How easy is it to change majors at UCLA and UC Berkeley (from historyy to communication)?

I took all the pre requisites at Santa Monica College for both

history and communication(media studies) for Berkeley and UCLA.

is it hard to change to communication once i trasfer to either one of them? I also have a 4.0 average as for now.

For some reason at UCLA, Communication Studies the major is rather difficult to get into. This is because they only allow in as many students as just graduated, thus if no one graduates, no one gets in! (this was the policy two years ago, maybe it changed?) This is an efficient policy to keep class rooms from getting overcrowded and lets everyone in the major obtain classes more easily but makes it more difficult to get in. Anyway, since your GPA is really good that should help.



As for your question, I don't really understand what you mean. Do you want to apply as a history major and then apply for Communications? Or do you mean is it hard to transfer into UCLA/Cal? SMC has a GREAT transfer rate, one of the best in CA. Furthermore I know a bunch of people who transferred from SMC, so it shouldn't be too hard!
