How many times have you changed your major in college?..any advice?

Man, right now I have finished my first year of college, and its really a pain not knowing what I want to do yet. I really don't have the resources to just change my major every time I want to. Thats why I'm attending community college. I gotta choose something I really want to do and stick with it! ...any advice?How many times have you changed your major in college?..any advice?

Ive never really changed my major in university as I kinda still like the major im doing. I go to a university in Australia, so the system might be a little different. Anyways on choosing majors you should consider:



* What subjects you're actually good at- dont listen to ppl who tell u that u should do a certain major, they're not the ones who have to study for it



* The employment prospects for the particular major. You can do this by researching through the internet, looking at careers sites, recruitment firms sites, job ads online and talking to your career counsellor



*Your financial situation and whether you can afford the fees for the particular subjects. Also consider the study loads for the major.



* Lastly, this is obvious but try to choose a major you're passionate about. This definitely helps and gives you motivation during hard times like studying for tests and exams

Im doing a business degree- my major is Human Resource Management...what type of course are you doing and what are the possible majors?

At a community college I doubt you'll be doing much of anything.
You can just chose Liberal Arts if they are making you choose, I changed my major several times. I ended up just getting a BS in Liberal Arts because I had so many units in so many different fields. You don't have to know yet, but if the school wants you to choose based on a class you liked or something general so when you transfer you have a diverse background.
I've changed my major twice and it's not easy. Be sure to know what you want to major in by the middle of your sophomore year or else it going to take longer to graduate, especially if the majors are completely different.
Yeah, you definitely want to have a major picked before you start taking junior and senior level classes. These classes are specific to your major, so if you change majors, you will ';lose'; all those hours. I ended up changing my major several times, started out as an accounting major, so took several business classes. Then changed to math education (big mistake, too much math), then changed to educational psychology. Then I dropped out of college for a while to get back on my feet. I transferred to a new college, and they did not have an educational psychology degree, so I went with plain and simple psychology, but the business courses I had completed counted towards a minor in business administration (yeah).



As for picking a major, you may want to go to your college's career counseling office and talk to them about all the possibilities available to you. In the meantime, start thinking about what makes you happy, what interests you, and what you think you would like to do all day long for the next 40 years.
