If you genuinely dislike programming, then you should change the major. If you have been enjoying your courses, and your regret is based on news articles about the current job market, then your fears are misplaced. [Business cycles will come and go. They are part of life.] Computer Science majors will be in demand. Check out the link below. Read through all aspects of CS and also other engineering majors as well. Career prospects are good for all engineering and Computer Science majors.

Your degree is only the first step. It is not a ticket that automatically guarantees high salary, regardless of your major. You have to continue to learn on the job, developing expertise specializing in specific areas and gain other skills such as leadership skills project management skills, etc. As long as you are doing that, your salary level will keep increasing and you will soon be in the major leagues. It is hard to do this in a field you don't enjoy. That's why it is important to choose a field that you really enjoy. Good Luck. How much does computer science a year?
