How do i change my major? and do i need to repeat a class?

ok wen i look at my profile of my account in my college website...its says my program of study is computer science..nd i had remembered tat tats wat i put wen i first applied and now i just finished my 1st sememster...where do i go to inform them tat im not going for tat anymore.

and also i made an F on my US history class ..but it still says i got 3.00 credit...do i need to retake it?How do i change my major? and do i need to repeat a class?
Speak to your counselor about both problems./

I'm changing majors... should I even try to finish my online pass/fail class?

This is taken from how the Univ calculates GPA:

All grades received during a student's enrollment (except the grades of W, P, Z, and F in a Pass/Fail course) are included in the cumulative GPA. Grades from other colleges are excluded.

It states that in F does not effect GPA. So the class I am in will not transfer over to my other major, so there is no harm in failing this class right?I'm changing majors... should I even try to finish my online pass/fail class?
It depends....do you plan on applying to grad school, or is there even a remote possibility grad school is in the future? If so, having a F on your record would not be a good idea....especially for a pass/fail class, since it means you couldn't even manage a passing grade (and some grad schools have their own method of recalculating GPAs to include W/P/F).

It's worth thinking about....I had a major career path switch in college (I decided to apply to med school), and all of a sudden grades mattered 10x more than they had for my original goals....and I thank the lucky stars I hadn't accidentally sabotaged myself back when grades ';didn't matter';.I'm changing majors... should I even try to finish my online pass/fail class?
From what info you have given, your F will not affect your GPA. But its better to try to pass that class anyways just so you dont waist your money or time.

How to change from major prep to skater chick?

im 15 and im going to a new school next year and im so sick and tired of always having to look perfect and skateboarding is soo fun can you give me tips on how to dressHow to change from major prep to skater chick?
instead of trying to dress skater, i have one tip for you. just try dressing YOU. it will be the best decision u make in high school. don't dress to a label such as prep or skater. one day if you feel like wearing jeans, converse, and a tshirt go for it. the next day if you wanna wear a sundress with flats go for that too. that's how i dress, and people love my style, trust me a little variety never hurt.

good luck =]]How to change from major prep to skater chick?
How about just being yourself?
Look at Lilly Truscott's dress sense from hannah montana..... She's a sk8er chik with awesome clothing!
hey

here is some links to wikihow which has whole pages on how to become skaterish. The trick is to also do this gradually. If you go from prep to one day to skater girl the next youll be called a poseur.

Picking out ahead of time what you want to be is a horrible idea. In some places you have no freedom to be who you want to, so take advantage of that. Be yourself

Should I change my major to become some kind of a teacher?

I am in an Algebra class right now and am the only one that knows what's going on. I am also the only male in class with about 10 ladies. Since the professor doesn't know how to explain things, they bunch up on me and ask for help. I have no problem helping out a bunch of women in need, you know what I'm saying? I am good at explaining things to individuals and now see that teaching women is my calling. Even though 2 or 3 of them were probably just flirting with me, I beleive that my message got through to the other 7 that were interested in learning. Should I invite myself to these women's houses to give them a ';pop quiz'; to see how much they've learned?Should I change my major to become some kind of a teacher?
LOL u r funny.... education for the ladies.. yea why not, if they like it, go for it!Should I change my major to become some kind of a teacher?
yep, you should be a private tutor.
im sure they would enjoy it
yes it is your civic duty
LMAO! Yeah, you're all about the ';pop quiz'; aren't you dude?
It's A LOT more than ';explaining things.'; Being a teacher means being a mother, father, brother and sister to hundreds of kids each with different personalities!

Everyday is different and teaching is so much more than being able to explain that days lesson. It's an underpaid job and if you are a good teacher you will never work the 7-3 work day....I am here until about 5 everyday and thats when I am not busy! Believe me, without the summer, teachers would burn out in about 2 years....
Yes you should but ummmmm i'm having a bit of trouble with my algebra stuff and i think i could use some private tutoring as well.....

  • I want to change my major to something more versatile perhaps marketing any advice?

I just recently graduated with my associate's degree in human services and while I like people I just don't have an interest in becoming a social worker or crisis counselor etc. I would like for my bachelor's degree to be in a field that is challenging yet very versatile. however, I am somewhat hesistant about majoring in business because I don't have a strong interest in numbers, complex math, and talking in front of large groups of people. I am someone who is capable of working in a team but prefers to work alone and I like work that is more behind the scenes. As far as doing work that involves research I prefer to do things such as designing a survey. Therefore, I was thinking of becoming a market research analyst but am worried about how I would do in courses such as accounting, finance, and sales. I took an accounting course in highschool and I did extremely well at level one but I struggled with level two and drop the class after a week. in spite of my fear should I try again?I want to change my major to something more versatile perhaps marketing any advice?
My major was in Advertising which contained almost identical coursework to Marketing. I think you are making out a business degree and working in business to be more difficult than it is. Public speaking is the number one fear everyone has so join the club. If you take business courses it is possible you will face an accounting course or two but that is it.

I would find a general field like Marketing or Education and go get that 4 year degree. A degree tells a future employer two important things: #1 That you are teachable and #2 that you can complete what you start. Many employers don't care what your degree is in but that you have one. They figure they will retrain you anyway.

Most people change majors several times in college and change careers several more times after they are out in the workforce. So just relax and don't worry that you need to make a lifetime decision right now.

I never ever had a job in Advertising but the fact I had that degree was very valuable.I want to change my major to something more versatile perhaps marketing any advice?
Marketing is not a great field its all sales jobs the pay is not very well either. A bachelors in marketing will get you a starting salary of $30,000, its not worth it. Get a degree in management or something related to the health industry (booming field).

P.S Anything you do thats business related marketing, management, accounting ect... will require alot of math which means (calculas and statistics) very tough courses.
Yeah, sounds like you should go for a Marketing Analyst or Sales Analyst type of job in a large corporate firm like Sony, Target, Apple, Microsoft, Disney, etc. These large corporations are fun to work in the sales %26amp; marketing departments becuase you can actually help the sales teams track products you know and use like Sony TVs, DVDs, Disney ticket sales and Household goods.

By taking a business degree you would cover your basis for any corprotion in the market place. Finance numbers come into play to help track Gross Sales and Profit Margins for the products in a given company.

    Need help, possibly changing majors?

I'm a fashion design major and I'm planning on transferring to the Fashion Institute of Technology. I don't know if this is a good idea considering how bad the economy is right now. I guess my real question is, will the job market still be this bad 3 years from now? Should I should pursue a more stable career temporarily and then return to design later on? Or should I just go for it?Need help, possibly changing majors?
I had the same problem deciding which degree I should keep (the one I liked or the one that will give me a nice paycheck) I talked to a couple of advisers and they recommended me to double major or get a minor. I think what you should do is to have a back up plan just in case the economy does not increase as we are all expecting. Sometimes it is not always convenient to follow your heart but your mind.

How hard is a biology major?

I am currently changing my major from Computer Science. I am having trouble deciding what to choose and started thinking about Biology. I had trouble with Calculus in my second semester and was wondering if Biology is hard and does it require Calculus or higher? I am currently a Freshman so I honestly have no idea what I should choose. How hard is a biology major?
It requires a lot of science classes, like a year and a half worth, plus elem stats and either pre-calc or trig.

    Should I change my major?

I am majoring in accounting right now. I am a freshman. I am seriously thinking of changing over to pre pharmacy. It is on my mind and I at least want to give it a try. I am a little scared because I am afraid of how I may do but I want to try it. I work part time at a pharmacy and I have been there for a year and a half and is seriously considering it. What do you think I should do?Should I change my major?
Go with a career in what you get your best grades in for that will always come easiest! Try majoring in one and minoring in the other therefore you have both bases covered.Should I change my major?
    yes change it...
Follow your heart and change your major. You've been working there long enough to know you like Pharmacy, and being your freshman year you won't have to think twice about it.

I did REALLY bad this semester. Will my financial aid be taken away or will i just be on probation?

I don't even wanna tell you how bad i did... regardless I have an overall GPA of 1.5 now.. I changed majors from computer science to information systems, so next semester I should do MUCH better.

Anyway, will I still have my federal grants and reduced interest loans? As long as I bring up my grades?I did REALLY bad this semester. Will my financial aid be taken away or will i just be on probation?
It depends. Were you on probation this semester? If not, then you will be on probation for a semester and as long as you get your gpa up, you'll be okay.I did REALLY bad this semester. Will my financial aid be taken away or will i just be on probation?
The company who gave you the money does not care how your grades are just if you were dismissed during the half way mark but if you drop out during the semester you have to pay the refund you did get and the school will charge you for dropping out, so keep the grades up talk to your counselor and things should work out.
It depends. Some money (from scholarships) have some rules that say you have to keep a GPA of a certain amount or higher, but I don't think aid you received from FAFSA have those sort of promises.

How do I tell my parents I'm changing my major?

I'm currently in a Culinary Arts but I'm going to switch to Hospitality. The problem is that I don't know how to tell my parents. I'm afraid to bring it up because hey have this plan for me to be a chef and they're going to be super pissed when I tell them I don't want to do culinary. They're the type that are ';My way or the highway'; and I know this will cause a lot of fights and drama. Any suggestions on how I go telling them? How do I tell my parents I'm changing my major?
It's not their lives, so they shouldn't expect to control what you want to be. If you want to switch to another major just tell them. ';Mom, dad, Im not so hapy with culinary and I was thinking of doing something a with a little more impact. I want to help people, not cook for them';.How do I tell my parents I'm changing my major?
The majority of students change their major. It's a part of growth. I'm more concerned about another issue. I looked up the ';hospitality'; major, and it appears that it is geared toward management of restaurants and hotels. While this is certainly a valid career choice, I question whether you might be better off going in another direction in your preparation.

A general management degree from a college, even a two-year one, would give you a lot more options. If you decide after training that you'd like to try something different, a more general degree would make it easier to make the change. And, your parents might feel better about paying for a management degree which would make you eligible for a lot more jobs. Just a thought.

In the meantime, I'm sure your parents will be more understanding than you think. Just lay out a clear plan, and they'll be fine. Good luck to you.
My advice? Your in college and you have a major. It's your life now, not theres, they can't keep you home, they can't walk into your own home without breaking and entering so how are they hurting you this much because you started something, it wasn't what you thoght it would be, you found interest in something else, and you'll pursue that.

I would just not tell them. Don't say yeah, Culinary Arts is great. If they ask how school is, tell them that it's the same. if they ask how your cooking is going, tell them its going fine (with the thoughts of last nights dinner in your mind) don't avoid it, just don't bring it up. Unless they ask a direct question. then tell them that it doesn't interest you like you thoght it woudl and drop the subject. Just like it's not my dads business that I broke my bike. I need the exersize i get from walking anyways.
The first thing you should do is pray and then prepare reasons on why you're going to change your major. When you speak to them be sure to be calm and tell them that you'll excel in this choice because that's what you want, right? A person excels in what he/she likes and because of that in pertaining goals, they will be succesful
You could still minor in Culinary Arts but all you are doing

is switching majors. Just tell them that. Say you have done research into the Hospitality industry and found it interesting

so you have decided to switch.
    ';Hey mom and dad. Oh is that a new hair dew, it looks amazing, so anyways im going to be a doctor okay, Love you! Bye';

    haha yeah i dont know.
Say; Mom, Dad i am changing my major! :)
My son has done it twice. Just glad he is sticking it out college education is important, parents should understand
    Just tell them.
First of all, ask yourself. Things like '; Why am I changing my course/career/major?';, ';Is it really necessary?';, ';DO I HAVE A CHOICE?';. These self scanning must be done thoroughly and withouc plasticity. You must decide well, because your future life is at stake. Now if you suddenly decided and thought '; Hey, Culinary isnt bad enough.'; give yourself a pat in the back because FINALLY you chose the right thing...(stop reading from this point if you chose the RIGHT thing). But if you are really some kind of adventurous, spoiled, shitty headed person, and still stick the Chef-Turned-Host/Hostess idea, I will spend some of my little time giving you some sermon:

    1. Cook (after all, you're studying how to cook until you suddenly thought that its moar exciting to be hospitable) your specialty dish as a decoy for your parents. This will stabilize the mood of your parents, at least temporarily.

    2. Talk about some happy things and have a good conversation. This is a good plan to manipulate them towards your actual point.

    3. When you finish the food, the climax will begin. Talk about something that has relationship to your point. Ex: ';I have a friend who stupidly decided to change his major...'; Something like that.

    4. Tell them your point. Tell them whatever reason you have. For some special effects, cry (cry only if you are a girl. Dont try it if you are otherwise. Instead, look them sharply in there eyes as you narrate them your reasons and the shitakes.)

    5. Prepare for the worse. If you are stabbed in the lungs by your mother or trampled to comatose state by your father, still be happy. At least you tried, and most of all you had show them you can stand at your own point and be strong (stop reading to this point if you failed). But if the hell suddenly freezes over and your parents, for some unknown and uncomprehendable reasons, told you ';OK, we let you.';, pat yourself in the back...

    6. Good luck!
I went through the same problem. Lucky for you, culinary and hospitality are quite similar. What are your reasons for switching majors? Make sure you are ready with rebuttals when you talk to them. Don't argue with them, but tell them you are SURE you want to switch majors. Make sure you are prepared with a list of reasons why. You could say that hospitality is a wider field and has many more options, including the culinary arts. I noticed the best thing to do when talking to your parents about college and the future, is seem overly confident. If you seem like you're unsure, they'll attack you with ';my way or the highway'; kind of stuff. Sit them down, or just casually mention it. Maybe talk to an adviser at school... see what they have to say and if they agree that you should switch majors, tell your parents that even your adviser recommended it. Tell them you've been doing alot of thinking and researching and realized you want to switch majors. Make sure you know what you're going to say before you talk to them. This may even sound lame, but come up with a list of questions you think they might ask.. or a bunch of things they might say, and come up with things to say back. This way, you'll be prepared for the argument if one ensues! good luck and remember.. it's YOUR future.. fight for what you want!

I have alot going on in my life now, ALOT of major changes.....How can i make this ';panic'; feelings go away?

i get times where i feel really panicky....( if that's how you spell it) i feel trapped and like i have no control over these situations. I'm really scaring myself with some of the thoughts running through my head because of all of these changes and i need some methods to get through these changes. thanks in advance!I have alot going on in my life now, ALOT of major changes.....How can i make this ';panic'; feelings go away?
I was wondering how old you were...?

panic attacks usually stem from some kind of insecurity issues with that person...lots of people have these types of attacks seeing as we live in a very stressfull world...just remember your not alone and nobody is perfect...everyone has insecurities however dont let them eat at you...learn to live within your own skin and face your fears head on as soon as possible and remember nobody really cares what or who you are as much as you do so just say to yourself who cares...there isnt anything to panic about.

life can be stressfull so remember to take deep breaths if you do seem to panic...depending where you are close eyes and take deep breathes to calm down.I have alot going on in my life now, ALOT of major changes.....How can i make this ';panic'; feelings go away?
    anti-anxiety pills will help
seeing a doctor and explaining your fears will be the first thing you should do and do not put it off any longer they have medication that will help you there is no need to suffer this way... God bless you
i've been threw alot. divorce, war, parents passing away, and being a single parent with noone there. this was all by the age of 35. i think if you eat vegetable, fruit, and healthy foods it will help. have good bathing habits, dont wear alot of makeup and pretty much go chemical free even with your hair. get into religion. beleive in God. pray to God. it will help and help lead you into a cleaner lifestyle. once you are cool with who you are then the world looks at you in a nicer way. and you always have control over things. when i am in fear i like to stress out in a nice hot bath and have a little cry. that is always a good time and place to reconnect with yourself and God.
You could try st Johns Wort. It may help, but check out the interactions and don't take it if you're on ';the pill';.

Oh, and yoga could help too.
Eating a proper diet, and getting enough sleep definitely helps. so does focusing on one task at a time, and not looking at the whole picture. i don't know what's going on in your life, but we are in the middle of a move for my daughter. We spend 1 hour on each task we have to do every day, and things just seem to be going along nicely. Also, we've put off dealing with the legal matters of separation and child custody until after the move is finished. One thing at a time! Today we packed her kitchen, and painted the bathroom, and moved her big furniture to my house. Then she had to go to work, and her ex came to pick up the kids. I spent an hour rearranging my living room to hold her bed and dresser. In an hour, after I have a small meal, I'm going to throw in another load of laundry, and work on a quilt I'm making for her son.
Just STOP. Sit down, relax and think. Make two lists -- things you can address and things you can't address. Look at the list that you can address. Look at number 1. Is it really that hard to deal with that? So deal with it. Forget about everything else and do number 1. When that's done, go to number 2.

Then get the list of things you can't address. Take that and put it in the trash or give it someone else.

The method is to simply to do something, but not everything at once. Keep in mind that you are probably making everything on the list way too important. Take some time for yourself and enjoy life. It's the only one you have.

Can I major in Psychology to become a Doctor?

I find Psychology very interesting! And I heard it's alot easier than majoring in Biology. I know I have to take the Pre-requisites to get into Medical school. Will majoring in Psychology be easier than Biology? because I heard it's a smooth program. And how will changing my major in Biology to Psychology affect how well I do in the MCAT? thanks! Can I major in Psychology to become a Doctor?
Any major is fine as long as you take the premed classes. The premed classes are the ones you need for the MCAT, so not doing a bio major shouldn't hurt you there. Can I major in Psychology to become a Doctor?
You can major in anything, so long as you complete your ';pre med'; checklist. I have one friend who has her degree in Psychology, who's currently working in Ohio, and another who's degree is in Communications who's an Emergecy Room Doc.
All majors are eligible for medical school, as long as you complete the pre-med courses and do well on the MCAT.

FYI, Psychology + Medical school + Psych residency = Psychiatrist
YES you're exactly right....Psychology will give you the advantage of gettin into MEd School I LITTLE BIT easier because you have an uncommon major comparable to the 81% of applicants whom have Biology/Chemistry degrees, 12% Nursing, and the remaining % is in the Liberal arts i.e. Psych, Enlgish, Sociology, ETC.

The MCAT is comprised of Physical Science (Math, General Chemistry, a little Organic Chem, Physics), Biologicl Sciences, Verbal Reasoning (like the SAT or ACT), and then Writing (Essay)....

AS far as MEdical School pre-reqs...they all require mainly the same ones: Introductory Biology (Intro Cell/Molecular and Intro Ecological), Physics, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Math (Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Statistics) and lastly your general education requirements but you should take these anyways with any major (English, Social Sciences, Speech etc.)

Who has switched their major during their senior year of college? How did it affect you?

It's my first semester of my senior year, and I did a minimal major switch. I went from Entrepreneurship to Human Resource Management. The course work is closely related, and I will still graduate on time. I have no idea if I'll like HR or not. I just hated my previous major and HR was the easiest to switch to. (I do have an interest in HR) I just wanted to see if anyone else has changed their major during Senior year, and how it has affected you.Who has switched their major during their senior year of college? If you weren't happy with your previous major then it was a good idea to switch. You don't want to be stuck in something that you don't want to do. It's always better to find out now that you don't like your major. It helps when you have an interest in something when you start working. It will make your career more interesting and you will want to learn more about it. If you are happy it definitely helps. I didn't change my major but I wish I would have when I had the chance.Who has switched their major during their senior year of college? How did it affect you?
If you hated your previous major than this a good change. Since you'll graduate when you expected, I don't see any problems.

I didn't change majors but I added a second major. It also didn't take me any longer but I had to have a busy senior year. It just so happened that I was close to having the second major so I decided to go for it. It didn't really affect me at all. I have bee out of university for 6 years now and it honestly hasn't made a difference in my life.

    How to deal with miscarriage?

so i am 19, and was pregnant, had a miscarriage....

and let me tell u i am an elementary education major, and its scary ....i almost wanted to change majors because of this, this is my 2nd miscarriage i have had. and no i am not trying to get pregnant... i am young and realize this....

but its very depressing... i have heard that if u keep having miscarriages that you are less likely to be able to have a kid in the future...is that true ? has anyone experienced difficulty in gettting preg? How to deal with miscarriage?
I had a miscarraige and got pregnant two months afterwards. I'm now 37 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby boy. Don't worry it will happen when the time is right. Also you need to trust your body. Many times your body will abort a baby that has serious defects, this often happens before 12 weeks gestation. Lots of woman have miscarriages before they even realize they are pregnant and they mistake it for a heavy period. Trust me it will be alright I know its SO dissapointing, but God will make it right. How to deal with miscarriage?
Please do not worry. Your young, lifes stressful and ur body is feeling loads of emotions and ur hormones are everywhere. Things happen for a reason...think posotive, try relaxing and when u are ready for a baby u will have one...believe me. good luck XXX
yes but i dont think so its so unlikely my friend had about i think 6 miscarriages and she carried one baby through and had a heathly baby girl
I had a miscarriage in between my two kids. It was awful, and my own mother didn't offer much support. Thankfully my husband did. I still deal with it to this day, but it does get easier. So sorry! I got pregnant very easily almost 1 year to the date after I lost that baby. Get a good support system of friends and family. I find not talking about it alot helps me to not think about it all the time.
Miscarriage is usually a chance event, not a sign of an ongoing reproductive problem. If you have had one miscarriage, your chances for future successful pregnancies are good. Less than 1% of women have three or more miscarriages in a row (called recurrent miscarriages).

If you have had three or more miscarriages, talk to your health professional about testing and treatment for a possible underlying cause.

Question About Getting An Art Degree?

I am currently an education major and I am already considering changing majors. I am interested in the possibility of getting an art degree. How good are the job prosepects with an art degree? How do you know if you are talented enough to get an art degree? I am struggling with these decisions a great deal so any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much in advance!Question About Getting An Art Degree?
I'm studying in a fine art degree and to be honest I didn't care about the job prospects at the end, purely because art is my passion. Someone with any type of degree will be considered over job than someone without.

The talent you need in art really is fresh and different ideas (these are usually stimulated by experiences or help from peers %26amp; tutors).

Drawing and painting can be taught and there are techniques for getting proportions right. You learn the basic techniques in life drawing classes, so if you were worried that you were not good enough, look up on the internet or the phone book for life drawing classes near you.

The college art course I did included fashion, graphic design, photography, ceramics, art history, life drawing and so, so much more.

(art history is very good in helping these 'fresh and different ideas').

Graphic design is considered a good industry to get into for jobs, because EVERYTHING has a design to it, from cars and adverts to packaging and urinals! But I personally found it quite boring at times.

Art is very open and you can express anything you want to, projects we are given are normally very loose and open to interpretation. you are never wrong, but you have to make sure that you have a reasonable sized amount of work to back your ideas up. I would recommend anyone to an art course, but they have to be passionate about it, especially to get a good job.

A lot of art students become teachers.I know people who sell their work on the internet (ebay etc) and sometimes universities and colleges hold exhibitions for students work and sometimes work is sold. My lecturers put their work up in exhibitions all over the UK. There is nothing stopping a fine artist working as a photographer, or designer, but people who have studied those subjects individually may have a better suited portfolio to the job.

It's all down to you :)

Good luck!Question About Getting An Art Degree?
No problem! :) im glad i could help.

If you talk to the tutors on the course you're thinking of joining, I'm sure they will answer your questions and tell you about future jobs. Keep in mind they might be a bit biast ;)

  • I am thinking of changing my major to Photography/Wildlife photography. Do i not have enough experince?

I am a sophmore in college without a major. I havent taken any photography classes and dont even own a camera. I think i may try to take a class to see how i like it. If i choose photography to be my major, do you think i am to old to catch up to everyone else?I am thinking of changing my major to Photography/Wildlife photography. Do i not have enough experince?
George Lepp is one of the most well known wildlife photographers who also teaches the subject.

I say this because when I was at the University, I was always complaining that I wasn't learning anything about my major (TV and Film). My adviser asked me a simple question. Are you here to learn or get your degree? I said both and she told me that I would end up being disappointed and probably get neither.

She told me that I could always learn at seminars, workshops and ';trade' schools. College was academic and training you in a skill was not their job.

Take all the photo courses you can whether art or photojournalism or what ever other courses they have where you can learn how to use your eye and camera in harmony. All the professional skills will most likely come from a different source like ASMP or other professional organization.

So that said, here is a link to George.I am thinking of changing my major to Photography/Wildlife photography. Do i not have enough experince?
i would say to take the class and see how you do in it. if you dont fal behind everyone else in the class then you should be fine.

photography is about creativity as well as technique. as long as you have the mind to do it, then you should be ok.

you might want to try to play catch up at the beginning, just to learn how to develop them and maybe mess around with different digital techniques just to get you ready.
It isn't really a matter of being too old. You need to know that the field is VERY tough to get into (professionally) and make an actual living in after you graduate. Very few people end up working for National Geographic (or even seeing their work in its pages). You might want to minor in this (or just use it as a lifelong hobby). It's not impossible, but really tough to make this your career and not starve in the process!

If i graduated from a America, can i still study in Egypt?

say i got a college degree from an American university here in the states, however, i decided to go back to Egypt for changing major to become a dentist (it's cheaper in Egypt). can i apply into a dentist school in cairo? will they care about my grades in High school? or how it will work?If i graduated from a America, can i still study in Egypt?
to. be accepted in the dentist school , you would have to show proof that you got more than 95 % .

colleges in Egypt demand very high grades .

you pay very small fees in the main universties , but your grades have to be high .

    there are private universities .

they also demand high grades , but less than the main universities .

the fees are very high , perhaps 25 thousand LE.

good luck.If i graduated from a America, can i still study in Egypt?
they wouldnt care about high school grades but college grades yes
hmm i think it wouldnt matter really

How difficult is college life? will i survive?

I am about to transfer from a Jr. College to a 4 year university. I just recieved my acceptance letter from TCU on an English major. But i am looking at UTA and TSU b/c the major i want to do (business, i changed majors after acceptance) requires a 3.25 just to be ';considered';. I really want to do buisness at TCU should I hold out or just go to UTA or TSU where i no i'll be able to. Also, if i am accepted to TCU on Business i dont think i can compete with those 4.0 when currently (not final GPA) all i have is a 3.06. Help plz. i am afraid of failure and in all honesty afraid to take a chance. I also unsure if i can survive in the college life. Ty.How difficult is college life? will i survive?
College is the best years to experience. You learn so much by doing rather than listening. You learn more knowledge and receive first-hand experience on real-life interships. College life will be enjoyable as long as you know how to balance studying and living. You will survive if you give yourself time for studies and friends. Never be afraid of failure because it will lower your self-confidence. College is not just about GPAs and studies. People will be missing out on a big bulk of college by locking yourself in your dorm room. YOU WILL SURVIVE. Enjoy life in college because it will the best. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!How difficult is college life? will i survive?
Yes you will survive. Just remember to breath in, breath out, and smile. It has always been my experience that whenever I have taken on something bigger than I thought I could handle, I have succeeded. Your potential probably far exceeds the limitations you place on yourself. Just take one step after another, and don't worry too much about all that stuff. I am 7 years out of my university years and looking back I realize there was never any need to feel anxious about anything I felt stressed about. Enjoy your college years while you are in them. Focus on graduating and spending your post college years further developing your interests and integrating into the work world.
TCU is an outstanding business program. Great entrepreneurship program there. You will be fine, don't sweat your GPA. In college, if you just go to class no matter what (even when you are sick), you will be fine. That is the best advice anyone ever gave me, and I promise you it will make your life so much easier. GO TO CLASS! College is easy if you go to class, do the work, and approach it with the attitude that you are there to learn.
I too was a transfer student from a Jr. college to a university and it was a big change. Yes, you will survive! It may overwelm you in the begining but you will get used to it.

I need acts of violence that created major social change.?

We are doing a project of the 20th century and for every twenty year span, we are to write a paper about a topic. I chose violence.

Does anyone know acts of violence and how they changed the social climate in the United States?I need acts of violence that created major social change.?
mafia/mob (creating a slew of social laws)

race related crime (we implimented hate crime laws)

entitlement crimes in economic downturns (this seems constant, and the same situation occurs each ';crisis'; most recently seen during the race riots in CA, and during Katrina

kidnappings took a spike in the eighties, changing the way we alert people, to help find the victims, this also changed social behaviors the most (in my opinion) because when this crime again took a downturn (it is rare for a stranger to kidnap a child now) parents still sequestered their children (and still do)

    and ritual abuse took a spike between the seventies and the nineties (cults, etc) {I am not sure if this caused a social change, as it appears that we went back to the Constitution on this one {militia outside the US government}

other crimes like murder seem to grow with the population, but stay comparatively the same

gang violence has been spiking since the eighties (not mafia, children, and adult gangs) (social changes in laws, and actual human behavior, from creating new laws and working on prevention, but also human social behavior has been affected, from acceptance and extreme fear, to moving out of affected areas)

women have been murdering for a long time on massive levels, but the defined examples are just now hitting the forefront of the media (research munchausen, munchausen by proxy) but so far this has not really changed social behavior that I have seen, as women are still seen as victims, rather than criminals...

    for example:

Mary Ann Cotton was not considered a serial killer, but she murdered between 15 and 21 family members with poison

Beverly Allitt murdered four children, and tried to kill 9 more before she was caught, she was also not called a serial killer, and was defined under munchausen by proxyI need acts of violence that created major social change.?
Hate crimes ....um.....k.k.k. attacks.... um..... James Byrd ...(in 1990's he was a black man and his death was really tragic) even president clinton contacted the family ..and it changed a town and the nation a bit .. ....and... Columbine High school.... in 99.. the shooting
you could talk about spectacle lynchings (white men hanging black men) that happend in the early 1920s.

White men would hang black men in the center of town and entire city blocks would come out to see the hanging. It caused hundreds of race riots and lead to sundown-towns (google James Lowen and Sundown towns) and later segregation across the USA.

How do you know you are choosing the right major?

I have changed my major about 5 times already and nothing ever feels ';right.'; I also have anxiety so that doesn't help the situation at all. So how do you know you are choosing the right thing you want to do for the rest of your life? How do you know you are choosing the right major?
You wouldn't have to ask this question if you truly knew that you chose the right major.

How do i tell my parents I want to change my major?

In the Fall I'm starting my freshman year at college as a civil engineer major. I've been telling my dad that that's what I want to do since my freshman year in high school. Lately I've been hacong awcond thoughts about this and wantong to major in major in business (economics or finance). I feel bad to tell my dad because he's glade that I wanted to do civil engineering. How can I break the news? I was thinking about taking the engonering classes for a semester and then tell him I can't handle the sciences or something lame like that. If rather not lie and tell him but I don't know how.

I know this sounds rally silly. But please helpHow do i tell my parents I want to change my major?
Don't lie. Sit your parents down and tell them exactly what you've just said, that you're not so interested in civil engineering and would prefer to major in business. It's your education, whether you're paying for it or your parents are, so the question becomes: do you want to spend 4 years studying something that's going to make you happy or something that will make your dad happy but you miserable?

I am a Business Management major and am about to enter my senior year. Changing my major to Education at this point would mean I wouldn't graduate for almost another 3 years.

What are my options for becoming a teacher at this point? How do I pursue certification? Can I just take a certification course? Or do I need to go to grad school? How can I become a middle school or elementary school teacher if I did not major in education?
A middle school teacher generally does not major in Education, but rather in the subject they plan to teach. But you do need Ed courses and student teaching.

Visit the Education Dept. and get your questions answered there. How can I become a middle school or elementary school teacher if I did not major in education?
get your degree and then 2 years of graduate school and you will be a certified teacher! good luck and always continue to learn new things.

How come when I change my major from pre med to art history people don't think I'm Jewish anymore?

I'm not joking. I was studying biology, chem, pre med but became so bored w/ it I switched to art. But the thing is, when I was in chem lab or whatever, the profs would often tell me that I could leave class early (I suppose for some Jewish holiday or get together on the weekend? I'm sorry I'm really not sure), and most of my friends were Jewish.

Now in art classes, no one says this.

Isn't that funny that now they don't care if I have to leave early for some reason? Kind of stereotypical but it's true.

btw, I have dark features but am not at all Jewish, but I still have many Jewish friends. How come when I change my major from pre med to art history people don't think I'm Jewish anymore?
sad and ridiculous. my wife majored in history and I in english. Both Jews...anyone jumping to ridiculous conclusions perpetuates horrible stereotypes. How come when I change my major from pre med to art history people don't think I'm Jewish anymore?

How do I tell my professor that I want to change my major because of his class?

I took a class with him this semester just for credit, and ended up loving the subject. I feel in love with the subject and got a 100% grade in the class. He made it so intresting and I want to consider majoring in it. I want to take the other classes with him too becuase he makes it so simple, fun and rewarding. Plus I heard the other teachers are lame-o. I want to tell him that becuase of him I am considering changing my major becuase he inspired me.

BUT, he is hot, and I don't want him to think I am stalking him, or doing this for his attention. I am not far along at all in my other major. So how do I do this? How do I tell my professor that I want to change my major because of his class?
It's okay to go to an advisor and request a change of major. But, I'd honestly wait until you have taken another class in that field before making this decision. Can you take another elective class in the spring? If you still enjoy it, then its probably worth making the change. However, you need to understand this same person will not be the only professor you have in that field. He can't teach the entire class load and you will have the others to deal with as well. Make a wise choice! How do I tell my professor that I want to change my major because of his class?
Why do you have to tell him...just change your major no big deal.
me thinks you fancy the knickers of him you go girl
you do like him! haha... if you want to impress him go ahead and tell him he inspired you blah blah blah. really you dont have to, you simply find out what classes are needed for this new major you love, make a plan of when you are taking those classes, and what classes you already have and sign on for all the classes he gives. dont forget though, it is really its very important to do a lot of research, or go to an adviser. there may be classes that you probably hate and wont want to take that may be required.
I would be serious about it--tell him that you are more interested in the subject, and that you are *thinking* of changing your major Ask his opinion on the job prospects and education required. I did this with a (female) professor after I took her excellent anthropology class, and she talked me out of anthro as a major (she had valid points).
Just tell him how inspiring you found the class, and try not to blush too much while you're doing it. (Even if you do, it's okay; professors get used to dealing with crushes in a professional manner.) Ask him for advice on the other classes while you're at it; odds are you're not going to be able to fulfill every last one of your requirements with him, so you might as well figure out which ones are slightly less lame.
You could request him as your adviser and then you can chat with him about it. You also should make sure that the other professors aren't to terrible or you will just end up switching again.
well give it to him easly tell himlike it aint nothing

How did you know to change your major?

When you started college and found out your major wasn't for you, how did you find out it wasn't for you?

Were the classes too hard? Were you not interested in the classes? Were they boring?

I'm just wondering because sometimes with my major, I find a few of my classes boring and hard at times but I can't really picture myself being anything else. I'm studying to become a paralegal and I know that I can't do complicated Math. Sometimes I like astronomy and looking at the planets but that's more of a hobby than a career. If I were to become an astronomer, I'd have to take a lot of heavy science classes that I probably couldn't handle.

I just finished my legal research classes. When I look back, I liked reading case law The only thing that seemed monotonous was trying to find cases that applied to my issues because there's so much out there. How did you know to change your major?
I feel the same way most of the time. I'm just about done my first year at university and I'm in geography right now. While I don't find it very hard (it's pretty easy actually) I find it really boring sometimes and looking at all upper year geography classes offered there are only a few that I think I might find interesting. I also feel like it's a really useless major and that I'm wasting my time/money. I've been thinking about switching into something else this entire winter term and a lot of the fall term. I'm gonna try and get into computer science next year. How did you know to change your major?
There will always be classes within your major you won't enjoy...

I thought for the longest time I was going to be an architect. I loved drawing up things on my own but in my first class, I found out I really hated what I was doing. I like very few aspects of the program.

I've since changed my mind and couldn't be happier or more excited for my major :)

I want to change my major....but...?

Im 20 years old. Ive been attending a University for Nursing for the last two years, but I recently have had some doubts about my major. My sister and my mom are nurses and are so passionate about it, makes me realise how much Im not. So I love working in smaller offices and I know I want to be in the medical field, so I chose dental hygiene. They make the same amount of money also and have a lot better hours. Ive already put 16,000 into school. Should I feel bad about putting this money to waste?I want to change my major....but...?
ITS not a waste....those credits will transfer...and good for you for following your heart.....

How do I choose what major I should complete in college?

I have changed my major about four times this last year. I just keep losing interest in majors I start to explore. I know I want to work with the government when I am out of college. I want a major that I truely enjoy and can obtain a degree in.How do I choose what major I should complete in college?
As much as I would love to tell you to follow your dreams and do what you love, I can't. Be practical. Political science. Chances are you're going to get bored when the level of studies increase in any major. I've switched my major four times myself. I'm an Italian literature major. What will I ever do with that? Nothing. I was pre-med when I started college. Now I'm getting a degree in Italian literature. It's too late to change it.How do I choose what major I should complete in college?
If you want to work with the government, Political Science is always a safe major.
find a job you want, figure out what it takes to get that job and then go for it, get your degree in the major it requires and then get the job that you want.
i'd say that political science or international relations would be a safe bet with the job you're going for. also, some government officials have been known to major in sociology, psychology, or philosophy. really, it's best to pick a major that's somehow relevant to the job/lifestyle you'd like to have but that you'll also be able to get enthusiastic about. it can also be useful to talk to someone who really knows the programs at your school -- i've always found it useful to meet with my academic dean if i'm planning out my future because she really knows what the school has to offer.

  • Is it too late to change my major?

Hello all. I'm a junior in university as a business major.

Frankly speaking, I loved being a business major.

Everything went well and I had pretty good GPA. (Around 3.6)

But, this semester, I lost interest on my major and

I'm failing two courses. I've never failed classes before...

However, I feel like business is not for me...

mainly because I have witnessed how cruel people could be..

it's so competitive, I just can't take the pressure anymore.

I am very interested in audio technology and design.

I like creating sound effects and music...

But, that means I would have to do four more semesters before I could graduate.

But then again, I'm well aware that I can't come back once I graduate...

so is it worth it?Is it too late to change my major?
It's best to change it...unless you don't mind spending the rest of your life with a degree you're not too crazy about

My therapist told me I need to change my major. But I REALLY don't want to. What do I do?

So I had an appointment with my therapist today and we talked about my OCD and stuff. He asked me how school was going which he hadn't talked about in like a year or so, and I told I changed my major to Music because I wanna be a choir teacher. And then he looked at me with that ';excuse me?'; face for some reason. He told me it's not a practical major because schools are cutting music programs.

But the problem is is that that's only in SOME places. The thing is is that I'm really happy with the educational program I'm in and I'm already halfway through receiving some of my credits. I don't want to give up on it, it's something I like doing. I tried majoring in law at first, but that just left me feeling like I wasn't really doing much for ME.

The thing is is that he's a really REALLY great therapist. He's helped me through most of my major problems with my OCD. But I just feel like I can't listen to him on this one... I feel like I'm letting myself down too much to give up on my dream. I just got this gut feeling that this is what I wanna do for my life. I just don't know how to break it to him without him trying to argue logistics with me. He called me ';overprotected'; and stuff like that. This is the first time he's ever made me feel like this. What do I do?My therapist told me I need to change my major. But I REALLY don't want to. What do I do?
he hasn't helped you if your still coming in. don't ever change your passion for anybody. My therapist told me I need to change my major. But I REALLY don't want to. What do I do?
Don't change major, change your therapist.
    stick to your major. :)

I want to change my major from pre-med to a non-science major, what should I do?

I am a undergraduate pre-med major, I recently decided that I want to do other things that interest me, while still pursuing a career as a doctor, meaning I would take a non-science major, and still take the prerequisites for medical school. But I'm wondering what are my chances of getting into medical school with a non-science major and how do I go about this. Will they switch my academic advisor? and what would be some advice for me?I want to change my major from pre-med to a non-science major, what should I do?
Go see your academic advisor and ask him. Different schools have different protocols for switching majors. If you're switching to a non-science major you may have to apply to a different college in your university before you can switch. It might hurt your chances for getting into med school but not in an insurmountable way, as medical schools will accept people from all majors as long as they have taken the appropriate courses.I want to change my major from pre-med to a non-science major, what should I do?
I am doing a Pre-Med program as well. I also work in an ER as a CNA right now and I spoke to a couple of the doctors I work with about this same thing. All of them gave me pretty similar answers, basically they told me I could change my major, but don't plan on getting in to Med. School. If I were you I would stick with the course you are on, unless you don't have much interest in being a doctor.
It will be a challenge to be honest, and you have to be doubly sure you want to do this. Meet a counselor and discuss this. It depends on where you are studying. For example, in Open University it would may be a tough combination.

How to go about changing a major before starting college?

thankfully i have been accepted into temple university for finance.

i have come to realize that i want to go into pre-nursing and i understand that you must write a letter or fax them. how should i format both of these and is my signature needed, or my parents? and i have not gotten back to the school yet so should i do that after changing my major or before?

please and thank you for ur time and help! How to go about changing a major before starting college?
I am amazed that Temple requires you to pre-select a major. Most acceptance letters are at the university level, and not to a particular department.

Chances are that your first semester classes will be pretty much the same (Comp I, Freshman Sem, Math 101,) and two other courses. Get in touch with their admissions team and see if they have any advice for you.

Should I change my major to become a vetenarian and how do I do this?

I'm currently a Creative Writing major but I've found I don't enjoy it as much as I used to and I don't write as often. I've always had an interest in becoming a vet but I'm worried, because I'm a sophomore, that I'm making a mistake. I've already got part of my major done. I don't know exactly how this works.

Also, what is required to be accepted into a vetenarian school? Do I need a major in biology first or is something else required? Thanks.Should I change my major to become a vetenarian and how do I do this?
I don't know what that first guy was talking about...He said that you have to be a pre-med student, which is completely wrong. But he was totally off.

    Here is some info:http://www.ehow.com/how_7976_become-vete

There are some really good sites out there with great tips just do some research on it through google.com

Good Luck!Should I change my major to become a vetenarian and how do I do this?
dude u are screwed! vet is a great career, but i think it takes another 6 years. u have to do pre-med, than vet school which is not only hard, but takes 4 years. you need to do a lot of community servise also and i hope your high school transript looks preety.

i think u should just do journalisim or something related because you are going to be 28 by the time you graduate.

    good luck,

whatever u do give it your all
The first problem you'd have is that SUNY New Paltz doesn't have a pre-veterinary program, which is what you'd usually major in prior to applying to vet school. The closest is probably Biology, so you might want to talk to an advisor in that department. There are a wide range of science careers that you could investigate if that's a direction you wish to go.

Something else you might consider, especially if you have strong writing skills, is thinking about journalism rather than creative writing. You could take a range of science courses and target yourself not toward journalism in general, but more toward writing for science publications, or working in the marketing or p.r. departments of an agency or company that is focused on scientific products. But New Paltz doesn't have a journalism program either.

Sophomore year is not too late to change majors, and even if the change is drastic and means another semester or so of school, it's worth it to get where you really are excited to go. If you haven't already done so, go to the career center on campus and see if they have some aptitude tests to take.

Talk to professors of any classes you have really enjoyed and ask them where a degree from their program would take you in a career. There are probably other possibilities that would fit you well that you don't even know about yet, so start asking lots of questions and see what you can learn. Good luck!

How often do you need change in your life?

(And we aren't talking underwear here)

I used to need major changes in my life about every three years. I'm finding that my life is now becoming more settled..... why is that? How often do you need change in your life?
I grew up thinking constant change was the ';norm.'; Didn't everyone go to 4 different 1st grades? Didn't everyone move all the time all over the country? I thought everyone did that. So change is something I embrace...it's a part of me. Granted, now that I'm much older, I don't look for change for changes sake...because there is a part of me that enjoys the settled bits...but change is good, we learn, we grow, and if we play our cards right...change opens up a new world to discover and revel in.How often do you need change in your life?

I'd say you are becoming experienced enough to know more of what you are looking for up front, so less changes are needed in the long term.
I think my life changes every year without even trying to change it!
not a fan of it really had to much of it as a kid like to plant roots now
It really depends if you are happy with your life...there are no set amounts...you probably found that thing in life that makes you happy and ya need to celebrate it! I lot of people never come to that point...good for you girl!
I need change whenever things are not going well in my life....

I guess your life has become more settled because you are satisfied with your life and happy with your life as it is....
life changes me. if i want it or not.
A lot of that is age relevant.

I am amazed at how restless I still am at times. I still find I haven't found that safe place where I am utterly content. I want change and yet I don't!

But I do find change harder to accept as I age. I like the status quo.

Maybe when I am no longer on this planet, I will finally be satisfied.

Unless there is an afterlife .......and here we go again! LOL
I could not agree more. Well, I could, but it would take too much effort. After I return from Denmark this spring I will be known as Betty. Is that a big enough change? This kind of goes with the '; Whose shoes would you walk in? '; question. The downside of constantly making major changes in one's life could mean that one is not really happy with who one is. That doesn't seem to be true in your case. What do you mean by major changes? For me, changing which toothpaste I use is a major change.
I always need change. To me change is part of growth. I can't learn if I'm not experiencing new things or new situations. (That's not to say that all change is rewarding either!) I've always been the type that is like a ';rolling stone'; though. Until I got married, I don't think I stayed in one spot more than five years.

  • Should I change my major? What should I change it to?

I was going to do business but I found economics really tedious. I don't want to major in anything directly related to science or math. I don't want to do psychology because it will probably make me overanalyze and make me more paranoid than I already am. I have self esteem issues. I was thinking sociology but i'm thinking that would do the same thing. I am majoring in communication studies but there seems to be a lot of public speaking going on. We have to kinda copy how other speakers talk. There are going to be some presentations. I hate public speaking and having to try to mimic people.Should I change my major? What should I change it to?
You seem pretty lost. I would take some general education classes and find some fields of interest. If something sparks your interest, maybe you can go off of that. It also depends what year you are in.

Change of major... music to pre-med??

I would absolutely love to go to an Ivy league, however, I'm not so sure I'd be able to get in on academics alone. I am very good at cello though. I actually go to Juilliard pre-college in nyc, which is very prestigious. I'm in NHS, I've won music competitions, and some other things. I have a 3.8 gpa, and although i did pretty terrible on the SAT (1780), it was the first time I took it, and I plan on doing a LOT of hard work practicing with books to get it up to a 2000 at least. I know my cello skills are far above average (not trying to sound conceited!) and I was just wondering how much Stanford or an ivy such as Cornell or Princeton weighs grades if I try out for music. I do also have a strong interest in science and I would ultimately love to become a doctor, or do something in the medical field. My most important question here is, would it be possible to switch to a pre-med focus (major in biology or something, cello as a minor) if i was accepted as a cello performance major?Change of major... music to pre-med??
There is no pre-med major. Pre-med is just a list of prerequisites that med school wants for application. You can choose whatever major you want, doesn't matter, as long as you complete 1 year of Biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, calculus, and English. Since many med school applicants have majored in Biology or bio related, a music major can work in your favor, especially with world renowned Julliard. A few of my classmates were music majors, and they got in just fine.Change of major... music to pre-med??
Pre med can be, but usually is not, a major. It basically consists of about 12 standard subject then can be done in any degree, even music. No advantage is conferred by majoring in obvious choices like biology etc. Indeed the AMA states they want to encourage non standard applicants so maybe music could confer a slight advantage.

    Thanks

What were the major changes in women's lived experience from 1900 to 2000?

How and why did they prompt a movement for women's liberation to emerge in the 1960's and 1970's??What were the major changes in women's lived experience from 1900 to 2000?
To Vote, Abortion, work discrimination (still going on though). I would get a book and read about it verses going to yahoo answers. The jist of the 70's movement was for more autonomy and control over there bodies and Independence, it fell in a little with Roe v Wade. There was stigma's such as a woman was no good if she had premarital sex (the feminist movement has helped a tremendous amount of guys to get laid by the way). Women were getting treated like second class citizens and just got tired of it. Things like couldn't open a bank account without her husbands permission, or charge a big ticket item without permission. Also, if they were a single women then they were really screwed. I recommend reading about it verses listening to uneducated people rant their biased opinions and hatred towards women. What were the major changes in women's lived experience from 1900 to 2000?

Should I change my major from Architecture to Business (Marketing emphasis)?

When I started college, I decided to major in Architecture because I had a love for drawing and building scale models. I enjoyed the drafting classes I took, but when it came to the design studio classes, I felt that's where my weakness was, because I'm more of a technical person than a creative one. I still continued to work hard, received my associates degree, and I applied and was accepted into architecture school. The first day of school, the professor assigned us to design three structures with floor plans, elevations and 3d sketches, and to have it done in a week. The workload was just too much for me, so I ended up dropping out of the program after the first week. So after quitting school, I figured I should try to get a job. I searched all over for entry-level drafting positions, but although I had a degree, no one would hire me - mostly because of lack of experience and because of the weak economy. With no jobs available in architecture, I went to a temp agency and was offered a data entry position. I couldn't afford to be picky, so I accepted it. So far, it's been one of the best companies I've ever worked for! The product is great, the company is growing really fast, and it's a really great working environment with excellent opportunities to advance. I quickly moved from data entry to sales assistant to now accounts receivable assistant.in just six months. I recently received an email from the director of the architecture program stating that he really wants me back in the program and thinks I can succeed, but I really want to keep my job and if I go back to architecture school, I would have to quit my job and be stuck being a starving student again. I spoke with the CEO of the company, he told me that if I wanted stay with the company, that he foresees growing positions in marketing and sales. So, I've been thinking about going back to school, but changing my major to Business with a Marketing emphasis to give me a better chance to advance within the company. Plus, I can continue to work while I go to school. I still like architecture, but I don't know if I like it enough to quit my job and commit to the heavy workload. Also, I'm not as creative as I would like to be, so I question how successful I could really be, in school and professionally. On the other hand, I don't really know much about Business (Marketing) yet and don't know if I'll succeed in that either. Plus there is no guarantee that I'll be able to move up in the company. Anything could happen in the next few years. What should I do?Should I change my major from Architecture to Business (Marketing emphasis)?
you could take night classes probably and work towards a business/marketing degree and still keep the job - you already have some college credits that can transfer

If you are now working for the company and not the temp agency, check and see if they have a tuition reimbursement program, that woul dhelp you with tuition costs

How can McCain Change Washington when Major Washington Lobbyists run his Campaign?

Well folk, I am a little puzzle when John McCain claims he wants to change Washington when Washington Lobbyist like Charlie Black, Rick Davis etc, run his entire campaign.

We are also withnesses to the fact that McCain is still play the old Washington game by Assasinating the character of his opponent rather than saying how he will tackle the issues of our time; Economic hardship, High food and gas prices and a weakening dollar, Unemployment, Home crises etc...?

We are also withnesses to his tied links to the Bush administration with Carl Rove and Dick Cheney guys dictating the tone of his message and pressured him to choose Palin, someone they can easily manipulate against the choices McCain thought were best; Tim Pawlenthy, Mit Romney, Tom Reigh, Joe Lieberman etc...

Can McCain actually change Washington or he will be same as Bush who also said he was going to change Washington and ended up being the Washington propaganda machine?

How can McCain Change Washington when Major Washington Lobbyists run his Campaign?
Exactly. That is the $64,000 Question. Answer: He WON'THow can McCain Change Washington when Major Washington Lobbyists run his Campaign?
the only thing he will change in Washington is how many troops he plans to deploy from Washington. thats about it.
Nice show from ebay and hp!
I guess all the republicans are ignoring this question since there is nothing to say.

Should I change my major/program now before knowing if I'm accepted or not (to BU)?

Alright, so I've applied to Boston University under the pre-med program Human Physiology, but now I'm starting to want to major (or at least try) Computer Sciences. Thing is, I haven't gotten a decision made on my admission application yet. I called them, and they said that it doesn't matter the major/school I've chosen there in how it affects my chances of being accepted. They said the odds are generally the same for all programs.

But. Should I risk changing it now anyways? Or wait for the decision first? I was thinking this over because, paranoid that I am, I imagine that I might not get in because of the fact that I have chosen Human Physiology (pre-med programs are competitive?). I'm not considering on doing this just to get in either; I might actually stick with Computer Sciences as my ultimate major if I end up liking it.

Also, I've heard other colleges wait-list, reject, ect. people because their choice of major/program is too full.

(Even though they said the chances are the same, I'm still a bit shaky as I'm refreshing my browser waiting for that fateful email =x)

Thank you to those who can shed a little light on this for me ^^Should I change my major/program now before knowing if I'm accepted or not (to BU)?
At this point, there is no way you changing proposed majors can benefit you. It could hurt by way-laying your application. Leave it alone.

  • What major changes have you experienced? ?

Based on your past experience what advise would you give to your peers and yourself for how to practically deal with change? What major changes have you experienced? ?
To deal with change, you must first accept that nothing is guaranteed to remain the same.

For most, change isn't welcomed because predictability is the most comfortable feeling. But you must have an open heart and open eyes to accept changes in life.

Being positive and loving has a tremendous impact on whether or not you view these changes as blessings or curses.

You can make the best out of a situaiton, or the worst out of the same one, but it's all a matter of your positive attitude or lack thereof. What major changes have you experienced? ?
    Accept, Enjoy, and move on.
Go with the flow, prioritize, accept what you can't change and try to smile everyday. There is always someone worst off than you...

    Good luck
I just flew the coup from my parents house to my own in a different state with a wife and child. WHEW!!!! Now the only way that I am dealing with it, is one day at a time. I miss my family... but I am a grown man and I have my own family now, it doesn't stop me from missing my family who I lived with for 28 years though. So I will say... one day at a time does the trick.
Just recently my husband broke his shoulder and injured his neck on the job. He drives a semi over the road (and is usually gone all week). I have had to adjust to his being home all day, going from 2 incomes to 1 (until his Workman's comp kick in) and basically taken care of a grown man. It has been very trying for me because I'm very independent and have been used to coming and going freely, I've also had to take on more hours at work to make-up for the lost income and I've been preparing meals at home instead of grabbing a bite with the girls after work...
Having been through many changes in a long lifetime, I now live by a beautiful quote by Helen Keller :

    ';When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened before us.';

Why am I like this? Am I normal or do I have a problem?

I have been in community college for almost three years. My plan was to be in community college only two yrs and then transfer. My major involves computers and I have stuck with it all of these yrs but somehow it seems like I belong somewhere else...but I don't have a clue as to what I want in life. I don't know what type of career I want. I'm 21 and it frustrates me that at this age I still don't know what I really want. I consider changing major but the ';new'; career I had in mind for me no longer appeals to me. In school I'm not doing well either. Since I started I have been procrasinating in almost all my courses. My grades are not what I would like them to be. I get mad at myself because sometimes I get this attitude of ';I don't care'; or '; I'll do it later';...how can I change this? Sometimes I think I suffer from depression because I honestly don't care about important things in my life, such as: school, my career, the future...my future. Why am I like this? Am I normal or do I have a problem?
You may be suffering from some depression, but the big problem is nothing unusual at all. It's quite common at your age to still be searching for what you want to do. I'd say start concentrating on general courses and subjects that interest you, without trying to work out a career just yet. As you take courses that interest you, you may find a career path that is right. Why am I like this? Am I normal or do I have a problem?
hmm, I know lots of people are in your same situation, so I'd say it is normal, but you might want to talk to a psychiatrist and they could see if perhaps you do have depression, which by the way, is nothing to be ashamed of, most people go through a stage of depression at least one time in their lives. Maybe reevaluate your life and see why you've stopped caring, perhaps it's time to try something new.
Someone sounds perhaps a bit depressed...

Talk to your doctor, rant to them about all of this, chances are that if you aren't depressed, which it sounds like you might possibly could be, atleast you'll feel better for a day or two maybe. Try counseling or over the next break take some you time, clear your mind, go someplace amazing, find the more inner you.

    Best of luck
well i would say you are pretty normal. Most of us are to hard on ourselves. Its nice to have goals but you are young very young. You are still discovering things about life so you may end up with a career that you never even known about years before now. So you are all right just relaxing its okay that you don't know what you want to do and yes it feels a bit frustrated but once again its okay. Keep dreaming up ideas keep finding new things to explore you got your whole life a head of you.
It's best to talk to a professional, you can usually get free or discounted therapy through your school. if not look for someone who works on a sliding scale fee. You are in the perfect situation and age for depression to develop. Let it go untreated and you'll pay a heavy price in the future..
Take it easy...breathe! I suggest you go to a counselor in your college and discuss this with him or her. College is all about finding out what you want to do in life, so you should ask yourself what you're good at and what you really want in life. Don't look for a career which has more money, look for something that really interests you, and you'll look froward to in the morning.
I have my own demons to work through, but I just wanted to tell you that your question touched me and I wish there was something I could do for you.

Is there anyone you're close to that you can discuss your situation at length? Try not to dwell on your indecision. Try to complete whatever you're doing and later worry about the future.
Procrastination can consume a lifetime if your not careful.Seek the help of a college councilor, maybe you just need to change your direction in class subjects.Good luck.
You do sound as though you are suffering from a bit of depression.

First of all, go to your doctor and explain everything you have written on here and ask him/her if you are going thru a depressive state. As soon as you get on some meds or sometimes just talking it out with someone that understands, you feel better about yourself and life in general.

Most young adults go thru the same thing but won't admit they have a problem with life changes.

You are only 21.... Don't take everything so serious; getting angry with yourself will only make you more discouraged.

Best of luck to you and make that appointment ASAP.

BTY, alot of times, you just need a change of scenery.
This sounds like me.Maybe you should quit everything for a while and just thing what you want to do
It's normal....to be lazy. That sounds harsh, but I don't mean it to be.

We all have those days, weeks, years...etc. where we want to shrug it off...save it for later, but at 21 how much later do you have, college is almost over for you.

When it comes to doing homework or studying, put off the party...there will be many many more, sit down with yourself and say okay ';I know if I put this off my grade will be___and I will be____at myself for it'; if the blanks are negative, then do something about it. Sit down with a drink you love or your moms homemade cookies, NO MUSIC, NO CELL, NO TELEVISON, NO DISTRACTIONS and just DO IT.

By not putting the things you HAVE to do off you will end up with more time to do the things you WANT to do, and you will have more fun doing them...because you won't be stressing about what you still need to do when you slump back to your bedroom.

Think about the consenquences before you make the choice, weight the outcomes...you will find that just finishing the term paper is much easier than worrying about it for a week and then ';getting by'; with a D.

College is the time to figure your future out, but hey, if the current one doesn't appeal, wait, but while you wait and put your new life skills to work, be on the lookout for new majors, ask around with other students, talk to the proffesors, buy a college prep book...figure out what your future will be by figuring out what you are passionate about.

Trust me, it is normal to do these things...but that is NO escuse. In the end the only person you will be hurting is yourself.

Hope this helps, stay strong, and be open to new ideas...you'll be surprised what can bite you when your not looking....like a new major.
perhaps school isn't for you. secondary education is not for everyone, nor, despite how authority tries to scare everyone, is it required for every job out there.

but to answer your question differently, i get in that kind of mood when i feel like i'm not in control of my own life. when i feel that i'm doing too many things because it's what i'm 'supposed' to do rather than what i really want to do.

the tough thing is that at this age, what you really want to do can be a very fluid concept, which makes it hard to do whatever kind of preparation is necessary for a job in that field.

after three years in community college, you must have almost all the general ed classes knocked out and should be able to transfer into almost any program and start taking core classes. only you can pick what kind of program that will be though. if you need help, schedule some sessions with your college's career counselor.

if you think you're depressed, make a second appointment for a mental health counselor. one should be available through your school.

it may help light a fire under you (regarding saving your grades in the classes you're already in) to think of it in terms of this: you are all that you have. no one is going to save you but yourself. so working hard and getting stuff done is an act of love to yourself and to your future self. quite simply, you must find the determination to make it happen.

but you may have to hit rock bottom to find that renewed sense of determination.
You're still so young though. I can relate because I'm only 19 and I just finished my first year of college. It's hard because you're going through a change. A lot of times, doctors will diagnose normal stress patterns as depression. But it's human nature to change and you wouldn't change if you didn't have learning experiences and learning experiences cause stress. Big time.

At this point in your life, the stress is going to have the most impact because you're not established yet. You're not where you want to be. You are clearly worried about your future if this bothers you so much. So that in itself is a good start.

Also, if there's anything I've learned it's that almost NO ONE sticks with their original major and most don't graduate as early as they had originally intended. You could get a basic Associate's degree and go on to get your Bachelor's at a university. But I do think you should change majors, and just keep going until you get to where you think you want to be. Take some career aptitude tests, think about your interests, what you're good at. And I know that sounds cheesy but it's what I hear everday. I figure it might actually be useful.

Don't think you're alone. Most of our generation struggles with their identity at young ages and always wish for something different. Find what you like, do it, and your grades will improve if you're enthusiastic about it. The reason they aren't what you want them to be is because you're not liking the subject material.

I think you're going to do great. Find something you love and do it. You're your own best accelerator and worst obstacle. You just have to learn to overcome yourself.

    Good luck with everything.

How many times did you changed your major in college?

    Hi,

Anyone changed their major more than once? twice??

I was majoring in Respiratory Therapy got kicked out because I failed a class then X-Ray Tech also got kicked out because I was doing horrible in the program. Now im considering social work..

My main thing that I like is to help people. That is why I chose the health care majors.. But apparently there meant for me.How many times did you changed your major in college?
Once, before I was even actually declared. My boyfriend has changed like four times. I think his situation is very similar to yours. He is now studying clinical laboratory science and not excelling but he is passing, he'll be a medical technologist when he finishes-- there is a difference between a technologist and a technician, btw. My understanding is that he will be doing the lab work and whatnot, but more supervisory stuff or different tests than the technicians. Not really sure.

Social work may be a little easier, I would think, for people who are not as good at the hard sciences. I like to help people too, so I am studying poli sci to become a civil rights attorney. There are lots of different ways to help people. :)How many times did you changed your major in college?
i must have changed it at least 5 times to different things. I settled on business administration now.

Pre med and Electrical engineering major ?

I am a Freshman in college. I am thinking about pre med but dont know yet. Should i change my major to something science related? How hard would it be to finish in 4 years?Pre med and Electrical engineering major ?
A buddy of mine was an EE and it gave him the discipline to go on to med school without a hitch. I believe he did it in 5 years, but you should major in whatever you like, the science cores are the same for all premeds and admissions boards don't care what your major is. So long as you get high marks, you'll be fine even if you major in soup making.Pre med and Electrical engineering major ?
there is not much overlapping material between the two subjects.

keep in mind that your initial B.Sc. degree should be something that can get you work just in case med school plans have a snag.

from what little I have seen of electrical engineers they are an unhappy lot. They get transferred or downsized probably more than other engineers.

Chemical Engineering would have more overlap and you could get a job as a chemist (analytical chemisty is usually always hot) as a back up plan.

Engineering is tough, and at least at public universities, they have weed out classes where they have a 1 or 2 semester class but put in about 6 semester hours of work, skip chapters, and have the books come in late.

The best of the best engineering field is mechanical. But unless its in your blood I would not try it. Somepeople pick majors based on the money outlook without considering if they are interested in the subject.

A major in Chemistry with minors in biology and math would be the ideal science major at most colleges.

Love, school, and change of major?

I tried very hard to maintain myself in junior college as a science major. I spent five years at JC, two years of which was to fulfill highschool level class since I took the GED after 9th grade. Finally I transfered to a university and now after only a year I am being dismissed for not meating minimum unit requirements. Now I am in a serious relationship, and also have to worry about my parents finacial situation therefor I've decided to apply to a state university and persue an accountancy degree. As much of a heartbreak as this is I know I'm doing the right thing. I just worry about the disapointment of parents and my mentor who worked so hard to get me here. I don't really know much about accountancy. Can anyone tell me what I should expect as far as the level of difficulty and how the job market is for someone with only a bachelors degree? What income should I expect? Eventually I'd like a cpa, but now I just want to finish school and work.Love, school, and change of major?
My was an accountant and makes really good money, and besides with you education credentials (when you finish school) you can gain top positions in companies, my mothers was a CFO (Chief Financial Officer) and making really good money. Finish all you schooling so that when you start ';living'; all you need is experience under your belt and you wouldn't have to worry about going back to school later. Good luck and congratulations on finding the one!

Changing majors at Cal Poly SLO?

How hard is it to change majors at Cal Poly SLO? What are the steps/requirements to changing your major there?Changing majors at Cal Poly SLO?
it is very hard to change majors there. they are known for that actually, a lot of people actually leave the college because they can't transfer. the school don't like it because it's a very competitive college and they don't want somebody to apply with an easy major then switch to a hard one. not sure what the steps are to change but good luck.

Should I major in computer engineering if the program is not accredited? How important is accreditation?

The university that I currently attend offers Electrical and Computer Engineering and the programs are very similar except for a few different courses. I am in my sophomore year and I changed my major from computer science to EE. I was thinking I would Major in EE and minor in CS, but my advisor feels I should just major in Comp Engineering since I already have a little knowledge. However, the CE program is relatively new so it's not accredited as of yet. I really changed my major because I didn't want to limit myself to computers. But my advisor says the same jobs an EE can get a CE can get. How true is this? And what should I do major in Electrical Eng and Minor in Computer Science or should I just major in Comp. Eng.Should I major in computer engineering if the program is not accredited? How important is accreditation?
If you want to go to some really high rated grad school it is important. As long as your school has ABET accredited engineering programs, the individual department accreditation is not that important. The most important thing is passing the PE when your done. But major in EE because its in demand. With EE you can still be a computer engineer anyway.Should I major in computer engineering if the program is not accredited? How important is accreditation?
I'm a EE and your adviser is quite wrong. CS is primarily programing and sometimes some VHDL logic design. I do transistor level circuit design for a pretty large company and of the 25 people in my department, there is not one CS. EE can do CS stuff but the reverse is not true. Also, stay away from something without accreditation.

Added --- The PE in the US is only needed if you want to do independent consulting. Industry doesn't care about it.
I would major in EE with no minor. I am a CHEG major and it seems like a better major at this time. Although having a PE will be a great career goal four years into your career passing your EIT before you graduate will put you above all of your job competition. I wish I would have taken my EIT my senior year. Some schools require it to graduate.

How do you go about telling your parents that you don't want to become a doctor anymore and changing majors?

Sit them down and show them you've done valid research and explain why you would be happier with the other major/career...How do you go about telling your parents that you don't want to become a doctor anymore and changing majors?
just tell them and explain why and what u want to do inplace of becoming a doctorHow do you go about telling your parents that you don't want to become a doctor anymore and changing majors?
Just tell them. You're grown up, they're grown up, they'll understand.

Unless you're changing to Psychology, talk about walking in circles.

To major in Business Management, how good do you have to be at math?

I am not that great, I took my placement test and got a 60.. I got a 98 on the English part though but ironically I hate writing.

Should I change my major, or will I be manage without being good at math (no pun intended haha)??To major in Business Management, how good do you have to be at math?
undergraduate business is not challenging at all in any area, except for one.

you will have so much free time (relative to other majors) you will likely get distracted.

the math is simple. most business students don't even breach into the realm of calculus 3.

if you dont plan on hanging out with friends, drinking, or whatever you're whole undergraduate career; getting high grades shouldn't be challenging for the most unintelligible people.

study, you'll be fine.To major in Business Management, how good do you have to be at math?
Business Management will require some math skills. Notably, accounting and statistics. I would also expect you to have to take something up to possible pre-calculus.

You dont have to be a genius at math to be a business major, there is some, and most of it has to do with your understanding of how to apply a specific approach to a problem versus being a whiz at math per se.

    You will be fine
I am not that great at maths and I am majoring in Business Administration so you will be just fine. The maths is not that bad at all.
