What are some cheap ways to increase performace of car?

i got a 2000 bmw 528i and i feel like i want more power from it,

how would i increase its performance without changing major parts?

Forget the tornado. Independent tests show a loss of power. After all, it partially blocks the airflow into the engine. I'd try a QUALITY cold air intake (remember that you'll get what you pay for) and a free-flowing exhaust system (still not cheap, but cheaper than what's next.) The next step would be a new ECU and possible bigger injectors - and you might as well change the camshaft while you're there. Don't bother changing your ECU right away - you'll get no more power until is has something to work on. The stock one is ideal for a stock engine.

well i would say a cold air intake or they do sell an item called the tornado which is guaranteed to increase fuel by up to 20 percent
One of the best ways is to get a K%26amp;N air filter, they're superior in every way, and often give more than a few percentage points increase in horsepower due to increased air flow.

The Computer chip can cost several hundred, so not sure what budget you're on. Exhaust tuning is another relatively ';cheap'; way to get more power, but cheap is relative. A muffler that does it may cost several hundred dollars as well. If you're looking for cheap under-$100 type increases, there aren't many. Sorry. Air filter is one of the few.

dont buy the tornado, its garbage, just messes your engine up in the long run.



you can put a true cold air intake, people will tell you that air intakes aRE all the same, not true. $200 will get you a decent air intake that you will notice gains from. with an air intake you have to get rid of the increased air flow, so you would also want to get a set of performance headers, downpipe, a high-flow catylitic convertor, and a performance exhaust with all bigger exhaust piping. with the right headers and intake, you could notice as much as 20-40 HP difference, and it'll sound awesome.

you could also get the ECU chipped or programmed by a performance shop after this to add more fuel to your new found air. or you could invest in a meth injection kit(can be sketchy because if you run out of meth you'll kill the engine.) or perhaps a small shot of nitrous, a 50 shot of nitrous would do wonders and not harm your engine as bad as some things could.
