Know of any plants or animals that have adapted to major changes in the environment or new environments?

I need to write a paper on any species that has adapted to its environment whether genic or physiological. Example: cicada cycle, how the plants and animals adapt to the millions of cicadas sent to flight over a period of only a few months.Know of any plants or animals that have adapted to major changes in the environment or new environments?
Check out this: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/con

It's about killifish's adaptation to PCB's in New Bedford Harbor locate in Mass.

If you need help locating more info email me. I like doing research, it's fun ;)

cockroaches..they've been here since the time of the dinosaurs. they're also really hard to kill.
a panda....it has adapted to actually grasp bamboo shoots by growing aposable thumbs. over the years of course and another one would be humans of course
No Not Really.
There are many examples.

1)Duck:it was initially a land bird without wings, but as the water in land began to diminish,it started entering water bodies...gradually its feet became webbed.it's webbed feet are it's ecological adaptation.

2)SNAKE:It initially was a limbed animal with fore and hond limbs.but it lived in grassy-shrubby areas and had to crawl on the ground to locomote from place to place. This resulted in its ultimate loss of limbs.the evidence that it HAD limbs is the presence of reduced pelvic bone and presence or reduced hind limbs.

There are many more which i cant write here...u can refer any evolution book and write.
whales and snakes.. still have waiste/hip girdles.

and bees and cock roaches have lived through everything. Roaches become immune to many bug sprays.
