How do i tell my parents I want to change my major?

In the Fall I'm starting my freshman year at college as a civil engineer major. I've been telling my dad that that's what I want to do since my freshman year in high school. Lately I've been hacong awcond thoughts about this and wantong to major in major in business (economics or finance). I feel bad to tell my dad because he's glade that I wanted to do civil engineering. How can I break the news? I was thinking about taking the engonering classes for a semester and then tell him I can't handle the sciences or something lame like that. If rather not lie and tell him but I don't know how.

Don't lie. Sit your parents down and tell them exactly what you've just said, that you're not so interested in civil engineering and would prefer to major in business. It's your education, whether you're paying for it or your parents are, so the question becomes: do you want to spend 4 years studying something that's going to make you happy or something that will make your dad happy but you miserable?
