an indoor type person , then you may chooses career which keep you stay in the office from 8 to 5.

the job examples for an indoor type person : accounting, administrator, lab researcher, etc

if you are an outdoor type person. then you may choose a career that make you out of the office minimum 40% of the working hours. Inside sales, etc

the job examples for an outdoor type person : Sales, Architect, etc

    Good luck
if your not planning on going into a medical or IT profession, then do business admin or business mgmt, because with that you can get a job anywhere......thanks no prob

    Should I change my MAJOR?

I am a psychology major. I'm about to start my sophomore year in college. Before I started college, I was going to go into Nursing but changed my mind at Orientation and switched to Psychology. I LOVE psychology but I think I just like learning about it. I am not sure if I'd like to get in that career field. I am a very structured person. I think Nursing would suit me better because there are things to follow, certain ways to go about treating patients, etc. I may not be explaining myself enough or in the right manner. Any information on Nursing and how should I go about getting informed and making not only an educated decision but also the RIGHT decision?Should I change my MAJOR?
http://nursing.about.com/. It gives you a more detailed explanation about nursing. If you feel that you would like to be dedicated to nursing, then you should make your decision as soon as possible. After all, you've already wasted one year in an area which is solely for enjoyment.Should I change my MAJOR?
Why not go into psychiatric nursing? There are clinics and hospitals begging for people with this kind of training. Look into it.
You don't have to go to college to get into that field. My cousin-in-law has a degree in Aerospace Engineering and is making a kiling at computer software. I know another guy that has a degree in Chemistry and went to school for 13 years total, and went into business. It isn't as much the major as the experience. Most companies look at if you went to college more than what school or what major. I wouldn't worry.
Talk with an Advisor, they will help you if you find one that actually does their job.....

you should stick to nursing if you reallly feel like it would suit you better in life, but also when ever you have time take a course or two in psychology so your still having fun learning about it
I just changed my major (physics to political science) I saw counsellors and academic advisors who helped me very much. Definitely go into nursing if that's what your heart says. I'll bet that psychology will come in handy when dealing with patients. The counsellors at your school are there to help and your tuition pays for it so use them!
you have to know what is best for you. Weigh the decisions carefully. Look for how many occupations you can use you nursing degree and then your psychology degree. Determine how committed you will be to each field. And then make the best of which has the more advantages that fit your lifestyle. Remember you don not want to wake up one morning down the line and hate yourself because you hate you job because you earned the wrong degree. Good Luck..............
you should do what you feel is right. this is a decision that only you can make as it is you that has to spend your life time doing it.
take a major that will get ayou a job later on..nursing is a good option, since I know hospitals go to canada to recruit nurses, even before they are done...and it seems to be a pretty easy education. You could take psyc as a minor if you seem to love psyc. With psyc you would hae to do your Master and PhD before you could either teach or do anything really with it (in my opinion).
I think the person who suggested being a psych nurse has a good point. Natasha is also correct, you can't do much with a Bachelors in Psychology, you would need to go to grad school.
Stick with psychology because I was in nursing and it was harder to grasp. The waiting list is long to get in and you don't spend just 2 more years in college more like 3 to 4. At the Bachelor's level, it is even twice as challenging. Besides you are almost done with your associate's in psychology degree so why change it now. Also have you thought about being a psychiatry technician. They are almost like nurses. You can have a certificate, 2 year degree or a bachelor's just to get a job. If not, have you actually tried working as a volunteer at the hospital or being a medical assistant or certified nurses aide to help you decide if you really want to become a nurse.

If you genuinely dislike programming, then you should change the major. If you have been enjoying your courses, and your regret is based on news articles about the current job market, then your fears are misplaced. [Business cycles will come and go. They are part of life.] Computer Science majors will be in demand. Check out the link below. Read through all aspects of CS and also other engineering majors as well. Career prospects are good for all engineering and Computer Science majors.

Your degree is only the first step. It is not a ticket that automatically guarantees high salary, regardless of your major. You have to continue to learn on the job, developing expertise specializing in specific areas and gain other skills such as leadership skills project management skills, etc. As long as you are doing that, your salary level will keep increasing and you will soon be in the major leagues. It is hard to do this in a field you don't enjoy. That's why it is important to choose a field that you really enjoy. Good Luck. How much does computer science a year?
If you have a degree - or any extra qualification - then you'll already be in advace of of the crowd when it comes to hunting for careers. My pal has a degree and he wasn't sure what direction to go with it, but he unearthed some excellent instruction on the site in the resource box below which aided him to settle that he wanted to be a lab assistant. There is lots of assistance on the site regarding extra careers.

How do i decide what to major in??!!!!?

I'm in my second year of college and i keep changing my major. I've wanted to do nursing, teaching, social work, speech therapy, psychology and something related to like wedding planning or catering.

I change my mind so much, i just want a job where i don't get bored and can make enough money to provide for my family.

How do i decide???!!!!How do i decide what to major in??!!!!?
Yeah you need to choose for sure and WORK can become routine and mundane no matter what path you choose, but I'm a Junior and have always wanted to be a Vet and that's my effort to a PHD. I think you need to organize in a priority sense

D is majored in Psych, but for very specific reasons.

It sounds like most of yer focus has been OK in the medical field or fringes of it, and forget wedding planner as the basis of yer whole life, no offense.

Again, with no offense, if income is the most driving force you might make good, and still be unhappy. I think what you choose should benefit you of course, but others as well, and some life satisfaction can be gotten from that. To use your example. Teaching. That might never pay well and probly can become frustrating, but it has to be a passion, not just the thought of a job, and that can be said of Nursing, counseling, speech therapy, social work, all you mentioned.

No matter what you choose, boredom need never happen and again, again, no offense, but is often an immature emotion. Certainly by this time you should have already become aware of incomes in selected fields, and situations in which they will most benefit you. It might also depend on where you are or where you are willing to relocate to.How do i decide what to major in??!!!!?
Pick something that you would not mind doing for the rest of your life. Choose something that makes you happy, forget about materialistic things. I would rather live modestly, and be content than rich and miserable.

Please help me out....This is the 8th time I post this without one response,,?

I want to write a statement of purpose but I am changing major? Both my bachelor and masters degrees were in Management Information Systems (MIS) in the college of Information Technology.. Now I am planning to apply for the PhD program in Economics, could you please provide me with some tips on how to write the SOP, because in this case the whole SOP should be based on why I am intending to change my major. Please help me out....This is the 8th time I post this without one response,,?
It's hard to imagine a credible graduate school allowing someone to start a PhD in Economics without having an Economics background ?including some heavy-duty math. Please help me out....This is the 8th time I post this without one response,,?
i think u havent received any responses because no one really knows what to do either...sorry!
Well, why are you changing your focus (since there are no ';majors'; in grad school), and what makes you qualified to pursue this new career path? Where do you see it taking you? You're the only one who can answer those questions, so I'm not sure what kind of help you're expecting. If you need to find someone who's done something similar, you're much better off reaching out to the programs directly and seeing if they can put you in touch with current students or alumni (or professors).
While you don't need to have majored in econ in order to get a PhD in econ, your undergraduate program would need to have included courses in both econ and in math, and your math skills would need to be extremely strong.

When you write your statement, don't talk about ';changing your major to econ';. You don't ';major'; in things at the graduate level. Instead, talk about changing your focus.

As for why - that's for you to explain. Why are you interested in econ? What is the focus of your research going to be, and why? What about the faculty's research at this school makes it suitable for you?

Please help me out....This is the 8th time I post this without one response,,?

Now I am planning to apply for the PhD program in Political Science, could you please provide me with some tips on how to write the SOP, because in this case the whole SOP should be based on why I am intending to change my major. Please help me out....This is the 8th time I post this without one response,,?
You may obtain an informative answer if you rewrite your question to give much more detail about why you are changing your field. Your current question does not give enough information for me to try to answer it. Good luck. Please help me out....This is the 8th time I post this without one response,,?
The fact that you have posted it so many times without success would suggest that we don't have many PhD holders on who have changed majors after getting their Masters. I don't know why not, there must be millions of them worldwide. Look, see if you can get an interview with the Department Head of the PolSci department, he hopefully has experience with someone doing what you want to do and can offer you some advice. Good luck.

    Change of Major at UCI?

I applied to UCI and was accepted in the Major of Computer Science and Engineering. I've decided that instead I want to focus only on Computer Science. How can I change my major?Change of Major at UCI?

  • UC college apps. What majors should I apply to each UCs for? What are each UC good for?

ELC (eligibility local context) student. Pretty sure I will get into less competitive UCs.

Academic is strong, except the fact that I'm screwing up my senior yr (couple B's, borderline A's, possibily one C, never so bad before). Hope they don't take senior grade into admission consideration.

Applying to almost every UC's except Merced.

I'm doing college apps. I have no idea what majors to apply to. I don't know which schools are good for what major (except my sister told me Davis is good for science but no one cares about design major). Don't know what major to avoid because of popularity. No idea how hard it is to change major. It seems like if I choose this major, it's hard to change it later in some schools, and that will be what I'm doing for the rest of my life.

Unclear about future. Though not literature, med (but med-related is ok), or law. A little leaning toward art and math but definitely not purely art or math. So lost. That's why I'm here to ask.UC college apps. What majors should I apply to each UCs for? What are each UC good for?
Since you don't seem ready to apply yourself to a specific major, I'd recommend that you try undeclared. To be honest it is not difficult to change majors or select a mojor once you are at a University. Of course there is some paper work and you will need to meet with some advisors, but you will have to do that anyway.

Popular majors are pretty standard across the board. Guess why? No one really knows what they want to do for the rest of their lives, liberal arts majors especially, which is why those are so popular.

    Business is popular

    Communications

    Electrical Engineering is becoming impacted

    Biological Sciences

    Political Science

    Psychology

    Along with other liberal arts

Just go for the best University and worry about choosing a major after you get your feet wet. But please don't choose a major just because it can get you money or because 'you're good at it,' do something you like and you will be much happier.

The UC's stack up against eachother as follows:

Berkely (Best Public University, good for any major)

UCLA (Great Reputation, ok University / Good in law and medicine)

UCSD (Just a hair behind UCLA / Great in science and engineering)

    Irvine

    UCSB (PARTY!!!)

Davis (About the same as Santa barbara)

    Santa Cruz

Riverside (About the same as Santa Cruz)

Merced (Brand new and no one really knows)

Hope this helps.UC college apps. What majors should I apply to each UCs for? What are each UC good for?
Well it depends on you, and where and what you want to do. Here's my guess on the popular majors of each UC-

    LA- Medical

    Berkeley- Law

    SD- Science

    Davis- Agriculture?

I'm not so knowledgeable in this area, sorry.

    How to make a change?

Humm Interesting. How old are you? If you are in your youth. 25 and younger the world is yours! DO you already have a ';change'; in mind?

If not may I make a major suggestion?

My 21 year old son just graduated from the National Guard Basic Training. I have seen a world of change in him. He was on the fast track to ';no-where land'; But he is now a proud young man with the world at his feet. He can chose to do most anything and the U.S Army is going to support him. Awesome!!! He is a much different young man now than he was 3 months ago. Yes he hated it at first but now that he is done he is very happy he did it.

    Chose wisely.

If you had a major career change why did u change your career?

how did you choose the job?

Has the job lived up to your expectation?

are you satisfied with your job or if you had the chance would you start all over again? If you had a major career change why did u change your career?
well, the most common reason why people change their career paths is that they're not happy with what they're in. Happiness in a career also means it's really what you wanna do. Meaning, it is your craft, your field, etc.... Some took a career for a 'need' and doesn't consider if it's really what he wants. Surely, he will not be happy with that.

Live you life... do what your heart says!If you had a major career change why did u change your career?
I was kind of half-assedly doing acting, but my job was secretarial. (Not really a career, but I'd been doing it for ten years, so I guess it might qualify.)

Then one day, I was fired. No warning, just that they were downsizing. And suddenly I had to--or rather, was given the opportunity to--pursue acting as a full-time career. What a gift that firing turned out to be!

What major is generally for smart persons? Is Linear Algebra generally hard or is just me that is dull?

I use to think that physics, engineering and computer science are for people who are naturally gifted for them. ie. good mathematics persons. A course like linear algebra is kinda very abstract for me to comprehend. Am I dull or the course is generally hard? How may I help myself? Do I change my major? What major is generally for smart persons? Is Linear Algebra generally hard or is just me that is dull?
I consider myself pretty good at math. I've got over 60 college credit hours in math. Linear Algebra kicked my butt. It's very difficult to ';visualize'; the concepts. It's VERY abstract. It requires a lot of memorization. Get the REA Linear Algebra Problem Solver. There are examples of EVERY type of problem you'll encounter. You can get it at many used book stores, or even your local library. If you can't find it at a used or new bookstore, try looking at http://www.half.ebay.com

It's only one course, so don't use it to decide if you should change your major. Look at how you do in your other math courses. They will be a better meter of how you'll do.What major is generally for smart persons? Is Linear Algebra generally hard or is just me that is dull?
Having spent a few years teaching college math, I have to say that Gymdude pretty much nailed it.

Fact is... There is a -huge- difference between being able to do a thing and teach a thing. (And that's true in everything, not just math) I don't think I ever taught Diff.Eq. without someone asking at least one question that made me actually wonder if I understood it as well as I thought I did鈽? And the fact is that for all my students said that they learned from me, I usually learned even more from them.

    Try another teacher. And remember that everybody 'learns' differently because no two people ever have the exact same referential background to which they relate new knowledge. The wise teacher knows how to say the same thing at least 3 or 4 different ways. After the 3'rd or 4'th time, if you see all of the headlights in the class are on, you're ready to move on to the next item. If not, you should start asking yourself, ';What am I doing wrong?';

The other problem is that -way- too many teachers are willing to give a student a passing grade just to get rid of them. And all that does is screw the student up even more later on. You really have to have it all together before you start to hit the more abstract areas. Don't be afraid to go find one of the 'worked problem' outlines (either in a bookstore or online) and work through a few of the problems. Don't just look at them, take paper and pencil and do the steps to make certain you understand what was done and, more importantly, -why- it was done that way.

    HTH,

    Doug
Engineering is the hardest major because it is basically having a major in Mathematics and a major in Science.
Linear algebra can seem basic, or it can seem quite difficult depending on who is introducing it to you. For instance, I tried it the first time as a freshman at USC with a man who spent the entire first day talking about subspaces. He also did not provide one non-abstract example the entire class. 2 girls even cried during this class - though he was very rude to them. I dropped it immediately. The next year I transferred to a different university and took it again, and this time it was introduced correctly and I breezed through it.

So it may not be you that is dull. If you professor started off with a review of matricies and vectors, and started you off solving systems, finding inverses, adjoints, transposes, etc of matricies .....and then started talking about vector spaces, subspaces, spanning sets, basis, diagonalization, and maybe THEN the tough stuff, then he or she has done it correctly. Otherwise you may well feel lost in a sea of confusion.

If they have followed this format and you are still sinking, remember that linear algebra is cumulative just like high school algebra. See if you can try to narrow down where your most basic problem lies. If rank, spanning sets, and other introductory ideas are giving you fits you can forget about hermitian operators and real hard stuff.

Make SURE you are solid with matrix manipulation, as you'll work with them extensively. Make sure you know properties of determinants like det(AB)=det(A)det(B) and that A^(-1) exists iff det(A) not equal to 0. Make sure you know the definition of a vector space, and the definition of a subspace. Make sure you know lots of examples of vector spaces and subspaces, as professors LOVE to ask for examples of such. If you can do these things, you should get through any introductory linear algebra course as the final should test mostly the basics.

Now, if you're taking advanced linear algebra or a linear algebra graduate seminar, you gotta know undergrad LA inside and out!!!!

Also, I assume you ARE reading your book. If it is too in the clouds for you, go to the library and look for another text book. There are some real nice linear algebra books out there (modern day) written with the idea in mind that not all taking linear algebra intend to become mathematicians - and most are incorporating some differential equations into it.

    Best of luck :-)

    Should I change majors?

I am 21 years old, a junior, and in my second year in the Landscape Architecture program. Ever since I have started my education studying design, I have mostly disliked the projects, and have always been extremely frustrated with my work. Most of the frustration comes from not knowing how to design landscapes such as residential communities or urban parks, no confidence in drawing, nor understanding what my professors are saying to me. The reason I kept with it is because I sort of like the aspect of being creative, but when it comes to being creative professionally, this is where I become frustrated on how to approach these projects. To me designing is all subjective visual bullshit. I have many times thought of switching to Philosophy or law because its a more structured logical way of thinking and understanding how things work, whereas design is all open-ended. Design is basically this: If you can visually bullshit your design, with intensive craft and creative thinking skills, which I lack or have no confidence in, you get an A. Now I am at a point where I'm just motivated to get the grades and my degree with no prospect on the future. I'm not liking the person I am becoming. I'm halfway through the program and not looking forward to the remaining two and a half years. At the same time I'm getting decent grades, and want to finish because I don't want the last three years to be a waste. What do you think?Should I change majors?
Logical question here: Do you want to do this kind of work for the next 20 years of your life? Weigh the pros and cons of switching, talk to your academic adviser about what you need to do in order to switch. If you are to switch look at the classes you have to take. Are those ones that you would enjoy? Finding a job is difficult, but doing a job that you really enjoy or have interest in is something that will make it much easier later on.Should I change majors?
You should change. I wanted to change in my junior year, second semester, and I thought, ';no, i dont have that far to go.'; But it was a waste, I never really wanted to work in that field after. I should have used it as my minor, and pursued what would have fit my personality better.

Its only a couple of years now, but you have your whole life to be in this career. Don't keep going if you think it doesn't fit you.

  • I just turned 19 and am pursuing an engineering degree but my dream is to be a film director...?

Everyone says that it is impossible to get into the film industry. And with an engineering degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, how hard will it be? How should I pursue my dream? Change majors? Internships (how?)? Film school?I just turned 19 and am pursuing an engineering degree but my dream is to be a film director...?
nothing is impossible in this world you can do what u think it is your life but don't waste your time. You must try for it now because after passing time there would be nothing to catch so be fast but thinking and giving a lot time to your dreams.

    by the way

thankx for being a directorI just turned 19 and am pursuing an engineering degree but my dream is to be a film director...?
I'm currently a Mechanical Engineering major trying to pursue a career in directing/scenic design for stage. I personally chose this major because I felt that it would help me in the more technical aspects of scenic design and give me an edge in that regard in addition to the fact that if I can't get a job in this difficult industry I can always work as an engineer.

To try and work towards my dream I've been taking theatre courses on top of my engineering curriculum as well as having theatre internships in the summer and working on shows.

I don't know how much engineering will help you with film directing, but it could always be useful as a backup so you don't have to be a starving artist!!

How hard is it to get a Finance Major?

Right now I am a math education major and I realized that I don't want to teach. And now I don't know what to change my major to. I was thinking of either going into Business Finance or Accounting, but I don't know which one is harder or requires more work/effort.

I was also wondering what kind of jobs you can get with both? I heard that with accounting you are pretty much limited to one kind of job. And with finance you have a more broad selection. How hard is it to get a Finance Major?
Finance majors are not that hard but they are not the easiest business subject to major in. I would say accounting and finance are the hardest two business majors. Marketing and Business Administration are a little easier. I double majored in accounting and finance and it was pretty difficult. Probably wouldn't have been as bad if I had only majored in one of them though. As far as job selection, with accounting you can do tax, audit, bookkeeping, analyst work, etc. With finance you do have a pretty broad range you can get but I found that mostly people take analyst jobs. And if you are getting certified the CPA and CFA exams are both pretty hard. Good luck!!!How hard is it to get a Finance Major?
No harder than any other major if you know math.

Help! What should I change my major to?

I always thought I wanted to be a teacher. Now, I'm a sophomore majoring in education and I don't like it. I'm in my last year of community college and am transferring to a state university next year, but now I need a new major. How do I decide?Help! What should I change my major to?
Think of the subjects you like.

Next, find majors that lean heavily on that subject.

Then filter those majors by finding the job paths that they lead to and choosing only the majors that lead to jobs you have an interest in.

    Then just single one out.

It's not easy finding what you'd like to do, but that's the general process. Good luckHelp! What should I change my major to?
Drop out of college and work at a fast food joint. You'll get promoted to manager in no time.

Seriously though... research different careers online. You can even take a personality test to see what careers generally fit your personality. For example here is one website that has such tests: http://www.funeducation.com/Tests/Career

i'm in my first semester majoring in marketing. but i doubt that its the right field for me. i'm not the type of person that like to sit in the office and work on papers.

so i'm thinking about changing my major to engineering, either mechanical or electric (i'm more to mechanical, but not sure)

    1. should i change my major to engineering?to mechanical or electric?

    3. how much is the average annual salary for mechanical/electric engineers?

    and last

how hard is it to be majoring in engineering?Help: should i change my major?
I think the most important questions to ask yourself is 1) Do I really like the major and 2) am I competant enough at math, physics, and chemistry that are part of any engineering curriculum?

Frankly, engineering is a pretty rigorous and demanding academic program, so you really have to like it to go with it.

As for the money and career prospects - the pay may be good starting out (depending on the location and industry), but you have to consider that it can be subject to boom and bust cycles. Assuming that you are in North America, the outsourcing of many hardware/manufacturing functions to overseas, any operations or manufacturing related jobs are probably not going to be as plentiful as before, so if you're looking for careers in that field, be prepared to move to China or Southeast Asia. Perhaps I am biased in a way because I am in Silicon Valley where software has taken over a lot of hardware related functions in communications and networking systems...

In any case, please consult with a career counselor on your thoughts, and good luck.Help: should i change my major?
Engineers will always be in demand. However, a good part of engineering is sitting in an office working with computers and paper. And lots of math. It's a demanding major, and I'm not sure how much of it you could complete at a community college. If you have engineering courses there, go talk to the dean of that program to see if that's really what you want to do.
If you like engineering you better like math. Also, you might want to check into the jobs that you can get as an mechanical or electrical engineer. At least at the architectural level you will be sitting in an office most of the day with occasional site visits. Not much better than marketing. If you want to be more active look into civil or architectural engineering. Something that you can use on the construction site or out in the field more.
OK first of all: Do you like Math and Physics and are you good at it?

If so then Engineering is a great field for you. It dosent matter whether Mechanical or Electrical really. The demand for Engineers will always be there. Engineering is the type of career where you can find a job fairly easily.

Starting salary for Engineers with a BS degree is about $55-$60K but it depends on the location and who is hiring you. You may get more or less per year.

In my personal opinion, Engineering was not at all for me. I found it to be very hard because of the heavy math and physics and it bored me to death. There are some real chauvinists in that field but that may be encountered anywhere. I suggest you do your research because I wasted a whole year just to end up changing my major to something else. Be sure about the Math and Physics before you jump into any form of Engineering.

You can complete all your prerequisities at the Community college but all the core courses will be taken at the university you plan on attending.
I would recommend you meet with your academic counselor to discuss your options. From my experience, most people tend change majors from engineering to business or another field. The study of engineering is a very demanding curriculum. But, if you are really up to the challenge, I wish you luck. As for salary, it is not your major that determines the paycheck ... rather it is how you apply your education.
If you like the idea of engineering, I think you should pursue it. But know that it's math and tech intensive. You have to be competent at math, and interested in technology, or it won't be a good fit.

I suggest that you go ahead and take the first couple of introductory courses required of engineers at your school, and see if you like them. If you do, then change your major.

The demand for mechanical and electrical engineers may rise and fall over time, but they are *always* in some sort of demand. If you're a good engineer, you'll get a job. Know that, however, in most cases, companies looking for entry-level engineers want people with bachelor's degrees, so once you complete your associates, you'll need to transfer to a reputable school.

The salaries for entry level engineers tend to be higher than those of other college graduates. That's held true in the past, and I expect it to continue in the future. The exact salary depends on your field of engineering, and the region you work in.

No matter what, do a co-op or internship, or two, in the field before you graduate. This will make it far more likely that you'll end up employed when you graduate. (And this is true whether you do engineering, or marketing, or something else.)

There are engineering jobs that entail sitting at a desk, but there are other engineering jobs, even in mechanical and electrical, that do not. Those are often found at manufacturing plants and places like that, where you'd spend most of your time out there on the floor, rather than tied to an office.

I'll link you to a nice resource that describes engineering as a field, and then goes into detail on the different types of engineering. It does talk about both mechanical and electrical.
mmm how do you go from marketing to Mechanical or Electrical engineering thats weird...

Here is the thing. It doesnt matters wich career you choose, you must enjoy doing it!!

I am an electronics engineer my self and in the freshmans year we where 30 persons @ electronics engineering, well only 7 graduated. Me being one of them :P

All of the people that quitted electronics was because they wherent happy with what they were doing, others because just simply couldnt handle the math and physics, others were excellent at math and physicis but they didnt like the electronics part.

I am not very good at math, actually if i dont have my calcutator or matlab forget it....., but am very good at electronics and physics(only with a calculator haha) I enjoy every second I spent in putting circuits together or designing circuits or programing, making cool gadgets etc... you name it.

usually... not always and not all of them... some of them are really really smart(way more than me)... but usually women have a harder time in engineer than guys... But if you are smart and have the feeling that you will enjoy studing and working as engineer... well give it a shot... you'll never know if you dont try...

I am being very discouraged. I just can't seem to get it. What I am having the most trouble with is when you have to listen in order to measure the blood pressure. I still don't understand what I am supposed to be listening for!! I am sooo frustrated I really just want to cry and maybe even change majors because of this.Desperately need help in learning how to take blood pressure?
Blood pressure is composed of your systolic reading (highest pressure when the heart ventricles pump) and systolic (the pressure when the heart is at rest) When you put your stethoscope to the antecubital fossa (AC), and pump up your cuff to say 160 or 170 and you release the dial (SLOWLY) and you hear the first beat that is your systolic reading...when you hear the last beat that is your diastolic reading. Say I start at 170...release the pressure slowly and my first beat is at 120...and my last best heard is 80... and in between 120 and 80 I hear beats, my BP would be 120/80.

When LSAC (LSDAS?) reformulates your GPA, how does it change your current gpa?

When LSAC reformulates your GPA, how does it usually change or GPA? Will it get lower or higher, or does it vary? I would like to know how that works. I have a low GPA overall (2.7), but the grades from my last two years (60+) is a lot better than my early undergrad years. I changed majors (to one that I still didn't like) and I got better in higher level courses than I did at the beginning of my college career. I know I have to get high score in the LSAT so I'm trying to find a good (and affordable) lsat course in my area. I'm shooting for Cardozo, Brooklyn, Fordham (?), Stetson (?, cousin goes there), UMiami, UF and FSU. If I had a higher GPA, I'd apply to Columbia. They use a standard 4.0 scale awarding 4.3 for A+. Classes that you retake to replace previously failed classes DO NOT replace the previously failed class. They are averaged. For some it will go up, for others it will go down. Even some do not see a radical change.

I REALLY need help in choosing my university major. I want to be an Industrial Organisation Psychologist!?

I just graduated from a Graphic Design degree but I decided to do an extra 7 years *sigh* of torturing studies to become what I want, an Industrial Organization Psychologist (IO PSY).

I got accepted to do a double degree in a Bachelor of PSYCHOLOGY and Bachelor of BUSINESS. I'm enrolling now and must choose only ONE major. I was wondering which one would be the best option to take me to where I want to be:

    - Accounting (YUK)

    - Advertising (This interests me because I'm a graphic designer)

    - Economic (YUK)

    - Fiance (TRIPLE YUK)

    - Human Resource

    - International Business (Can someone tell me what I can do with an INT.BUS major?)

    - Management (I thought this may be too broad and not specialized enough)

    - Marketing (Whats the diff between advertising and marketing???)

    - Public Relation

Since I'm interested in design, I was interested in advertising but I don't know how changing major may effect what I learn and where I end up specialising in. Thanks!!!!I REALLY need help in choosing my university major. I want to be an Industrial Organisation Psychologist!?
So are you trying to be and I/O phsychologist or a designer? Your question seems to go in two different directions. If you want to be a psychologist I'd go with the psych major and maybe a minor in human resources. If you want to be a graphic designer that is usually something the art/computer science department. Advertising will teach you tips and techniques about ads, but not necessarily how to design them like a degree specific to graphic design would do.I REALLY need help in choosing my university major. I want to be an Industrial Organisation Psychologist!?
so y doing Graphic design in first place, it is not related to what u want to be ( psychologist)

Don't be a psychologist, take advertising
Advertising actually deals with creating a brand image. Marketing executes that image to the public. I think marketing has more technical business skills than public relations. I think you should just go for whatever you want to do. If you want to be an industrial psychology person, does it have anything to do with business? You don't have to pick one major, because it's possible to do TWO. Of course, that requires more work, more hours and more money. Go with something you are into, because in the end, you don't want to switch to something else.

If you don't like something, the best advice is to NOT to get into it. Your lack of interest will make you do poorly in school work, because you have no drive to do it. It's more of a chore, and that in itself can cause a harder time in your subjects (I know from experience).

    Good luck.

    Oh yes:

International business is a good major to get into, especially nowadays with globalization. The market trade between countries is booming, and our co-dependency with other countries' raw material goods or outsourced businesses puts more job prospects out there. Talk to a counselor about this one, because I'm sure they would know more about it..or well better yet (sometimes counselors are of no help), talk to someone who's actually IN this major.
I say grab accounting for the job security , then get a MBA specialized in Marketing

How do i stop my anxiety with picking a major for school?

ive always been good at school even though i was sort of a slacker. back in highschool i would ditch class, get into fights, smoke, hang out with my girl and still get As and Bs simply becuz i did my home work and studied. Now that im in college i keep on getting anxiety attacks becuz i know that my major will eventually determine my future. i keep changing majors and cant do my work because all these thoughts will go through my head like: your major won't do u any good, u won't find a good job with your major, u won't be able to pay off your loans, etc. when i quit school and just work then these thoughts will come: you need to go back to school or u won't make it in life etc. how do i make this stop? its been occuring for the past five years! How do i stop my anxiety with picking a major for school?
try being like everyone else and study. you will get what you deserveHow do i stop my anxiety with picking a major for school?
    best adivce: follow your passion
Do what you want...I was going to be a chemistry major when I first started college. I hated it and then changed to majoring in music. I took a psychology class as an elective and fell in love with it. Now I've graduated with a psychology degree and am currently attending graduate school. You just need to find what you love.
u need to try things b4 u can kno if it will make u happy, u can just be like, o i wana be a sergin cuz the world needs more, cuz theres alot ov college work and other work that goes with it that you dont kno about, so find out all the work that will go with each thing, idk how to do that, but if your already in college maybe u can, maybe college isnt rite for u, but if u like it then stay, idk what u like to do, but i like to dance and model. u should be a sergen or someone that researches medicins and test new plants to find cures for things like cancer and aids.., the world needs more of those.
Negative emotions (like sadness, stress, anger, etc.) causes your Serotonin production to be low; when your Serotonin level is low, you are more prone to getting Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Depression, etc.

Medication like Antidepressants (SSRI - Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor) helps to boost Serotonin level.

But there are natural ways to do it without medication. There's this strange herb called ';St John's Wort'; - it is said to be more effective than Prozac. No, it is not for mild depression only and ignore those sayings. In fact, it does help anxiety and panic-attacks as St John's Wort works like prozac. Other natural ways will be exercise, diet, more exposure to light, etc.

The problem is that, even if your Serotonin is balanced... you have that ';learned behavior'; in your mind. You need to break that initial cycle to destroy that learned behavior - Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) does this. A technique that you can use without CBT will be Distraction... There are several other techniques to help cope them!

Ok, to use Distraction: Firstly, try to....

I need information on a Toyota Prius?

I live in Los Angeles and I drive about 40,000 miles (vast majority on the highway) per year. Would a Prius die out on me? How often would I change major parts on a hybrid? I've heard about major defects with the gas tank/gauge. I need to know as much as I can before I pay.

If anyone has any alternatives to the Prius, please, let me know your suggestions and information on the model. Thanks!!!!!I need information on a Toyota Prius?
The Toyota Prius should serve you particularly well. Not only is the Prius accorded Consumer Reports' highest predicted reliability category based on infrequency of serious problems over the three most recent model years, but is on AutoOnInfo.net's Best of 2008 lists based on the infrequency of serious problems over CR's 5-year and 7-year Reliability Verdict histories. Furthermore, it is on Consumer Report's list of top ten vehicles that are good bets for the long run - candidates for multi-year ownership.

With regard to fuel economy, the ACEEE ranks it 1st in fuel economy, with 48 miles per gallon inside the city and 45 miles per gallon on the highway. The Honda Civic Hybrid places 2nd, with 40 miles per gallon inside the city and 45 miles per gallon on the highway. Daimler's Smart ForTwo places 3rd, with 33 miles per gallon inside the city and 41 miles per gallon on the highway; however, if this vehicle is akin to other Daimler products, it may be something of a reliability disaster (see the Greenest Automobiles of 2008, http://www.AutoOnInfo.net/GreenestDozen2 ).

The Honda Civic Hybrid appears to be the only good alternative. It too has a solid reliability history; however, by its 5th year, the Honda Civic had fallen to CR's second-highest reliability rating while the Toyota Prius earned CR's highest reliability rating for all 7 of the model years in its reliability history.I need information on a Toyota Prius?
The Prius will not break down as they have been (Toyota) has used since 1996. they are ONLY hybrid car. All others are gas with electric boost to aide in torque taking off from stop. It has a 8 year warranty on batteries which I have never seen 1 go bad since they came out. It gets 48MPG in city and 45 on highway. I just saw ad for Chevrolet Envoy Hybrid or so-called which gets 20 mpg. A hybrid? Toyota Tundra gas gets 17 and 21 with 381 hp 5.7engine.
It doesn't make sense for you at this time. Firstly, a new prius will cost you MSRP sticker price plus at least $3000. So most models will be in the 30, 000 range. Since most use is hwy, the toyota yaris will get nearly 40 on the hwy, compared to prius at 45. and it is 15000 less. Lets do the math, It will take you many years to recoupe the 15000, thats buys a lot of gas. Or wait a year Toyota is supposed to increase production alleviating the demand and price spike. Also, I believe oil will fall in half, and your fuel efficiency needs will be lessened, good luck
The prius is very reliable hardly any problems

How do I get a bit of colour into my wardrobe without a major change?

I wear alot of black and brown and barely any colour. I have casuel clothes which mainly consist of jeans (always jeans), black vest tops, and black or grey tops or hoodies.

My going out stuff is similar. Always jeans with a nice top of some sort, sometimes with a little colour but mainly black. With heels.

I dont do it deliberatly. I dont deliberatly go out to find black clothes, I just end up trying on a load of stuff and the black stuff always looks best.

I'm fairly slender, small hips, smallish boobs but not totally flat, and a bit of a tummy but I'm not fat, but I do my best to cover or disguise my tummy as best as I can.

How can I get a bit of colour into my wardrobe but still disguise my stomach? How do I get a bit of colour into my wardrobe without a major change?
well forever 21 is a bargain shop in the mall, everthing is cheap. they has very nice, colorful clothes and somehow mak you look skinny.

take a look at the website forever21.com

if you don't want to buy new clothes you can wear colourful jewelry that makes you look awesome and bright.

wear like bracelets, necklaces, and beltsHow do I get a bit of colour into my wardrobe without a major change?
if i were you i would probably wear a neon or bright colored belt over my top or a chunky necklace that is bright colored. You could wear bright hair accesories and then black shoes that also have bold colors in them. When I think im wearing to much black I usually wear some bright jewelry to make it stand out more
You should start with a black or brown shirt with a little bit of color in it, like black shirt with pink designs.. Gradually, start using shirts with more colors, but less black.. Soon, you'll be a ';walking rainbow'; haha.. No, i'm just joking! but, you'll be wearing more colors, then old boring black and brown.. hope this helps!
Scarves and jewelry. purses, accessories in general! Also layering your dark shirts with a colored shirt underneath always is one of my favorites!
Scarves are very trendy right now. Pick up a few bright patterns and materials. That also helps with a smallish top.
Accessories!! Wear bright coloured accessories. If you want to disguise your stomach, the best thing to do is draw attention away from it, for example wear a big necklace, big earrings, bright shoes or even a brightly coloured handbag! (But probably not all at the same time!) The best way to disguise a feature you don't like is to draw attention to another feature which you are more confident with!
you can still wear your black and browns with jeans, but i would add some brightly colored pumps. that would add alot of color

maybe you could wear a bright headband or clip

or you could add a colored cami or tank top underneath the black

adding a big colorful bag or purse is always cute too(:
buy reds whites a size larger so it does not appear to fit tight on the stomach, failing that wear long top and slender fitting skirts reds are usually very actractive, this is from my own experences
Scarfs. Always add a scarf. Long or short. Scarfs are affordable. The colours are endless and you can make even just black top and pants go into another colour dimension.....and WOW the ideas are endless...and can look sooooo sultry .

    Good Luck
If you like wearing jeans, maybe go for a tunic dress? they look nice over jeans, casual or dressy. Find a style you like in your colour %26amp; if you don't know what your colour is, try on all the different colours until you find a couple that look really good against your face %26amp; skin. Then stick to those %26amp; find a couple of bits to go with what you already have.

Jewellery still would work, plain tops, you could even get some coloured jeans or bright heels. Just work your way up to a colourful wardrobe for the summer :)x
wear coloured jewellery, or a coloured belt or shoes, or wear a coloured cardigan with jeans
    Accessorise hunny!

scarves, bags, even a brightly coloured tee shirt.

If you pick colours like Coral or Turquoise together (with all black) you look really bright. They dont have to be too gaudy, just different. Lemon and lilac etc. Coloured bags are good - check out kiplings there are zillions on ebay. (or QVC)
Why don't you try some long colourful necklaces. They are great for elongating your body and disguising a stomach. Long coloured scarfs also do a great job. Also there are lots of lovely coloured bolero cardigans which you could wear with black clothes.

How hard is it to get into Theology / Divinity school? (to get my Master's)?

I'm currently a college Senior, a History major. I transferred from a community college. My community college GPA leave a lot to be desired but my current GPA (from my transfer university) is very good. During my studies in my transfer school, I became more interested in studying Theology because of the few required Religion classes I took (it's too late to change majors now!).

My desire in entering Graduate school is to study the New Testament in depth and eventually pursue my PhD and teach in college.

I'm not at all active in school and I've only worked once in my life. I'm currently studying French and will start learning Greek (Koine) soon and when I achieve enough proficiency with it (Greek), I will be looking into Biblical Hebrew or Latin. I will be taking my GRE on October and provided I get a very good score...

With these qualifications in mind, do I have a fighting chance of gaining admission to Graduate Schools of Theology? What can I do to improve my chances?

Thanks! How hard is it to get into Theology / Divinity school? (to get my Master's)?
Normally, an aspiring scholar would want to go directly into a PhD program, but since you will only have a year of Koine Greek, and good knowledge of French, you won't be a very competitive candidate for PhD programs.

However, if you have a high GPA, if your GRE scores are good, and if you have excellent letters of recommendation, a literate and focused personal statement, and a strong writing sample that demonstrates your academic skills in NT analysis, then you certainly have a shot at MDiv and MA programs.

The decision about Masters programs is this: Do you want to study in a denominational seminary, where most students will be preparing for the ministry, or do you want a solely academically-oriented program?

If you prefer a seminary, then choose an MDiv or MTS program accredited by ATS, and associated with your particular religious affiliation. Here's the page on the ATS site that lists member schools:

    www.ats.edu/member_schools/overview.as?

You can also do an MDiv or MTS at one of several prestigious interdenominational seminaries, like GTU in California, Union in NY, Yale Div School, Harvard Div School, or Princeton Theological Seminary. If your GREs are excellent, take a look at these programs, but still keep in mind that an MDiv is USUALLY a preparation for ministry rather than scholarship. (You could certainly still apply for academic PhD programs with an MDiv or MTS in hand, and MDiv and MTS programs will provide you with many opportunities to study more Greek and Hebrew.)

If you prefer non-religiously-affiliated preparation, you will want to look at MA programs in Religion. These programs will not offer study in theology, but will prepare you well for admission to a PhD program in NT. All MA programs in the field serve as ';feeder programs'; to PhD programs. Here are a few:

    University of Missouri at Columbia

    Miami University (Ohio)

    Arizona State U

    University of Colorado

    University of Denver

    University of Kansas

    U of Iowa

    U of Georgia

    U of South Florida

Getting dissatisfied with life. I'm contemplating a major change, but I'm not sure how to go about it. Help?

Ok, well... I'm 22 and I'm currently studying an MBA. Before the MBA, I did a Bachelor of Business (International Business) degree, and prior to that I did a Advance Diploma of Business (International Trade) straight out of high school.

I'm doing my third business qualification, and the thing is... I don't want to start businesses, nor do I have any strong desire to work in the commerce industry. I have NO passion for what I do. I don't even care about money, I just want enough to live comfortably.

I'll probably end up working in the commerce industry... even though I'm not sure if I want to (people in the real world back-stab each other and play politics), I don't think I have a choice.. I've only ever worked for money for two weeks my in whole life, I'm terrible at sports, I don't know how to play a musical instrument. For the past 17 years of my life, it's just been study, study, study.

I only have one direction in my life, but I'm reluctant to pursue it.

I need advice. How do I go about soul-searching? How do I find out what I'm really good at, and passionate about in life?Getting dissatisfied with life. I'm contemplating a major change, but I'm not sure how to go about it. Help?
First off, you're not alone. Many people in your position feel the same way. Remember that all your schooling is technical information and not the practical application of that information. You've provided yourself with an excellent platform from which you can dive into countless careers. An MBA, in all it's practicality, is applicable to just about any field. It sounds to me as if you've focused so much on your education that you've not allowed yourself the time to dream. This isn't the kind of thing that you should cram for. You'll need some time. Time away from the pressures of your degree. Do you have a semester break coming up? That would be a great time to do some soul searching. Don't think about a specific career path at this point. Concentrate on those activities, tasks, and thought processes that you enjoy. Once you've given that some consideration then you can take that information and research potential careers where these activities define success. You might visit your campus' career placement center for some assistance and reference material. Unfortunately, life doesn't come with a road map and very few make every correct turn. Find a place you want to start and remember you don't have to decided everything right now. Good luck.Getting dissatisfied with life. I'm contemplating a major change, but I'm not sure how to go about it. Help?
Think of the things you enjoy doing. Think of happiest moments in your life. Find a job where you can do the things you love and you will never ';work'; again a day in your life. God Bless!
    Do something you hate.

A weird answer, I know, but it worked for me. When I had no direction I joined the US Navy, and it was the most demeaning, degrading, dehumanizing experience of my life, but it taught me who I was. By finding out exactly what I didn't want, I was able to figure out what I did, and now my life is on track. Good luck.
You are not alone in this feeling. Many people feel trapped into pursuing a career that they do not want or is unsuitable for them. Giving you advice as to what you should do is almost impossible without knowing you. But, try this: Make a list of the things you enjoy doing (besides studying). Try to evaluate what kind of person you are. Do you like to help people? Do you like technical challenges? Reading, writing? Sales? They do have career evaluation tests that can help guide you to things that you may have an aptitude for.

I have an MBA and have never used the skills I learned. For me, it was a waste of time.
Get a job. At this point, any work experience is probably going to be better than more school, just based on the way you asked the question, that's my answer, get a job.
This is one of the unfortunate pitfalls of going to college right out of high school and without any practical work experience. How do you know what you are ever going to like? How are you going to know what you don't like? It gets to be a weeding out process and many people end up going to college for a degree and get stuck doing it their whole life and they hate it, but it was the one thing they were schooled for. I was lucky and went back later in life. Even then I thought I knew what I would like to get into. But the college I went to had just started a new class and I was encouraged to get into it. It was a one credit course that was designed to help you figure out what you should be studying for because of your interests. I had worked retail for 20 years, I loved math and psychology, so I figured that one of these would be one of the final five selections that I was given at the end of the course. They weren't on the list. But writing was,(amazing) and a few others that I agree would be the perfect fit for how I feel about things. That was the best class I ever took. I only wish I had had a chance to have done it 20 years ago.
Whether you realize it or not, you have two options that can come from the MBA. Have you considered teaching college?

College business professors may still be involved in politics, but it's far less than the real world, and backstabbing is kinda stupid, since professors tend to stick around at a school for a long time.

College business professors are also fairly well-paid... we're talking somewhere between $70k to $250k depending on the discipline and school you're teaching at. You won't have to worry about money, and you even have the option of getting tenure, which is to say that they can't fire you for anything less than a major crisis.

So you do have a comfortable option that doesn't involve the real world if you're up for taking it, :)

    Good luck!
answer is available within your question. please read the following statements given by you. you will understand your position and state of your mind.

I don't want to start businesses, nor do I have any strong desire to work in the commerce industry

I don't know how to play a musical instrument. For the past 17 years of my life

I only have one direction in my life, but I'm reluctant to pursue it.

I'll probably end up working in the commerce industry... even though I'm not sure if I want to (people in the real world back-stab each other and play politics),

do not confuse yourself. be free to choose your line of job and decide strongly. result will come last. first your direction should be clear and plan it work for it.

avoid imagination and do not under estimate your self at any circumstances. music is not a problem for life. working is important and not the money or company. every organisation respect your involvement and you will get the benefit after hard working for many years.

    start working stop worrying
Soul searching is a journey that can only be traveled alone. You need no luggage for it is a journey you take within yourself. Think of what will truly bring you happiness in life. You may think you have only one direction.Take off the blinders and look at the many roads you can travel on. They are endless.

    No Not Really.
    There are many examples.

2)SNAKE:It initially was a limbed animal with fore and hond limbs.but it lived in grassy-shrubby areas and had to crawl on the ground to locomote from place to place. This resulted in its ultimate loss of limbs.the evidence that it HAD limbs is the presence of reduced pelvic bone and presence or reduced hind limbs.

There are many more which i cant write here...u can refer any evolution book and write.

    College major?

Hi guys. I hate to write this here, but I really need some advice.

I am a fourth-year junior at a University, and I've finished all my general education. I have SO many interests, and really no passions about anything. I have changed majors so many times, I feel ashamed. I have tried so many things, and while I would be happy doing almost anything. I can't seem to find that ';calling'; or ';passion'; to major in. Of all the classes I've taken (a huge range, little of everything), I did very well in everything but my first year of physics and psychology, and I attribute that to my first semester and not concentrating enough. I enjoy learning it.

People say go with your passion, I don't really have one. Or be career-oriented... I'd be happy doing many things. I just don't know how to choose, and I'd really like to graduate sometime within the next few years. Its only down to 30 credits of a major, and 18 credits of a minor.

    Please, advice, anyone?College major?
Does your school offer a liberal studies degree or any interdisciplinary degrees? Instead of worrying about ';your passion'; right this moment, could you be closer than you think to getting a generalist undergrad degree?

I suggest that because then you could probably finish up fairly quickly, get the degree, and then get out and test out the world a bit, just as you have explored a range of studies in school. At some point you could then go to grad school for a specific area of studies if you wished.

You are approaching college in the way it used to be--as a broadening experience. It's only relatively recently that it has turned into a career-prep focus for most people. Tell yourself it isn't you who is out of step--it is everyone else who is consumed with career track, sometimes to the detriment of actually seeking to know the wide world.

In the meantime, could you make this coming summer a time of investigation? Talk to as many people as you can, in a mix of formal meetings and simply polling virtually everyone you meet about their jobs and their career goals and what their working lives are like. Through your parents and their friends, can you meet a huge variety of people? Talk to a store manager, human resources director, special ed therapist, translater, private investigator, editor and journalist, etc. Seek out different occupations throughout a company at various levels. That could be fun for you anyway since you do have such diverse interests and a respect for learning.

Good luck! Don't be too hard on yourself. In an increasingly specialist world, we need some generalists to connect all the pieces.College major?
Know that your major does not determine your job. I heard a joke once that said that the definition of an undergraduate major is what you realize you don't want to do after your graduate!

Time is money (and more importantly, so is tuition!) I'd go ahead and graduate, even if my degree were in basket weaving. Any BA/BS is a wonderful accomplishment and you will find a job. Then you could figure out some more interests and then go back to grad school to hone in on what you really want to do. If you're undecided and can't settle on your interests, you need to declare a major that best matches your coursework. I wouldn't go interdisciplinary, but I'd go general. English, Psychology, Sociology, History, even a business field.

Just pick something and get the paper. Your passion will come to you later.
I know where you are coming from because I've had the same problem. I am interested in a broad spectrum of fields from aerospace engineering to political science. Let me make a few simple suggestions first.

There's a book called ';What Should I Do with My Life?'; by Po Bronson, which I found interesting, especially if you are leaning toward high-tech field. Also your career center has a career test such as SII (Strong Interest Inventory). It tells you what type of person you are such as analytical or creative and suggests some fields for you.

However, ultimately you will have to choose your own destiny. For myself, I had to divide the fields between realistic career goals and hobby. For example, I want to be a physicist so I kept Physics and Computer Science as my main interests. As for Philosophy, Political Science, and a few others, they became my hobbies since I can read those kinds of books on my spare time.

Unless you are independently rich, you have to balance your career with your personal interests. If you study something too general, then you may have trouble finding a job. Also some fields almost always require advanced degrees so if you are definite about not going to graduate school, then you can probably eliminate them since you will not be able to find a job related to it. How about if you go visit your career advisor because they檝e always had at least one useful thing to say?

Could someone explain the current healthcare bill in congress and what the major changes could be?

A non-partisan point of view would be appreciated. I don't understand the medicare issue in relation to this new bill and I'm not really sure how this impacts my taxes, my benefits (I'm single with no kids), etc. Thank you for reading and assisting me in this matter!Could someone explain the current healthcare bill in congress and what the major changes could be?
Thee IS no ';current healthcare bill in Congress'; -- there are TWO bills that need to be reconcilled.

If you want to know the major things that both bills have, and how they will effect various groups of people, go to PBS Newshour's website.

They had an analyst on recently that explained, for each group of people, what the effects are.

I have no idea what you mean by ';the medicare issue'; -- which issue, exactly?Could someone explain the current healthcare bill in congress and what the major changes could be?
From what I gather NO one can explain this bill, not even the demos who put it together, it's scary, even if you are single, to have to start paying for HC and not getting it until at least 2 years latter, or be fined or go to jail, it is never a good thing when our gov uses the word MANDATE to say what we WILL spend our money on,,amen

What does the pre-nursing route consist of at University of Houston?

And how long does it take to complete it? I am a junior at UofH and I've decided to change majors/career choices. So, since I just transfered fall 2009, I don't want to have to find another school, etc. But if pre-nursing at UofHwill take too long.... I will have to consider transferring to another school. What does the pre-nursing route consist of at University of Houston?
You can get a Bachelor of Science Nursing degree from UofH in 3 semesters via an accelerated course track. So three semesters it the shortest time to get a degree. It's on the website.

I answered the question before you added details. And sorry I didn't realize you were incapable of looking at your own college's website so much so that someone else needs to lay everything out for you :-)
