I want to change my major to history! How can I do this?

I want to change my major to history. I can't stand what I'm currently studying (paralegal) and I would like to continue school instead of working as a paralegal when I graduate in December with an associate degree in paralegal studies. I want to go on and get a BA in History. My dad doesn't support my decision and wants me to have a career as a paralegal because there are more job opportunities. I want to study history because it is my life and my passion, but I know that the job opportunities for history are extremely limited and I don't want to be a history teacher. I want to work at a historic site or in a museum. What should I do? My parents don't support me going into history, but I can't stand law! It's making me miserable! I'm having trouble staying motivated to even finish it for December. I have so much of it done that it would make more sense to finish so I'm trying to push myself to finish.I want to change my major to history! How can I do this?
Talk to a college counselor and they will set you on the right path. I admire your passion for I love history myself. My nose is always burried in a history book, lol. Forget about what your father thinks and go with what you want to do. Good luck.I want to change my major to history! How can I do this?
Go to your student advisor and let him or her know and you should be able to change without a problem.

How hard is nursing school?

so im a sophomore in high school now but since its almost summer and ill be like a junior in a couple months, i was thinking of some majors that i want to do in college. and what really interested me was nursing school. maybe its still too early to think about majors, but at least i still have some thoughts. so i just want to know if nursing school was hard to get in. i want to go into Massachusetts School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS) and i was wondering if its hard to get into nursing in that school. (great advice from those who went to that school). and IF i got into nursing school, would they like only take a certain number of students and like the rest who didnt get in would have to change majors? (because this happened to my cousin for pharmacy school, but i know pharmacy and nursing are two different careers; her pharmacy school only took 100 students out of 400 students.) and i failed a quarter of biology this year (our school has four quarters per school year). would this affect my admission chances into nursing school?How hard is nursing school?
I am not going to school for nursing. I was going to, but changed my mind. However my mother went to Nursing school and I know quite a few people who have. I do know that it is extremely difficult, more so than most fields.How hard is nursing school?
The nursing program is supposed to be extremely intense with a lot of information and concepts to be learned. Being strong in the sciences (anatomy %26amp; physiology, biology, chemistry, biochem) is typically necessary, too. Regarding nursing school admissions, it's typically very competitive and each program usually only has a certain number of seats available. You may already be aware but there are a few different levels of nursing including an associate (two-year) degree such as the one offered through the local community college to become an ADN (associate degree in nursing), bachelor's (four-year) degree to become a BSN (bachelor of science in nursing) and a master's (perhaps six years of college if attend on a full-time basis) degree.

Many freshman entering college don't have a definite idea of what they would like to major in at school. It's okay if you would like to take different courses while at school and declare a major sometime later on :) Go with your passion is what career experts suggest. Do you know of any case-studies of hospital restructuring? I need a way to measure outcomes of major changes.?

I am curious to find case studies or reports detailing the outcome of major restructuring in a hospital setting . I need information on creating a survey that could be administered at another hospital, to compare objectives with outcomes. How do other hospitals measure if they have been successful or not, or if the big changes actually helped? Please let me know of any articles or reports, or good places to search for them. Thank you!Do you know of any case-studies of hospital restructuring? I need a way to measure outcomes of major changes.?
I can't find the example right now, but we have done a hospital restructuring example in people management. What they did was to provide each bed with a touch screen computer for a few reasons. First for the doctors to enter information and for nurses to see medicines and dosages. Then patients can report on what they like and what they don't like. This gives the management feedback on what they are doing right and where they are going wrong. Let's face it you provide a service in a hospital and you need to rate it.

Netcare in South Africa have restructured their hospitals to streamline their processes.

Changing major to nutrition to actuarial science?

I am a nutrition major and over the past 3 years, i didn't enjoy much of my classes. I love science and how human body work. but I'm really not so interested in community/public health/foodservice MGMT.

I'm good at numbers and solving problems. Actuarial science seems very challenging.I looked at the degree plan and find those math class interesting. I can graduate this December with a dietetic nutrition major. Or If I take enough classes in the following 3 semesters, I will be able to graduate in Actuarial science degree next summer. what should I do?? I feel ok about being a dietitian but I seriously think dietitians are underpaid. I meant. We spent 4 years in college taking nutritional science/bio/chem/nursing classes and we have to do 6mo post graduate academic/clinical intern and pay for the extra education.I don't know if its worth it to do nutrition. Actuarial science seems like a better option for the long run.Changing major to nutrition to actuarial science?
stay with actuarial...it'll prvide a lot of better oppurtunities in the future in compartison to deitary nutrition

    Since you recognize that the SOP should be based on why you want to change your major the answer must come from you. Why do you want to change your major?/

    How can architects get involved in movies?

    I am studying architecture. I love it but my true passion is acting. And I plan on pursuing acting after I finish my college degree in four years, I'll be 22. But just in case Acting doesn't work out is there anyway an architect can be involved in movie production like set design?

    sometime I think I should have gone into communications to be more in that field. But ever since I was little I wanted to be an architect it is tough and If I wasn't any good I'd change majors but I'm doing very well in school.

    what is your advice?How can architects get involved in movies?
    If you really want to be an actor or actress then you should take courses while you are still in college

    even if you take part time courses to get some acting under your belt before you are finished college.

    The acting field is not that easy to get into nowadays so you need a lot of study under your belt before you even think of pursuing an acting career.When you are through school You can apply to the actors studio in New York City.It is a great place to learn the craft if you can get in . Do some research on it in your spare time because when you apply for an acting job and they ask you what have you done where did you study and you tell them where you learned your craft, and you tell them the Actors Studio in New York City. That makes a great impression on them .and they will remember you .

    Lots of luck with your career And start learning now do some school plays to get experience under your belt while you can.Good luck

    Thinking about changing major to Nursing?

    I am currently a senior in high school. I have a current GPA of 3.10 to 3.30 and an ACT score of 29. I have been accepted and currently set on going to Minnesota State University Moorhead, which runs about $11,000 a year. My current selected major is Computer Science.

    Recently, I have thought about changing my major to Nursing to become a Registered Nurse. Not only is the pay attractive but also I think I would have good qualities for thsi type of work. I can stand the sight and smell of blood and feces (I ';cleaned'; cows last summer for a part-time job). Over the years, I have become able to keep my emotions in check and be able to make good decisions, which I believe will be helpful throughout the emotional work of medical work. I am very self-motivated when I need to be and I believe I work better under stress.

    What I would like to know is if I will be cut out for this kind of work and what else will be demanded of me. I would also like to know how long it will take after receiving my BSN (schooling, etc.) and anything else I need to do to become a Registered Nurse. Also, I would like to know about how much it will cost to attend nursing school.Thinking about changing major to Nursing?
    I can't tell from your avatar if you are a man or woman (sorry 8-), but if you are a man your ego has to be OK with being in a female dominated profession.

    As a nurse you will:

    1. Be under a lot of stress

    2. Your job will be physically demanding

    3. Doctors and patients can both be rude to you

    4. You will always be in high demand and will easily get a job right out of college.

    5. Nurses make good money and high end nurses (nurse anestasists, for example) can make $200K

    6. You must have HIGH tolerance for human interaction (helps to be an extrovert)

    7. You get paid hourly - the more hours they make you work, the more you get paid.

    As a computer programmer

    1. you job will NOT be physically demanding - you'll sit in a chair a lot.

    2. It is very competitive in college and the job market - you need to be good at what you do to get a good job.

    3. most computer programmers won't make as much as most nurses

    4. you'll probably work in a cubicle somewhere and have much less human interaction than a nurse

    5. if you work for a high-tech company (Oracle, Microsoft, etc) you may be expected to a lot of hours. Unlike being a nurse - you don't get paid for all the extra hours you work.

    6. This job is fine for introverts or extroverts.

    Good LuckThinking about changing major to Nursing?
    follow your heart, and do what YOU think is right for you! I'll let others answer the specifics, but just make sure you follow your passions
    I'd recommend setting up an appointment with a nurse and shadowing her/him for a day or two. It would give you a better idea if you'd like to do it.

    There are three different routes to obtain your RN--diploma, associates degree, %26amp; bachelor degree. The higher the degree, the longer time it takes to obtain. From beginning to end, diploma programs %26amp; associates degree take 2-3 years, %26amp; bachelor degree typically takes 4 years. The costs could range anywhere, depending on each program.

    Make sure whatever program you take is accredited, this is the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission: http://www.nlnac.org/Forms/directory_sea

    Good luck! :)
    Once you graduate you can usually take your NCLEX almost immediately, within a month is normal. Nursing is an excellent career and I would recommend it to just about anybody. I have no idea how much your school would cost you are in a different state. Another added benefit is that less than 10% of nurses are men so if you are single that can be an advantage. I say go for it.

    Have you ever had a major event change your relationship with a sibling?

    How did you deal with it? I am really close to my sister and another person has come into her life which is making her change (she is falling in love)--she seems happier but I miss the way she used to act towards me. Communicating with her is becoming challenging. I'm afraid this new relationship is changing her in good ways and maybe not good ways.Have you ever had a major event change your relationship with a sibling?
    Once the excitment has worn away from her being in love, things will then pick up again. You 2 need 2 have a sisterly chat and be there fkor her and just mention how you feel and maybe arrange a shopping day together. I you don't have a boyfriend maybe her boyfriend has a friend. Then you could double date. I have 2 daughters who are 2 years apart and the eldest one is always talking about a certain guy at school who is also a best friend. We get sick of hearing his name and he calls at least 3 to 4 times a day even after school. Shes just experiencing what its like to be in love and all the romantic things etc etc.Have you ever had a major event change your relationship with a sibling?
    Well me and my sister use to play fight and everything but she got docked up and married and now we never do anything like that.
    bye the way! you didn't mention your age!

    If your sister is 18+ please let her explore the new the new world of Love other then being a daughter or sister!

    And if you are somewhere around sweet sixteen or up, its time for you too follow sister's footstep.

    You will not complain. This is the dynamics of relationships where the ratio keep on increasing and decreasing with different relationships time to time.

    Its absolutely NORMAL honey dont complain!!

    The actuarial exams are some of the most difficult tests in existence. It's been said that you should study 100 hours or more for every hour of the exam you will be taking. So for exam 2/FM for instance, you would need to devote at least 200 hours to studying for it to have a good shot at passing. Also, it should be noted that thousands of math, statistics, and economics majors fail at least on of the first couple of exams.

    I'm not saying all of this to scare you away, but rather to make sure that you understand just how difficult and strenuous it can be to become an actuary.

  • Is there a limit to how many semesters federal financial aid will fund for?

    Just curious for people on the 6 year plan and so forth or for people who change majors and it extends their graduation by a year. Do they stop funding after a student gets to a certain amount of credits?Is there a limit to how many semesters federal financial aid will fund for?
    Yes, you have to meet your college's satisfactory academic progress requirements. Usually people get in trouble with this because they have too low of a GPA or complete too few of their classes. But it also sets a limit on the number of total credit hours you can get and still receive federal aid.

    There may be separate limits for state grants, I know there is in Illinois.

    If you want real change isn't it time to break up the Democrat/Republican monopoly on US Govt?

    How can Presidential candidates talk about change in US Govt. when they are part of the parties (Democrat %26amp; GOP) that have caused all of the problems in the first place?

    If these candidates really wanted to show that wanted to make the major changes that need to happen in Washington they should start by starting new political parties to break the monoploy that the Dems %26amp; GOP have had for over 100 years.If you want real change isn't it time to break up the Democrat/Republican monopoly on US Govt?
    There are the independents and the green party, but it will take along time for them to become organized and funded enough to compete on a large scale. From an American's point of view, they won't bother to vote for a person who doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of winning, they would be throwing away their vote.If you want real change isn't it time to break up the Democrat/Republican monopoly on US Govt?
    The parties are a reflection of the masses. To change the party system and what happens in Gov't its the people that put the candidates in power that need to change themselves. If anyone is to blame its our system of majority rule.
    To answer your question, yes. However, everyone keeps voting for the same parties. In fact, people keep voting for the same damn people! This is why you have 30 year Senators. Then, these same people are polled to determine approval rating, and they give Congress an approval rating less than President Bush's. Our political situation is our own fault.
    the lections are jokes, we are run by cartel bosses and banks!!! wake up america...
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Wash (under domestic issues)

    Our first president believed that we should not form political parties because they would rip our nation apart... and now they have! We absorb knowledge so well.
    If ';we the people'; had guts, courage, and balls, we would read the Declaration of Independence, and act on the instructions provided therein. The national elections are a facade, and the duped citizens march to the polls like robots, every four years and vote for one of two candidates, who were placed before them as choices by big money. Money corrupts! Money is power! Money controls! Politics is big money, corruption, and power of the elite, at the expense of the average, working-class citizen. Our laws are perverted to satisfy the desires of big money, example emminent domain is violated everyday, in order to take property from those who cannot defend themselves from the wealthy corporate vultures. The people desparately need a representative government, whereby the people vote directly on issues of national magnitude, such as abortion, capital punishment, etc.

    How do I get my major changed?

    Hello, I'll be attending SFSU as a freshman this fall...on my application I already declared Journalism as my major, but I would like to make tha tmy minor and make Political Science my major instead.

    How would I go about doing that? What office should I go to?How do I get my major changed?
    Contact the admissions office since you're still a new future student.How do I get my major changed?
    You will most likely be assigned an adviser who will help you with this. I wouldn't worry about it, though; a lot of people don't declare a major until their second year and even then people change their minds all the time. Not a big deal.

    I need information on a Honda Civic Hybrid?

    I live in Los Angeles and I drive about 40,000 miles (vast majority on the highway) per year. Would a Civic Hybrid die out on me? How often would I change major parts on a hybrid? I've heard about major defects with the gas tank/gauge. I need to know as much as I can before I pay.

    If anyone has any alternatives to the Civic, please, let me know your suggestions and information on the model. Thanks!!!!!I need information on a Honda Civic Hybrid?
    the point of the hybrid is use in heavy traffic (street mileage). The honda civic hybrid gets best gas mileage in stop and go traffic, if your going to be driving mostly highway miles your better off with a regular honda civic.I need information on a Honda Civic Hybrid?
    visit hondacars.com or ebay.com

    for sure and efficient answer....

    -jane
    try the honda fx clarity only 600 a month for 3 years and aits a hydrogen fueled behichle and theres a fueling station in los angeles its 76 miles per galon
    Forget the hybrid and go for the real deal : a Honda Civic GX! They run only on natural gas, which is cheaper than gasoline by a fair amount, cleaner by a long shot, and you're lucky enough to be in a state that has refueling stations. That's the car to have.

    How many people have gone into the wrong career?

    How many people went through college for the wrong profession, or had to change majors halfway through? Was it your own mistake and misguidance, or were your parents constantly pressuring you into a profession that you didn't enjoy? If so, what is your profession and what would you rather be doing?How many people have gone into the wrong career?
    Three of my cousins had this situation in the past few years. All three of them change colleges and majors at least twice, and it was the fact that they were indecisive about what they wanted, and wanted to do the best they could and it wore them out. in addition to that, our family has a lot of competition, so everyone thinks they have to be the best. also, at the new found freedom at being away from college, it was fun at first but scared them. as of now, they'r'e at new schools studying happily. one is newly married, and after switching from a minister to a nurse to a teacher, is employed and happy.

  • Question about Purdue Major?

    I am a senior at a high school in Ohio and I applied to Purdue - West Lafayette. I got into my second choice, Aeronautical Engineering Technology. How is it different from Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering? I want to become an Aerospace engineer, so could I transfer to Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering major immediately before I start classes ,or after a semester. I hear that changing majors is simple at Purdue, and that the freshman year courses are very generic, which would make transferring simpler. Should or could I transfer and how soon can I do it?Question about Purdue Major?
    If you know who your academic adviser is, I would email them and ask them if it'd be easier to transfer before school starts. From what I've heard though it probably wouldn't matter, because freshmen engineering courses are all basically the same. I'm not in engineering, but I've switched my major twice and am still graduating on time, so I'm sure you can work it out!

    How do I transfer schools while in rotc?

    I recently contracted to rotc with the army, but I am considering changing majors. Unfortunately the major I'm looking at is not offered at my school. I'm in my sophmore year. Can you transfer schools, while on scholarship. What would be the process of transfering and perhaps maintaining the rotc scholarship? what would I have to do to do that? Or could I transfer from Army rotc to NROTC with a marine option and keep the scholarship? How do I transfer schools while in rotc?
    You can transfer schools as long as the other school has ROTC also. Talk to the NCOs at your det. You won't be the first cadet and you won't be the last.

    Normally, you keep your scholarship but the cap is tied to whichever school has cheaper tuition.

    If you transfer to NROTC, you will lose your Army ROTC scholarship.

    You may or may not be able to compete for a NROTC scholarship.

    Do you think you have the ability to make a major change in this world?

    Please put your religion or athiest because I think religion has to do with a part of this question - how you view it.Do you think you have the ability to make a major change in this world?
    This is our life

    These are our days

    This is us trying to find our way

    This is the love

    This is the dream

    This is us learning how to be.... who we are,..... who we are

    Cause this is our life

    This is our life

    These are our friends

    This is our family that grows and dance

    This is our chance

    This is our time

    This is us making things........... to somehow leave behind

    What will we leave behind........... to show

    That this is our life

    ..................

    Cause i am so thankful

    For each moment that we share...

    Right here is everything i need

    I love our life ..........and I love you so much honey

    Thank you for loving me

    Oh, this is our life

    Straight or a mess

    These are our memories in progress

    This is our work

    This is our hope

    This is us learning how to cope

    And laugh and cry

    Cause it's all yours and mine

    This is our life

    what will i leave behind i guess is the question here..and yes i believe i can make a positive impact on the world=]Do you think you have the ability to make a major change in this world?
    Will it count, even if I wanted to?
    Nope! As a True Christian I am not here to change the World.

    My job is to tell others of HIM and to PRAISE HIM.

    ~~~~~~~~for fun I write=
    I leave the Important task of SAVING THE WORLD TO ALGORE.
    ALGORE invented the Internet (he says so) and will defeat GLOBAL WARMING in a feld sweep-- so much so that during his stay in office as President of the USE we will soon enter GLOBAL COOLING. (and that will be real trouble.)
    Yes, but I don't care enough to do it. I have no religion...I believe in a higher power and that's all.
    Nope, I'm only one person. I'm agnostic.
    I feel you can't expect others to create a better world, it is my responsiblity to do big or small what I can. So I adopted a drug addicted baby (It's a long story but, God told me too... and no I'm not crazy). People talk about stopping abortions, but what about the children that ARE HERE. If half the people that protest for or against abortion, adopted a child or became a forster parent, hell even helped out in public school the world would be a better place.
    i am a christian catholic. yes. i believe i have the ability to effect a major change in this world... starting with myself, of course.
    Ok, atheist.
    Yes, I do have the ability to make a major change in this world. I'm a chemist. I could help discover the next new drug or a cheaper way of producing vaccines needed in other countries. On the other hand, I could help to develop the world's answer to thermonuclear warheads, a weapon so powerful that continents would be shaken by the detination of a single one. And if we're looking from a completely individualistic standpoint, I could be the one to make the key development for either case.
    I could heal the world or destroy it. I consider that a major change.
    Totally!!!The changes start because of what you do in everyday life.You should treasure what you have now and live like there is no tomorrow!!!!
    Is being a Pediatric nurse good for somebody who was initially an education major?
    I'm finishing up my 4th year in college I am a junior! Would it be wise to change majors at this point. Only pre-nursing program available at the university I go. Approximately how many more years until I start seeing the light at the end of the road haha.Is being a Pediatric nurse good for somebody who was initially an education major?
    Hi Stacies Mom,
    I would strongly advise against changing majors at this point. Nursing may take you four years full-time if you switch. To begin with, nursing is a technical major, the courses need to be taken in sequence, and it requires that you are licensed before you can become a nurse. In addition from your posting it indicates that you have at best only met some of the general education requirements for the major. Even if you go for the the two year associates degree program it will take you probably three years to complete full-time. The two year program can be in high demand and sometimes you have to wait a year before you can start. Plus the two years is an intensive two years in which you may be carrying a very heavy academic load and if you spread out the load you are looking again probably four years to complete.
    Another issue you may encounter since you are doing pre-nursing is you do not meet the requirements for admission. Each nursing has specific requirements before you enter the nursing sequence and they also have minimum GPA(s) that need to be met. If you do not meet the requirements for entrance then you will not be admitted. Also in your question that you mentinon that the university only offers pre-nursing and this implies to me you would have to attend elsewhere. Are you prepared to move or travel if you are accepted?
    This brings me to the next point of employment. Your education major seems to be art or maybe foreign language. However your interest in nursing suggest indicates ability for science? Have you considered teaching biology, chemistry, or mathematics at the high school level instead? Reason for this suggestion is that art teachers tend not be in big demand for schools. It is not to say that you there are no jobs for art teachers but from an employment perspective the demand for science or math teachers is much higher. At least this way you are staying with in your field of ecuation and the time needed maybe less.Is being a Pediatric nurse good for somebody who was initially an education major?
    If time needed to complete your degree and distance are consideration for you then I would recommend bi-lingual education, not nursing. I would only recommend nursing if you are willing to invest the time and money into doing it.
    Report Abuse
    No, if time. If I switch to bilingual it'll take the same as nursing because I have not taken any of the early child pre reqs since I was initially going for high school level.
    Report Abuse
    Wise? What would be really unwise is majoring in education if that's not the field that fits you! Go talk to a college counselor! Find out exactly what you would need for a nursing degree. You might even need to change schools. But changing might not be as bad as you think, because you might be able to count your education courses as electives.
    You might even decide to be a school nurse, in which case your education courses could be an advantage!
    I want to propose a major change to the English language, what are the steps I need to take?
    Danish/Norwegian use the reflexive pronoun ';sit'; to refer back to the subject, whether or not the subject is male or female.
    English has no such feature. For example, we can either say, ';the user has firefox installed on HIS computer'; or ';the user has firefox installed on HER computer';. In Danish, the word ';sit'; would essentially be used in place of the Danish equivalent for HIS or HER.
    So English needs something like this: ';the user has firefox installd on SIT computer'; (and we would all take SIT to be either masculine, feminine or both, depending on the context).
    I really think it would solve problems with people using the male gender to mean both genders.
    How would I go about proposing this change to the English language? I am serious about this. Thanks in advance.I want to propose a major change to the English language, what are the steps I need to take?
    There is no ';Royal Academy of the English Language'; with power to accept or reject changes. Language is organic and cannot be mandated, even in countries ruled by monarchies.
    How would you go about proposing this change? You just finished doing all you can do.
    But using the Danish word would not work anyway because everyone would just assume it was a typo for 'its'.I want to propose a major change to the English language, what are the steps I need to take?
    You can't. It's actually, literally, and in all other ways impossible to ';change'; a language just by submitting a proposition to a committee. The only way to do it is to use the word in language, and make others do so until it catches on.
    there is no such problem in normal english because we use the word 'their'. the only problem is that self-appointed language experts, who precisely by making the pronouncements they do reveal themselves to be ignoramuses in this area, keep fighting against this wonderful innovation in the language. and, of course, if anyone where to try your idea, the same pedants would be in the vanguard of the battle to stop you. note, by the way, that english, being a germanic language, once has pronoun forms cognate with the 'sit/sin' word but lost it. your cause is romantic but hopeless.
    Contact the office of the President of English. Or the Prime Minister of English, if you're over yonder. Just don't pester the Queen about it, K?
    We could use ';seg'; for the generic reflexive pronoun. Or we could use ';ce';, but spell it as ';莽e'; just to be different. Let us agree between us to begin doing that now. Everyone else will catch on and follow us. Det var sikkert!
    Of course ';their'; is incorrect, but, hey, that's what 'they' use. Everyone says (right or wrong) : ';Everyone has their issues'; even careful newscasters do this (much to the displeasure of people like me who are purists.';
    Sit (spelled SITTin Norwegian and Swedish,) refers back to the 3rd person subject (singular or plural, you are right), but would you like to have to conjugate the possessive pronoun for gender (sin bil, si klokka, sitt hus) and number 'sine biler, klokker, hus)?
    And in Norwegian, you still need to use hans 'his'm hennes 'hers' if someone else owns the object. Deres if they own it. So as you see, the Scandinavian system is far from simple either,
    Pronouns are exceedingly open for historical development in all the Germanic languages, and I'll bet if you can wait another 50 years, there will be a natural development. (You know the distinction between 'who' and 'whom' has all but disappeared in the last 50 years.
    How to cancel an admission application from the art Institute schools?
    I applied for the art institutes of Los Angeles. I decided to change majors. However, it was too late because I already submitted the application. I would like to know how to cancel the admission process and put the money back on my parents bank account. Thank you so much!How to cancel an admission application from the art Institute schools?
    HA! You're funny...
    I wonder how many people have tried that one...Oh yeah, I don't want to go to your school...Can I have my 30 bucks back?
    Sorry man, but there is no chance in Hell that you're getting your money back. That's why you have to research the school and make sure it's REALLY what you want. Otherwise you're just throwing your money at a school you don't really want to go to.How to cancel an admission application from the art Institute schools?
    You can certainly write and withdraw your application, but it may be that the fee cannot be returned. By now, your application will have gone through a certain amount of processing, and that's what the fees are for. Often, it is made clear that fees are non-refundable.
    I need advice on whether I should switch my major or not.?
    So, currently I am in the Management Information Systems Specialization at OSU. I've had an interest in computer. I really enjoy Microsoft Office, and I enjoyed beginning programming last quarter. However, I'm in an advanced programming class, and not enjoying it. The book is unreadable for me, I absolutely hate reading it and learning on how programs work, I could care less. I never minded the actual programming before; however, we just received our first lab, which is overwhelming, and then I started wondering if this is what I actually want to spend my remaining two years here, doing. This just came on strong today, I don't know if this is a normal feeling eveyrone gets, that I should try and stick it out, or if I should actually change majors. I don't even want to look at the book anymore or try to figure out some code right now.
    Before this I was in Human Resources, and comtemplating between these two specializations. I don't know if I should back into that.I need advice on whether I should switch my major or not.?
    I am in the opposite boat as you. I too am in MIS at Liberty U, but really enjoy programming. However, MIS is more of an analytical and management approach to IT. At a job, an MIS director would not be programming; however, it is good knowledge to have. As an MIS manager, you would be responsible for the management and integration of business processes, data flow, and information technology integration. Good Luck on your decision.
    Graduating in May and realizing I hate my major.?
    I am graduating in May with a masters degree in finance. Its bad enough that the current economy means if I actually get a job it probably won't pay enough to pay off all my student loans and credit card debt.
    As I'm getting older and seeing all the problems in this world I really want to do something to help. I don't think being a stockbroker will ever give me a chance to make this world a better place. While I was sitting in the sophisticated finance lab at my school I realized that every business student in that room with me will never cure cancer...in fact we will never even try. We all went to school for four years to try to figure out how to make money...which only a few people actually do(and the ones that do are usually the ones with the well to do parents that get them a job at Morgan Stanley...something I do not have). We will never try to make a product that actually improves someones quality of life, we will just try to make money when someone else makes that invention. Not that the world doesn't need some bankers or traders but certainly not as many as colleges are pumping out nowadays.
    It depresses me that most of America's problems in the last few decades have economic links which are caused by unscrupulous businessmen looking to make a buck. Obviously the current crisis on Wall Street is a great example. And this is what I've been striving for, the chance to wear a dark suit, white shirt and red tie, work 100 hours per week, make $300k a year plus bonus, and live a comfortable life.
    It took me untill now to realize this isn't what I want to do which i suppose is better then realizing it after working for 30 years but still I cant exactly change majors now that I'm 23 and finishing my masters degree. Also with all the debt Ive collected paying for this education I cant just join the peace corp and try to make a difference. The reality is I need a career that will allow me to survive financially and my degree is in finance so thats probably where Im going to end up. So I guess my specific question is what can I do with a degree in Finance that is actually honorable and might make the world a better place to live? My general question is what can i do with my life to help others?...not talking about something like volunteering at a soup kitchen for an hour or something...Im talking about doing something with my entire life that will benefit mankind.Graduating in May and realizing I hate my major.?
    Lostus nailed it!
    You can also get a job a larger firm making lots of money, but then just put it all to good use -helping those in need.
    Do you remember the show Perry Mason? The main actor didn't really want to be an actor. He wanted to make the world better, but he became famous as an actor. So he did the only thing that he could do. He gave all of his money to charity (throughout his life). He was even quoted as saying, ';If I die with more than $10 in my pocket, I've failed to make a difference in the world';.
    So try to find a way to help make the world better with your current degree. Not all great men change the lives of others by putting on lab jackets. Some of the best wore a cheap suit to the board room.Graduating in May and realizing I hate my major.?
    find a job in the non-profit sector. there are tons of finance related jobs that are in industries that do good things in the world.
    Are you kidding? Knowing how to do finances is a totally valuable skill to non-profits, %26amp; any volunteer work you do. This kind of actual professional knowledge is what these organizations crave. They can find do-gooders to pitch in. But these can make the difference between a struggling organization %26amp; an effective one, well run, with most of it's donations helping those in need, instead of leaking out in unnecessary ways.
    Look around for other degrees or coursework you can combine this with. Meanwhile, get a job, learn the skills...you will make a difference if you want to.
    Our local child of holocaust survivor group would have fallen apart if a friend of one of us, not a child of survivors, hadn't stepped into the treasury role. As job, you can do even more.
    if you listened to your own heart,your own instinct instead of society you would'nt have this problem.You are on this earth for a millisecond for such a short time don't drag yourself through it doing whats best or what will give you the greatest security,security is the denial of life,do what brings your life the greatest amount of value.What do you want to be remembered for?
    If you are the philanthropist type you can use youer degree with many many non profits that need financial direction,all is not lost.Consider what you love and think is important and follow after that.
    One career that has a fairly clear benefit to others would be a financial planner. People will come to you in hopes to earn as much money as possible to live comfortably later in life, and you will enable this.
    Also, if your goal is to help people, you will find opportunities. There are many volunteer opportunities outside of soup kitchens; you just need to look for them.
    You could always join the Peace Corps and such... although you may want to make money right away. Wesley has a point; becoming a financial planner covers a lot of areas. If you play your cards right, you can help a lot of people and make a lot of money. Also, you have the option of working/consulting with non profits as well. Good Luck.
    Have you made any major change in some aspect of your way to be?
    How do you do? I do not want to change my thinking or my ';essence'; but I have to change many things as my great timidity, if I am not antisocial, i am something similar. I am very shy, often i seem unfriendly, I leave out of my house very little (almost nothing) and this hurts me a lot. Even, sometimes, at school, if a teacher asked the class to something, many times, I knew the answer, but I did not answer the question, for my shyness. I think I am a very good person and I would be very nice if I were not so shy. Well, I hope you have understood. Hopefully you can help. Greetings.Have you made any major change in some aspect of your way to be?
    I was verrry shy when I was younger (all through childhood and teen years). But I wanted to be able to be more outgoing, because there were so many things I wanted to do.
    By the time I was in college, and somewhat on my own, I had come up with a plan. I would ';pretend'; I was one of those bold and outgoing people, for different situations. I did a little street drama (by ';pretending'; to be someone else doing it). I did my student teaching, I gave speeches (had to)... but always, I pretended I was ';one of those people'; who just did those things.
    Eventually, I grew more comfortable with myself and life and I was able to stop pretending and just BE that person who was outgoing.
    I still have a bit of a shy streak in me... and, although I am comfortable in front of crowds or among the crowd, still, I am at my best, when I am alone.Have you made any major change in some aspect of your way to be?
    Yes, I watch Oprah
    uhmmmmmmmm Hello, Smile.
    I like smart people, Im shy to , but really I talk ';WAY'; to much. Then I feel stupid because I just blabbed so much..
    So could I have a little of your shyness and you can have some of my out goingness.. :) ';PLEASE'; (:
    God bless.
    Yes. I'm more quiet and I listen to what people wants'
    This is a very tough question, because you say you don't want to change your thinking, or essence, yet you want to present yourself to the world as a different, more confident person.
    You will have to at least change your thinking, because you are locked in.
    You will have to learn to disassociate yourself from your former self, and from your timidity, lose the emotions. You can actually do that by convincing yourself that what other people think is irrevalent, so you are free to speak your mind in class without being embarrassed.
    You can continue to be a loner, but when you start speaking up, and still remain aloof, people will begin to see you in a different light.
    Boys will see you as hard to figure out, and girls will see you as hard to get close to.
    Both concepts will lead to people beginning to gravitate towards you, and as they do, your situation will begin to change.
  • What are some cheap ways to increase performace of car?
    i got a 2000 bmw 528i and i feel like i want more power from it,
    how would i increase its performance without changing major parts?
    would changing the ECU help? if so, how much would it cost?What are some cheap ways to increase performace of car?
    Forget the tornado. Independent tests show a loss of power. After all, it partially blocks the airflow into the engine. I'd try a QUALITY cold air intake (remember that you'll get what you pay for) and a free-flowing exhaust system (still not cheap, but cheaper than what's next.) The next step would be a new ECU and possible bigger injectors - and you might as well change the camshaft while you're there. Don't bother changing your ECU right away - you'll get no more power until is has something to work on. The stock one is ideal for a stock engine.
    Don't forget that, as power increases, so should your braking and handling.What are some cheap ways to increase performace of car?
    well i would say a cold air intake or they do sell an item called the tornado which is guaranteed to increase fuel by up to 20 percent
    One of the best ways is to get a K%26amp;N air filter, they're superior in every way, and often give more than a few percentage points increase in horsepower due to increased air flow.
    The Computer chip can cost several hundred, so not sure what budget you're on. Exhaust tuning is another relatively ';cheap'; way to get more power, but cheap is relative. A muffler that does it may cost several hundred dollars as well. If you're looking for cheap under-$100 type increases, there aren't many. Sorry. Air filter is one of the few.
    - The Gremlin Guy -
    dont buy the tornado, its garbage, just messes your engine up in the long run.
    you can put a true cold air intake, people will tell you that air intakes aRE all the same, not true. $200 will get you a decent air intake that you will notice gains from. with an air intake you have to get rid of the increased air flow, so you would also want to get a set of performance headers, downpipe, a high-flow catylitic convertor, and a performance exhaust with all bigger exhaust piping. with the right headers and intake, you could notice as much as 20-40 HP difference, and it'll sound awesome.
    you could also get the ECU chipped or programmed by a performance shop after this to add more fuel to your new found air. or you could invest in a meth injection kit(can be sketchy because if you run out of meth you'll kill the engine.) or perhaps a small shot of nitrous, a 50 shot of nitrous would do wonders and not harm your engine as bad as some things could.
    Summer = Major change?
    Starting this summer (because I need time to prepare myself and finals are coming up so I have to focus on that), I want to have a huge change. I'm planning on getting a new hairstyle and fixing up my personality and attitude as well as change my clothing style.
    Only problem is, I have an amazingly big problem when it comes to style. I have no idea what to wear. I would subscribe to magazines but I'm not allowed to. So I honestly don't know what to do. I've never really been into fashion/style as a child. I just wore whatever was given to me so now I'm completely clueless. Any suggestions?
    Also, any advice on how to not be so lazy? I tend to put things off until the night before they're due before actually doing them. I say I'm going to exercise, come up with a plan, and never actually done it. And things like that.Summer = Major change?
    Cool me too! I was never into it. But now Im obsessed with fashion. Just start out looking in stores, getting an idea of the styles.
    Make goals for yourself everyday, and don't end the day until you finish them. You have to put your mind to it and not procrastinate. Stay focused , Join a local gym, Get involved in sports/activites.
    Practice everyday to improve your attitude, through yoga, or anything you enjoy doing. Its all a mental-process.Summer = Major change?
    stop procrastinating #1
    and 2 you have to provide us with what kinda style you like,
    theres punk,preppy,hippy,.lol alot of stuff!
    you'll regret it if you wait till the last minute.
    Should I change my major?
    I am an English major in my final year, planning to become a teacher. I think I would like to be a psychiatrist, psychologist, or doctor-- how much would I be set back if I changed? Should I? My strengths are in language, not medicine, but I think I would prefer the job field, especially considering the economy. How many more years would I have to be in school?
    Any advice would be appreciated.Should I change my major?
    Generally to get into medical school you need a four year degree, and you must also take the MCAT (medical college admissions test). If you are on your way to getting a four year degree and you think you would like to become a doctor or psychiatrist you would need to go to medical school. Even though a psychiatrist only works with the mentally ill, they usually have a medical degree just like any other doctor. Schooling for a psychologist is different, but it usually involves a four year program focusing mainly on mental health issues and how to treat different forms of mental health problems. Going to be a doctor involves four years of medical school, a year of internship, and then at least three, or more, years of residency- depending on the specialty you want to pursue. I wouldn't advise going to medical school unless you are really devoted to medicine and think you will really enjoy it. It isn't for the faint of heart, and it isn't a commitment you should take lightly. You really need to examine how strong your desire is, and do some independent research into all the careers you are considering, before you make a final decision. Good luck.Should I change my major?
    if you have the finances to afford continuing your education, and your parents support you, then go ahead. you would probably need at least another 2 years undergrad school to do it.
    I think a song from avenque pretty much answers your question
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CK6ksA0Qy
    the only person who can really answer your question is you
    if you planned on becoming a teacher and your strengths are in language then you would stay with it.
    but if you think you will regret that choice then change ultimatly your the only one to make that callShould I change my major?
    Wow in your final year of school. I would finish that first. If you want to be a psychiatrist you'll have to go through med school. Psychiatrists are MDs and your looking at 10 years or more of school. Ask yourself what you really want to do and research what each field does. Psychiatrists do little therapy but medically consult (briefly) to prescribe medications. Psychologists (4-5 years post bachelors) do a lot of testing and assessments. Clinical social workers and counselors (Masters degree 2 years post bachelors) do the therapy. Research each of these fields, see what the educational requirements are and then decide. I would finish school to have a back up or a primary occupation to pay for school. Being in a social science isnt always a prerequisite to one of these grad programs. A lot of it is experience and professional exposure.
    Don't overkill the school thing. If language is your strong suit then a direct clinical social worker or counselor might be the way to go. Consider vocational rehabilitation counseling as well. (Masters).
    The medical field is best considering the economy. You've stated medicine is not one of your strengths. To enter the medical field have you considered becoming a technician able to operate some of their very expensive, very technical analysis equipment? MRI, xray, various other diagnostic machinery, radiology, etc. Good pay and lots of employment.
    I think i want to change my major to business but what can i do with a business degree?
    i want to be a car designer but i really cant do all that crazy *** math to be and engineer, i'm taking intro to business in college and its really easy and somewhat interesting, but i don't know what i can do with a business major, i might be happy selling cars but how much would i make, i really don't want to deal with ****** people, but i would like to sell cars or something
    something that deals with cars i would love (except fixing them and ****)
    my dad was in car dealerships for 20+ years and we know at least 1 person in almost every dealership around where i liveI think i want to change my major to business but what can i do with a business degree?
    Well, if you think a business degree is easy wait until you get to economics and stat. Why don't you look into studying marketing. If you have an interest in automobiles, you could look into a career helping to determine how sales could be improved. You would study consumer trends, psychology - why do people buy and how do they make choices, etc. Could be right up your alley - but, though it's not nuclear engineering, easy it won't be.I think i want to change my major to business but what can i do with a business degree?
    You will get some lessons in running a business and managing one.
    However, the degree does not compare to the lesson in life through work experience. So take it with a grain of salt because life will teach you the rest of the 75% you never learned in school about business. Use your dad as a good source for information about business. He seems to know well to have worked so much in the field. Your business degree will help you set the foot in when you are looking for a job.
    Good luck with your degree!
    Where can I change my search visibility on Facebook?
    Well, since Facebook had the last major change I cannot find the option to deactivate my search visibility. I don`t want to pop up in searches... want my profile invisible. I saw a friend whose profile can only be found going through mutual friends not through standard search.
    So anyone know how to do that? Where is the option now? Thank you guys! :)Where can I change my search visibility on Facebook?
    You can try this: Click on ACCOUNT (found on upper right part of your page) then click Privacy Settings. Under Privacy Settings, click on SEARCH option and you will see 2 things: FACEBOOK SEARCH RESULTS and PUBLIC SEARCH RESULTS. With the first ONE, try to choose ONLY FRIENDS option then on the 2nd, try to uncheck the ALLOW option. You may preview your profile after doing so, there will be an option on that page as PREVIEW MY PROFILE or try to search yourself on google and see if the result will be the way you want it to be. In addition, if you want your profile not to be seen by anyone except your by friends, make sure that your PROFILE INFORMATION (under PRIVACY SETTINGS) is set to ONLY FRIENDS option. I hope this helps. If not, then you could try looking for other helpful answers on the internet.Where can I change my search visibility on Facebook?
    Go to your profile page. You can click on your picture to get there. In the upper right hand corner you till see a little icon padlock next to the word, Share. Click on the padlock and it will give you a drop down box for, everyone, friends, friends of friends. Also, it will tell you to go to your privacy page to change settings individually.     Changing major for school?
    my major is Kinesiology but now i want to switch to biological science how do i do that. and the school has not accepted me yet
    since i haven't mailed my high school transcript yet.Changing major for school?
    I'm going to assume that your original application to the school asked you for a proposed major? In most instances, you are free to change this any time before you enroll by simply dropping a line to the Admission office. Try calling there and asking....say you are a candidate for admission and wanted to make sure your proposed major is accurate in case it affects any decisions relating to whether you're accepted or not. If they can't handle it, they will almost certainly direct you elsewhere if needed as well as telling you what to write.
    How can i change there mind?
    My parents want us to leave the house we lived in for my entire life, i have never like change in fact i despise it, even if its for the better, and right now im going through a lot of major changes, and just when my life was getting easier, we just changed churches, my sisters moving out, im transferring schools, and if we move that will add, another school change, another church change, a house change, and all this stuff i cant take it how can i change there mind so we can stay here.How can i change there mind?
    What is lacking in this question is the reason you are moving. It's probably a big reason like a new job or something. It's not all that bad, actually. You get to leave all of your old drama behind and get to see a new place and meet new people. I was never comfortable with moving either, but I didn't have a choice and I learned to love it. The best way to handle it is to keep in contact with your old friends and make new ones.
    I know it can be really hard to leave everything you know behind, especially after having lived there your whole life, but if you think about it, how depressing would it be if you spend your whole life in one place with all the world out there to explore?How can i change there mind?
    how about change ur mind instead?
    I'm sorry, but you live with mom and dad, so you just have to do it.
    When you get your own place, you can do what you want.
    Other than that, all you can do is tell them how you feel.
    Sorry everything is so tough on you right now.
    Im afraid you cant. You just have to accept their decision and understand they probarbly have good reason.
    One day a time will come where you have to make a decision that will make others, maybe loved ones, unhappy but if you know it will benefit them and be for the best you will do it anyway.
    Understand you parents are probarbly making a very hard decision and factors may come into it that you have no idea about.
    Let them know you support them and just hope for the best. You never know, moving may be the best thing you ever did!
    Contrary to popular belief, Berkeley has gone moderate conservative since the mid '90s. The diverse student body ensures there is a place for everyone. If you want to be left alone, there are lots of places to hide and get away from the crowd. If you are outspoken and political, there are places to do that as well.
    If you are in the College of Letters and Science (and I think you are), changing your major is a breeze. If you want to switch to College Natural Resources, it's even easier (it's less competitive than Letters and Science).Ucla or berkeley!!! bio major?
    SLU
    to be honest, go for Berkley, mainly for the prestige
    Berkeley has the prestige, but so does UCLA. Especially for Biology, any sciences and pre-med. UCLA is a well know school. I think UCLA will be good for you, cause already live in the area, know your way, know everyone. And if you live close to your parents, you will have the luxuary of them helping you if something happens to you. If you go away to Berkely, you wont know anyone and your parents will not be around to help you if you have a problem, such as car breaking down, shortage of money, etc.
    I would suggest UCLA
    Changing major from medicine to finance..?
    Im very confused right now. I am a freshman in a second semester at Michigan State University. My major is medicine right now but i really can't take chemistry anymore and I dont think i'll do good in biology. Another field that is interesting to me is finance. How can I find something that interests me? Is there a lot of scope in finance in the future? What kind of stuff would i learn in finance?Changing major from medicine to finance..?
    Finance is not a good field right now as many companies are dumping these positions left and right.
    PLOT (Structure)
    Despite being a four-act play, The Crucible can be analyzed in terms of the traditional five stages of tragedies. The introduction (also called the exposition) introduces the elements necessary for understanding the action of a play. The exposition of The Crucible takes place in Act I. Here, Miller sets the scene and reveals key information about most of the important characters in the play and the conflicts which are soon to explode. Proctor's guilt over his liaison with Abigail, Abigail's mischief, Putnam's pettiness, and Parris' fear of witches are all central to the events which are soon to unfold.
    Year of Publication and Link With McCarthyism
    ..
    Arthur Miller published The Crucible in 1953, and debuted it that year at the Martin Beck Theater in New York City. He wrote the play in part to renounce the unfair tactics of congressional committees investigating Americans suspected of subversive behavior. The House Un-American Activities Committee, established in 1938, began holding hearings in the late 1940's to identify Americans with communist sympathies, focusing on Hollywood actors, directors, and writers.
    Do you mean ';The Crucible? By Arthur Miller? If so,
    it is a play-a brilliant play-not a novel.
    If you cannot get to a production,I suggest you read the script,watch the movie and think carefully about the question.
    I want to change my major to teaching, how many years of schooling is this?
    what is involved?I want to change my major to teaching, how many years of schooling is this?
    It depends on two requirements. First the state in which you plan to teach and second the subjects you plan to teach. Notice I said ';subjects.'; I highly recommend you be dual certified at least. It will make you marketable when looking for a job.
    Now here is something you should know. Teaching is listed as one of the top 5 most stressful jobs. It is up there with police work. Most new teachers quit after three years. Pay is low, on average a school year is 187 days but expect to take a lot of work home and stay after school for no extra pay. Many teachers will tell you that when you figure in all the extra time the pay is near minimum wage.
    My recommendation: Don't change your major. Wait until after you work in your current major for two years. Then get into an ';alternative teacher certification program.'; It takes about one semester. Then at least you have a career area to ';go back to'; in the event you quit teaching.
  • How late is too late to change majors?
    Right now I'm a Business Advertising and Communications major, but I'm getting to the point where I just don't know if that is what I want to do anymore. I kind of would like to be a teacher, but I'm not sure what kind. I love kids and it is what makes me feel this way. I also would love to be a photographer so I don't know what to do. Opinions please?How late is too late to change majors?
    It is never too late to change your major. The important thing is that you end up doing something you love to do. Obviously the sooner you realize you want to change the better, but it is never too late.
    You could always teach Business Advertising and Communications while being a free lance photographer on the side :-)How late is too late to change majors?
    work on a double major
    I think you can change your major whenever you want to. It's just not recommended because that means more years in college. Like if you're been taking three years for one major, and then switch, you have to take more years of college for your new major.
    But I don't really know. I'm just a kid :p
    Sorry kid nobody can tell you what you should do. Its called growing up!
    I finished my first major before I figured out what I wanted to do and it took me 3 more years of school!
    Anytime past 2 1/2 years in college working on your 6th semester is too late in my eyes to change majors.
    Why don't you start up a picture studio for children , and also offer classes to teach children how to take pictures.
    After 2nd year, I would consider it as late to change your majors.
    I have a friend who triple majored. If you are not major in science, triple majors are possible or double major with a minor.
    Don't major in photography, put that in minor if you want to.
    Is it too late to change my major? how do i tell my parents?
    2 questions
    i am almost done with my sophomore year of college. i was wondering if its too late to change my major from engineering to nursing? i just feel like im wasting time and money.
    the thing is my father kind of forced me into engineering. i cannot imagine myself fixing and working on machines and such and have wanted to change since freshman year, but he had always pressured me right back into it. How do I tell him and take a stand without getting my *** kicked lol, not literally, but you know??Is it too late to change my major? how do i tell my parents?
    tell him this is what you are going to be doing for the rest of your life and you should be able to pick something that will make you happy not him.Is it too late to change my major? how do i tell my parents?
    it's never too late.
    but you will have to spend a few more years in college before you receive your nursing degree.
    remember, it's really hard to get into a nursing program. Very competitive!
    and you're right, you should not waste your time and money on something you won't enjoy doing for the rest of your life.
    it is definitely not too late! explain to your father that you have no interest at all in engineering and prefer nurising. he'll come around the idea...try to be really peruasive when explaining
    I am thinking about changing my major from Accounting to Marketing. Any advice?
    alright.... so I am a senior in college. I have completed all my gen-eds and my core business classes. I made decent grades through all of that and now am getting into my Accounting courses (Intermediate, Cost, Tax, etc..). Problem is I am doing horrible in them. I hate the subject and it doesnt keep my interest. I have taken Marketing classes before and LOVED the topic. I know there is a lot of opportunities in Accounting and money to be made but I was wondering if I should change majors now before I make a lot of bad grades and hate my job for the rest of my life, haha. How many jobs are available in Marketing? Thanks in advance for any advice!I am thinking about changing my major from Accounting to Marketing. Any advice?
    eh, i dont know if that is the best move.
    I didn't enjoy the tax or high level accounting classes i took, but i really enjoy the financial analyst job i have now. Its alot better and easier than school makes it out to be.
    Marketing is sort of hit or miss.... You could get a job making big bucks and have lots of fun, but those jobs are rare to find. For the most part there are too many marketing grads out there, and companies pay them accordingly...
    Personally, since your pretty close to finishing accounting, i would just finish and try out the career. If you dont like it, it would be easy to take night classes and finish a marketing minor. In a worst case scenario.... I think it would be easier to finish accounting and realize that you dont like it and get a marketing degree.... than it would be to switch to marketing, realize there are crappy jobs, and then switch back to accounting.
    Grades are not nearly as important as experience... do whatever you can to get experience using all kinds of programs in accounting.
    How to deal with my father due to my choice of psychology as a major?
    My dad is very difficult to talk to. He talks AT you instead of TO you and he gets very agitated just because I disagree with him. He kept asking me what I am going to do with my major and I have only just finished my first year in college (although I have sophomore status). He also keeps telling me that all his collegues' children who majored in psychology cannot find jobs... Seriously, a lot of people change majors in college and careers in life. Does he really expect me to know what I am going to do with the rest of my life just base on book research? That's why I decided to do an undergrad internship at a psychology center this summer for no money and no credit. My dad got upset. He kept asking me what was the point of volunteering if you're not getting money or credit for it. (Uh, maybe I want to help people and get an idea of my future career based on actual experience?) My mom worries that I'll ';become crazy'; and that I'll ';be in danger.';How to deal with my father due to my choice of psychology as a major?
    GIRL! you are an adult and can make your own decisions - they need to learn to deal with it and stop treating you like you are 12. Just be firm with them about what you want to do and tell them that you need their support not their criticism. If they don't support you - find people who do and be around them.
    I think the internship is the most incredible idea I have ever heard from a young person and you should GO FOR IT! You should be commended for thinking of it and researching it and taking responsibility for the decision you have to make in the next year or so. There are way too many people in this world who just ';picked a major'; to make their family happy but do NOTHING like it for a career. Remember YOU are the one in the long run who has to live with your choices NOT THEM! Be strong, be assertive, keep doing what you're doing!How to deal with my father due to my choice of psychology as a major?
    Very true.
    As you say, you may change your major sometime in the next three years. Your father has a legitimate concern about your job prospects. There are lots of psych degreed people out there waiting tables. Research into the job market should be considered a college course for you. The rest of your father's reaction may be that he feels uncomfortable about the whole topic of psychology. I know my parents considered it somewhat akin to Satanism. They had very little self-insight and were frightened by the idea of someone ';poking around in their heads';. His attitude to your volunteer work probably had something to do with his attitude to psychology as a whole. You will reach a time in your studies when you begin to interact with clients. Only that will tell you if you have the personality to do it. But there are other side careers you can go into that do not involve counseling, like human resources, for instance. Just relax and realize that nothing is written in stone at this point. If you love what you're studying, then go for it.
    you cannot live your life based on what your parents think. I'm not saying to leave them out of your life, just make them understand that it is YOUR life, not theirs. You must have a reason for majoring in psychology like trying to help people. I wanted to major in psychology, now i'm thinking medicine. And if you get a doctarate degree, you can make good money. But that doesn't even matter. It's what you want and what will make you happy. And if he loves you he will understand, and support you no matter how much he disapproves... Good Luck. Use some of what you have learned in psychology classes.
    you're in college.you're growing up.your parents controlled your life up until now.but now,its time for YOU to choose what you want to do-tell your father that it's totally your choice!if he suceeds at making you change your major,then for the rest of your life YOU will be the one stuck with a job you will probably hate for the rest of your life.
    this is your opportunity to show that you WANT this,and that you have enough personal strength to go through with it,despite your loved ones demanding otherwise.
    i hope you'll be able to convince him its for you!
    good luck!=]
    Your father might be the same type as mine.
    They always expect us to be or do what they want to do.
    But the point is the life is yours and you are the one will study what you choose to do.
    I believe that learning what you love to do will be more successful then being forced to study what you don't want to learn or don't want to be.
    You are the one who will be with the career that you choose to study %26amp; learn to be the whole life.
    For example: from my case, I wanted to be an architect but my father wanted me to be a doctor or engineer, it didn't work because I couldn't be or my ability wouldn't reach that point, my math wasn't that great and etc.
    But I can be a nurse, because it's a good job and I like to help people. So I studied to be a nurse and work happily.
    Just talk to them nicely about what you want to be
    and your dream career. Perhaps you%26amp;your parent can meet at the half way... +_+
    Best wishes %26amp; good luck.
    Tell them that you plan to continue after you get your bachelor's in psych and go for a master's but don't know yet what to specialize in because you have yet to take all the core curriculum and don't know all that is out there and you want to make an informed decision.
    UC application major change?
    i want to change my majors for my UC applications.
    is there a way i can do it online or mailing my request?
    Also, i have to submit my social security number because apparently they do not have it.
    How should i go about doing that because their instructions are confusing.
    thxUC application major change?
    You need to contact each individual campus regarding your change in major, although it really doesn't matter.
    The UC's do not admit/reject based upon major (as said on it's website).
    So basically, when you register, you can simply change it then if you are going to a UC.
    good luckUC application major change?
    The University of California applications were due a while ago...I believe the online instructions say to mail them something regarding your changes. Check the website again...
    All the schools i applied to were as a physics major. i been reading and now im beginning to think I won't be able to go into research and development and stuff like that with pure physics. I like theory but I really don't want to be theoretical physicist. I want to be in a field that creates things that can be used by people. I want to apply physics concepts to help people and build devices not just study effects and theory. What can I do now I already applied for January and am waiting? How do colleges look at this stuff?I applied to some schools for a physics major...but now I'm thinking I should go into more applied physics?
    Many people change their major in college, and the college doesn't care since that person will be paying tuition and staying at their school longer. When you decide which school you are going to, get in contact with them (after you are accepted of course) and let them know so they change it for you so you don't waste a semester doing some classes that you may not need, even though first two years are usually more general classes.I applied to some schools for a physics major...but now I'm thinking I should go into more applied physics?
    Most colleges let students change majors during their first two years.
    However, if the university to which you have applied has a separate college of engineering and you want to major in engineering, you should phone their admissions office and ask how to handle the situation. Good luck.
    ';DO you think I would be able to change majors to applied physics or maybe and enginneering concentration or minor or something or am I stuck in physics?';
    Of course you'll be able to change your major. It is rare for a student to actually graduate with the major they applied with. Just talk to your advisor.
    As for whether you should change your major, it really depends on the physics program at your school, and how you want to ';apply physics';. All engineering fields are a form of applied physics. What do you want to ';research and develop';? Most undergraduate physics programs offer a good range of experimental and theoretical physics, tending towards the basics--classical mechanics, quantum mechanics, statistical mechanics, electricity and magnetism, atomic/nuclear physics, optics, etc. It typically doesn't get *too* theoretical unless you want it to (even then, not much until graduate school), and in general, offer a good foundation for a future in R%26amp;D.
