Should I change my major?!?

I am a Finance major and took my first fiance class this quarter. Sadly, I am doing really bad in the class. My friend is doing way better than me and she isn't even a Finance major. I am not sure if it is the professor or just me. Therefore, I don't know if I should take more classes dealing with Finance. This is my 3rd years so I have taken quite a few business courses and never had this feeling of being so lost before. It is still not late to change my major to something else in Business Admin. Should I take another Finance class just to see if I truly hate Finance or just change my major to something else. I don't want to do accounting since I have taken 3 accounting classes already and don't really enjoy it. (Got B in all 3 classes so I am not wiz w/ accounting)

I think if I was to change my major. It would be a major dealing less with math since I am one of those people who understand how to do something then make stupid mistakes. Maybe something in management or marketing... Should I change my major?!?
Sometimes in college you need to change your major. If math is not your strong point, then get out of Finance! You should try to major in something that you will want to do after you graduate. I changed my major in college and it worked for me. If you are not happy and are getting bad grades, change your major, it is not too late. Should I change my major?!?
Best way to answer your question to yourself is to ask why you chose Finance as your major in the first place. If it was for an external reason (my parents expected it, I thought I'd earn a bunch of money), that's not good for your long-term happiness and success. So explore where your heart is, and your answer will come out. Good luck.
i second the person above.

Should I change my major with 3 semesters to go?

Here's the deal. I'm 19, I've been in college since 2006, I'm won't graduate until 2011. My major is Actuarial Science. I didn't really want to major in this because I suck in statistics and basically actuarial science is statistics with an insurance/finance twist. I've only been at the university since Aug 2008, and I was pretty much pressured by my parents to major in this because of how much money you make ($80K to $100K+, sometimes 200K).

I've been doing pretty well for the last 2 semesters until now. I got my first 2 C's this summer and now, after dropping a class that I needed, I'm about to fail another.

This wouldn't be such an issue if the college was not CUTTING OUT MY MAJOR due to lack of funding! So if I fail this class, STA4932, I will NOT be able to graduate because this is the last time it's being offered. I have studied my butt of for this class, there is no tutoring for it because it's such a small major. Plus, for those that don't know, the actuarial science major and career requires about 10 rigorous exams to be taken in order, at least one of which I would need to take before I graduate. The exams have about a 35% pass rate I believe. On the other hand there is no need for a master's degree at all.

I really wanted to do is major in speech pathology or technically Communication Sciences %26amp; Disorders. But I would need 69 more credit hours to graduate. That would be at least 2 more years. And I would have to get a master's degree, which I don't mind. But I know my parents would be angry because they would feel like I was giving up on the major, after they have been supporting me financially almost completely.

Money isn't an issue because my first 2 years were free because I was in HS at the time. I have a 4 year scholarship that I've only used 1.5 years of.

Should I change my major, and enjoy what I'm learning? Technically if I fail this stat theory class I won't graduate anyway. So I'll have to change it. Sorry for the long question...Should I change my major with 3 semesters to go?
well if you fail the class you have to change anyway, so wait to see how you do in the class...do your best work your hardest and see what happens from there.

How can I improve my chances at getting into graduate school?

I recently changed majors to something in the medical field after 3 years, I have a 3.5 GPA that is likely to increase. What else can I do to increase my chance at getting into Graduate school once I've finished my B.S. next spring? How can I improve my chances at getting into graduate school?
Take classes for the GREs at like Kaplan or Princeton review. They are really worth the money and help boost your scores. Study Study Study! Eat a good breakfast on the morning of and sleep well the night before.

Write a KILLER statement of purpose. Have your advisor help you or some other professor you know and trust and have a good relationship with. If you have some extra money floating around, Kaplan does have people who do this too. Writing a good statement of purpose is the most important thing. Do not underestimate this.

Go to the school/s of your choice. Meet with faculty. Look around. Ask questions. It's great when they can put a name to an application. Go a step further (or if you are unable to travel to the school) and email the faculty you are most interested in and see yourself working with. Some schools ask on the application ';What faculty members have you contacted?';

Update your CV. My school had an office of career services that could help with that.

Research! Be someone's research assistant. Free work. Who doesn't want that? Ask your professors who you are tight with. Or ask them to make suggestions of faculty who they know who could use some extra help.

If you can't tell from my above suggestions, never assume you can just bang it out on your own. Ask for help. Your current professors/advisors know what it's like to not only apply to grad school, but they could possibly be the people who accept students into grad programs as well so they know what grad schools are looking for.

Good Luck!!!How can I improve my chances at getting into graduate school?
Establish a good relationship with several professors from whom you are earning top grades and who will write outstanding letters of recommendation for you.

How do I land a pharmaceutical sales jobs?

I am trying to get into pharmaceutical sales and want to know the best way to do this. I have no direct experience in pharmaceutical sales however I do have 3 years of outside sales experience plus 15+ years of direct customer service. I have a BS in Social Science with a minor in Gerontology. I have medical terminology and had started out working on my nursing degree before changing majors. I have worked as an executive administrative assistant, accounting clerk and HR assistant up until the last three years and want a new career path. And before it is suggested that I have to be somewhat attractive, I modeled in high school and college. So with all of this said...Any suggestions or leads? Any and all help is greatly appreicated! Thanks in advance! How do I land a pharmaceutical sales jobs?
best bet is to know someone in the industry. see if you can ride along with a rep for a day (shows initiative). read the following book w/ regard to interviewing: ';Knock 'em Dead'; by Yates or Yeates. i say this because i was a nurse before i got into pharma sales - no sales experience whatsoever - and, after reading the book, THAT'S when i started getting asked back for 2nd and 3rd interviews. it takes persistence... i waited an entire year before someone took a chance on me (and me and my team blew our numbers out of the water... trip to paris... trip to rome... multiple cash awards). anyone can do this job; and one doesn't need to be attractive to do it (although, unfortunately, that's a criteria on which a lot of managers base their decision(s)). also, try monster.com. type in ';sales'; in the box, and look for or hi-lite pharmaceutical sales where you're given the option - you'll see what i'm talking about. many people choose to get on with a smaller company... prove themselves w/ regard to exceeding sales expectations... then jump to larger pharma companies.

one last thing: if you can dispose of $200-300, try to get a professional resume writer to re-do your resume. mine added key words and that revision, along with reading the aforementioned book - helped a TON.

good luck. How do I land a pharmaceutical sales jobs?
You have a very impressive resume. If all of what you present is in fact true, one would think you to be an asset to any industry.Key in Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Pharmaceutical Distributors and you should be in touch with the whole pharmaceutical industry.Send resumes

I'm nervous about chemistry major?

I am a first year student and i've taking chemistry and nearly failed, i guess its because i didnt put enough effort into learning the concepts. My freakin school had a strike and my exams went badly.

i was thinkning about changing majors completely. Not sure if i should go into business ( i have no experience in it at all).

i like the nature of a job of chemistry background. I am a person who like to work with things and prefers not to see faces all day. I'd rather analyze things.

I get nervous about labs, especially if i had to do them alone. How do u become better at this stuff?I'm nervous about chemistry major?
You can't become better in something that takes time overnight. My advice to you is to find your weakness and begin to climb your ladder of success from there. Start with what you don't understand and ask for help.
  • give them advice

First of all, retake the chemistry class. It is a core class for your major and you really need to understand this information. Get a tutor, study group, whatever you need to ace this class.

Labs can be terribly nerve-wracking. All those chemicals and equipment that you have to be super careful with. What helped me become comfortable in a lab setting was having friends in the same lab as me. If you don't know anyone in the lab, make new friends. And don't be afraid to ask questions. If your lab supervisor is not helpful, find one that is.

There should be an introductory lab course in your school. Those classes are usually simple experiments that are more about familiarizing you with the equipment and terminology than about you performing the experiment. You may even have partners in this class, which makes things a lot easier.

When you start working a real research lab, look for a mentor that is very helpful. Ask upperclassmen who they have worked with and what their experience was like. Make sure your mentor understands that you don't have any experience or else they might give you a complicated protocol to follow.

Above all, be safe. If you are unsure of what you're doing, ask someone (and write down what they said so you don't keep asking the same question).

    Good luck!
